It is not hunger your stomach has just gone through major surgery and is trying to heal. Definitely take a PPI daily, my surgeon recommended at least for a month but I need one for 4 months. You will have gurgling and noises but it is not hunger.

No never. When you have your surgery you will have a lot of noises coming from inside but it won't be growling. The noises I hear now are in my intestines either liquid or solids; I guess because stomach contents gets there so fast now.

From someone who has had both the sleeve and gastric bypass I highly recommend going with the bypass. Many do well with the sleeve however I found that it was too easy to gain and did not provide me with enough restriction. I am much more successful with the bypass maintaining since January.

If you didn't have the surgery what would be your outlook? Don't forget that you have been where he is. I too have quietly been critical of obese people and realize how I must have been disgusting to others. I am so glad that you have been successful; his time will come, love him or go your own way.

Okay so three weeks out don't experiment with pancake syrup; this is just ridiculous to suggest. Anyway again at 3 weeks out you may want to revisit those foods you say you don't like; try different brands, cook different ways. I pureed my cottage cheese and added sugar free pudding flavours, delish! It is way too early on to start having cheese strings, deli meats, pancakes, porridge, cream of wheat, you need your Protein at this stage. You might just want to stick with Protein Shakes until your stomach heals and then in time you may be able to start eating some of the foods you currently can't; good luck!

    Disclaimer: MY experience and opinion
I had the same experience. I finally had to come to come to grips with it. I am never getting to that goal weight I had in my head. It was a bitter pill to swallow. So I had to take a closer look at the progress I made, the physical and mental changes (all improvements) and my general state of improved happiness due to the success I had. Just because I would like to be a different number doesn't detract from the huge success I've had. I'm a very healthy size 8, 53 year old woman who looks better than I did at 33. So it's all perspective. And I made a decision - to be ok with it, and not feel like a failure over something that probably wasn't worth the effort because it wasn't going to add value to my life, and was more likely to do the opposite.
Having said that, it doesn't mean you can't get there. Lower your calories, exercise more...there's probably something you can do. For me, eating 800 calories and exercising an hour a day might have done it, but I don't want to live like that FOREVER. It is a fact that the closer we get to goal, the harder it becomes for most of us. When you hit that wall, something will need to change if you want to keep losing.

I have had plastic surgery before goal and weight at goal. For me the surgeries that have had no change in my skin(with respect to sagging) are the ones that the surgeon performed extremely well and pulled the skin nice and tight. The surgery that the doctor did not well now that more fat is gone my skin is a little loose, obviously not like before but I think this surgeon was to conservative in his skin removal. Oh and not all bodies will change this statement should be taken across the board everyone is different. Go with what your surgeon suggests and don't look back!

I had sleeve to bypass revision and considering I weighed much less I lost I beleive at a quicker rate. I see you are eating oats for breakfast; during the wieght loss phase I would never have eaten such a high carb food plus it does not satiate you Protein does. Stick with higher protein meals and maybe your weight loss will increase. Oh same with Beans I didn't have any beans until I reached my goal weight. Now I am 7.8 punds below my goal wieght and I do eat beans!

I am old school, I guess, I read "....dating..." and didn't assume doing the 'horizontal bop' was part of the question.
If I was 'dating' (my version) the subject of my WLS would be hopefully when I was ready to divulge. The server would have gotten a response that I give regularly and honestly, sorry cant eat it all.
If the relationship was progressing towards the 'horizontal bop' I MIGHT would tell him before but I don't have any visible signs (my VSG was laparoscopic). I don't remember my husband explaining in depth the fact that he was circumcised...or my ex saying he wasn't....
What about having your tonsils/wisdom teeth/adenoids removed? Is that required to be discussed?
    bless their hearts...

We are equating STDs to WLS surgery now?
I knew someone would go off the deep end. Didn't have to wait long.
Having a STD can affect the other person.
If one person can only eat 4 ounces of steak on a dinner date, that has nothing to do with the other person.
The fact that people eating proper portions freaks other people out so much illustrates exactly what is wrong with our country and how people think about food.

Threetimesacharm reacted to pammieanne in Post Bypass Surgery foods I can eat
I think most people forgo the bun on a burger, or the crust on a pizza, because they are counting their carbs and know that getting your carbs from complex ones is healthier.
During the 'honeymoon' stage especially it's probably best to not eat things like simple carbs just so you can lose as much weight during that time as possible. As you get into the maintenance phase, then adding things like bread, rice, crusts, etc is doable - in Moderation.
You just have to want to do this. It's not unlike any other 'dieting way of life'... you don't eat the crap foods while you are trying to lose. Having WLS only gives you a tool to make it easier and quicker to lose and to keep it off. You can't expect to still eat crap foods and lose weight.
The bottom line is you are trying to get healthier, and part of that is losing weight. The other part is making good choices.

