  1. Thank you. She didn't say I had to have a blood test prior.....ummmm. I am doing it at home, Sunday into Monday. My husband cracked up at the jug. I just thought it was odd, it was the one test required with all the other labs he wants to make a solid determine for surgery.
  2. All of that is still required. I still have to complete all the mandatory BCBS requirements. I can't just go and have surgery. They still require the proper documentation. If I don't have that, they don't have to pay. I just don't have to send it all in prior to the surgery for approval. Thank you for your advice...this is 15 years in the making
  3. Thank you. I consider myself very lucky. I know people that have been denied. I cannot imagen after going through the decision making process.
  4. It is confirmed. Since we are stationed abroad, no preapproval needed. I just have to follow the BCBS/Federal guidelines to a T. I am doing a happy dance!
  5. It seems that some people equate not wanting to tell as being ashamed. I honestly, believe in "NEED TO KNOW", like my husband needs to know, my MIL not so much. I am not ashamed or embarrassed. This has been 15 years in the decision making process. I don't feel like hearing peoples negative banter. I think we all know in our lives who needs to know. I just honestly believe in life not everyone is happy for you. That goes for anything. I don't feel like dealing with haters and/or pessimists.
  6. Anybody under go cortisol testing? I have to collect 24 hours worth of urine. I read up on it, very interesting. I have never been tested for this before. I guess my surgeon wants to know how my body handles stress.....
  7. Congratulations! That is awesome!
  8. Congratulations on your triumps. You have a full plate or you are Superwomen!

    Good for you!
  10. Ahhh congratulations on everything!!!!
  11. Great question! I am 37, but by the time we got pregnant I would be close to 40.
  12. Congratulations! That is awesome success.
  13. I think it is great he wants to go. It shows his support and it may help him through his fears. My husband wants to be involved 100 percent. It is a blessing, some women fear telling their husbands!
  14. I will document it all. I know many people on the boards travel to Mexico with good experiences. The care here on other things has been good. I do hear their nursing is not the best, but that the doctor is amazing. I speak Spanish, however with anything medical, I prefer english. I am very excited.
  15. I have my first consulate with the Colombian surgeon today. I am excited. I am writing my list of questions. I spoke to BCBS and since we are stationed abroad my approval process will be much easier. All I need to do is meet their requirements. Since I am abroad he is automatically considered a preferred provider. Listening to everyone's stories about the insurance process, I feel lucky that I can opt to have the surgery here.
  16. You look fabulous! I think you have to do what is comfortable for you. Honestly, I think the BMI chart is a crock, but that is my opinion. Whatever you decided you were and are beautiful!!!
  17. I cannot wait until that day! Congratulations!!!
  18. Isnt' it called HIPAA Laws, so she can ask for a dr's note, but she has no legal right to know why you are out!!!! NONE OF HER BUSINESS! I bet if you say your are protected under HIPAA she won't ask you another question. Requests from your employer The Privacy Rule does not prevent your supervisor, human resources worker or others from asking you for a doctor’s note or other information about your health if your employer needs the information to administer sick leave, workers’ compensation, wellness programs, or health insurance.
  19. I suppose it depends where you are living and exactly what you are having done. I don't believe all places are created equal. I can say for the most part the healthcare in Bogota is good. Many of the doctors and dentists are US trained and speak English. Although, I speak Spanish, I really prefer anything medical or dental be communicated in English.
  20. I have only told my husband, mother, my two really good friends and the one person that has already had it. She is amazing support. I know there will people that do not agree and honestly, I do not feel the need to discuss or defend my decision. I am not embarrassed or ashamed, but I just want it to be a good experience. I don't feel like having the extra stress of being on defense.
