  1. Wishing you the best. What a blessing that you were able to find this out through a procedure that would not be considered for prevention. I am 37 and have never had an endoscopy. I think with the numerous types of cancers people would be more inclined for "nontraditional" testing if we knew that it could save our lives. I wish the medical community would stop boxing people in and thinking that cancer only strikes this person or that person. None of us our immune. I am so thankful for you that you found this out early. God bless you and your family.
  2. I feel much better. I found out they did take that test last year and it was normal. Talked to the office and it is not that way over.....he wants to see what the surgeon says.
  3. Yes, I think the one test is for the actual functioning of the thyroid, the other is for the hormone and you are right, they must have been testing me for the function portion. From what I have been reading if untreated it will effect the functioning at some point.
  4. Yeah, I can wait to see what the surgeon says, but I am a bit frustrated.
  5. What really blows me, I have been on a supervised weight loss program for 1 year. They told me they tested me and I was "normal." However, I was not losing the beginning and then they put me on low carbs. So I lost like 18lbs in like 7 months. It is also very easy for me to gain. Especially when I travel. I truly believe going from a high altitude back to normal altitude just crushes me. Anyway, while I was stateside in MAY 2012, I even went to my GYN and they supposedly tested me too, again normal....I am kinda blown at this point. Because if I am diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I have been busting my ass for a year with little results and have a valid medical reason why, I will have spent the last year in vein.

  7. So my labs are trickling in and my TSH level came back 2 points above the "range." I haven't spoken to the doctor, but the lab told me it could indicate possible hypothyroidism UGH! Also, I may be pre-hypoglycemic. Just wondering if anyone else had similar results in the prelabs and what were ur doctor's recommendation.
  8. Believe you me, when I hit US soil, I will be IPHONE all the way!!!
  9. Yeah, it was craziness. I had a weight problem back then and she had asked me about the RNY. She knows I research everything. So then I decided at that time in my life RNY was not for me. So she asked me about it, seeked consult and then lied to us. Anyway, I think sometimes people just hate. But dang, if you can't talk to your friends does what does that mean?
  10. Pretty much, this things gives me the blues.........
  11. I am sure you don't mind that side effect :-) I will take dry skin anyday to get rid of this fat!!!! Plus the added bonus of keeping the skin moist, I am sure will help the skin issue.
  12. Wowzer chica! You look great. Your skin looks amazing!!! Congratulations.
  13. That is awesome! Congratulations on your successes.
  14. Cheri, you look great! Congratulations on maintenance and your pregnancy.
  15. I have BCBS Federal too. I hear overall the BCBS is more liberal overall with their approvals. I have spoken to them twice and they want to make sure we are following their requirements. Of course if you call they cannot reassure you, however, if you submit your records and you doctor can vouch that this surgury is necessary, I can not see them harping on the fact ur bmi may have fallen to 39.....good luck.
  16. Congratulations on your jump! You sound so positive and so enlighting. Thanks for the details, it really helps us preop'ers! Wishing u the best in your recovery!!!
  17. Justine, Thanks for sharing u story. It is interesting. I have been in therapy several times in my life. My own very favorite therapist would be considered morbidly obese, so I walways assumed she had underlying issues, but even with that she was able to help me. I am in a very happy, loving marriage. I sometimes feel that people look at me as if I should have no problems. So then they dump on me and I carry their stress. I am in a situation now, just because where we live it is stressful. I feel finally free because the friends that were dumping on me are no longer here or they found someone else to dump on. Sometimes I feel like screaming, "I am weak sometimes, sometimes I need a shoulder!!!" I totally related with your entry. I am glad that you were able to take time out for you and make a decision for you. Good luck in your journey!
  18. So aspiring! Wishing you the best.
  19. One of my past best friends had RNY in like 2004. She lied to me and our other good friend, saying she had stomach cancer. Let me tell u, it caused a rift in all our friendships with her. She had so many issues with making this decision. At this point we are no longer besties and do not talk on a regular. I would not ask her opinion or thoughts. Honestly, I feel more comfortable with the people here that share their experience and my own online research. We all have so many reasons for deciding to go forth with this. Some are more comfortable than others and friends sometime have a jaded viewpoint. No saying they don't care, but people are often time so quick to tell the negative and forget about the positive. Forgive any typos-I hate typing on my blueberry....
  20. You look awesome! Congratulations. I hope you bought that sundress, it is super cute on you!!!!
  21. That sucks, but I am sure you will set them straight in no time! It seems reoccurring with so many offices they forget something.
  22. hahahahaah...you guys are too funny.....
  23. They may be different from the State requirements, but I went on FEPBLUE and I would think all FED employees follow that or does each Agency do something different?
  24. Yeah, it is some hormone that is released from the pituitary gland or something. Girl, I don't know. I was reading about it on WEBMD LMAO!
  25. Yeah, I am not to sure. Some people said they had it, but not many. I guess they want to see if I am stressed?!? I had never heard of it before.