Threetimesacharm got a reaction from Pinkgirl1234 in Failure
So I started with the band 2005, sleeve 2012 and now gastric bypass 2015!! Yes I know failure is possible however the gastric bypass is the cadillac of surgeries for a reason. My stomach obviously is much smaller so I can eat much smaller portions. I have not had bread, Pasta, rice and really don't plan too, there are great substitutes out there. I have been in maintenance now since January which is fantastic for me never learned how to maintain before. I don't have a sweet tooth(carb addict) but I do indulge in rice cakes and paln tortilla chips. From what I have experienced you won't fail, just remember to always follow your healthy eating food plan and have occasional treats. Best of Luck!!

Wow. This surprises me. Not that I have any perspective but my own, but I've had a very different experience. I see my surgeon at every appointment, both pre-op and post-op. Even the one time I had an issue post-op, the nurse tracked him down at the hospital where was performing surgeries and he called me back personally. He never rushes and I have spent on average 30-45 min talking to him each appointment.
I'm only sharing this to highlight that there are alternative approaches.
I should also say that my surgeons practice does not use a NUT. He is the NUT. He takes nutrition very seriously, counsels people on non-surgical weight loss, and has published his own book on proper nutrition. This could be partially why he makes himself so available. Most of my questions post-op are related to nutrition.

Threetimesacharm reacted to LipstickLady in Not telling people about your surgery is a "half truth" or a "lie" steams me like a pile of fresh cow dung...
I'm not sure when making the personal decision to not tell the world all of your personal business became a "half truth" or "lie by omission" but if that's the case, I have a few scenerios/questions for those of you who think that way.
    By that logic:

If someone asks me how me and husband are the day after a huge fight (or a night of great sex), is it my duty to tell them all the details or is my standard answer of "Great!" or "Fine!" now a lie?

If someone asks me why I look tired, do I have to tell them that my husband snored and farted all night/was extremely frisky/kept getting up to pee and woke me up a gazillion times or am I lying?

I am just getting over a horrible tummy bug. When people ask me if I'm feeling better, should I go ahead and tell them that I am terribly afraid that I am going to poop in my pants at any minute because my stomach still feels off? If I don't, I am TOTALLY lying by omission.

Well meaning friends often ask how my kids are doing in school. Should I tell them that my oldest is in the top ten in her class, got into a top rated university, has received an a$$ load of scholarships but that her ex-boyfriend is being a real bast@rd and making her personal life a little miserable? I mean, that's the truth.

People often ask me my ethnicity because I am olive complected in the bible belt. I tell them Mexican and Italian, but I leave out the drop of German and Acatec Indian. Pin a big red L on my chest!

Must I tell people that I am on the rag/pissed at my kids/need a glass of wine/really have no desire to talk to them/in a hurry when they ask me how I am doing? Manners be damned! I don't want to be a liar.

Do I love your skirt? Why yes, I do! But now I have to tell you that it's beautiful but looks like **** on you because I don't want to omit any info.

Why am I smiling? I just crop dusted some nasty faced woman an aisle over. TRUTH!!

I could go on forever ...

Keeping my personal business PERSONAL doesn't make ME a liar just because you choose to share YOUR personal business.

I chose to keep my surgery to myself because I knew it would bother me when people said that I took the easy way out. I also know that bariatric surgery has a stigma attached to it and I wasn't willing to deal with that. A lady I worked with had a surgery and everyone knew about it. When she lost weight all anyone said was well, she has lapband so it's not like she's working hard and when she gained it all back, everyone was all smug about how her cheaterhead surgery failed. That irked me and it contributed to my decision to keep it to myself.
My three best friends know and no one else does. I am now 2.5 years post-op so my weight loss really isn't a topic of conversation anymore. When people asked what I did I just said I worked out more and ate less, which was entirely true. I like the idea that lies by exclusion are not lies. I don't feel that I have any personal obligation to other large people to tell my story- it's my business, not theirs, and I plan to keep it that way.
My boyfriend, now ex-boyfriend, once said something like...it's almost like you had that stomach surgery. I was thin! I also have major plastic surgery scars that someone who sees me naked and isn't stupid can conclude that I had been larger at least at some point. The big contributor is the fact that food makes me puke, so when I'm dating I either can't eat half the places we go or I do eat and then barf. All I said to him was...I thought that surgery wasn't supposed to make you barf? And he was like, ohhh yeah, you're right. End of story. My mom said once..."did you have your stomach cut out?" and my response was, "what?, why would I do that?. Again, end of story. I am fine lying to protect my privacy because in the end it is about number one, and this number one did not want to deal with the bs people like to throw at those who have had this surgery. I am ok with that, and in the event anyone finds out I lied to them, I frankly don't care.

First thing to do is be honest with yourself; you don't gain weight eating 700 calories a day. Are you actually tracking every morsel/liquid you put in your mouth. You may be surprised how quickly calories add up. Seek professional guidance on your food choices and what you should be eating.

I think his goal weight was set based on the percentage of weight loss you are expected to lose say 75-80% of excess weight. If you are okay with it great, if not set your own realistic goal and go for it!!
My weight has actually settled at 5 pounds below the goal I set for myself, woohoo!
