  1. I'm sorry you have to deal with people like that in your life. Fortunately, this forum is a great place to vent and get the support you need. Keeping your surgery a secret is completely understandable and is totally a personal choice, in my case I don't really care whether people know or not, I guess fear of failure it's always lurking on the back of our heads, but if you put it in perspective, you will realize that you just got a great tool that grants you a big advantage in this battle. I wish you the best
  2. Good luck!!! I hope you do awesome!
  3. It's when your skin starts turning green from all the vegetables you have to eat everyday It's actually when after a few fills you finally get the right restriction for you, where you don't feel hungry and can sustain a desired weight loss without starving. I'm hoping I get there soon myself.
  4. Great topic Carolina, My great motivation are my two kids, not only on this journey but in all aspects of my life. I've always tried really hard to set a great example for them and the only thing that I wasn't able to control was my weight. Also, I'm in a point in my life where I can enjoy my kids, take them camping, fishing, play sports with them and even though I do a lot of that, I want to be able to keep that up for many years to come. In second place would be my health, I don't want to be forty or fifty and have to deal with all the consequences of obesity, I've seen my uncle get a stroke and be reduced to a life of complete codependance and his quality of life is horrible. And this might sound cheesy but I am also hoping that I would find the perfect woman for me, I am ready to give love another try...... and hopefully this time it won't break my heart.
  5. Thanks again Mis73, it's really comforting to read your replies and this forum is a great way to find information and answers to our concerns. Keep up the great work and I would like for you to keep me posted on your progress.
  6. I hope you do great Monica ! Like TKW said, the band is a great TOOL, and with your determination you will be a success. I'm getting my first fill this Thursday so let's see how my tool works............................wait that kinda came out wrong..
  7. I hope you're doing well after your surgery, I'll see if I can convince the nurse to give me 5cc on Thursday
  8. That's a great idea Mis73, thanks! I think I'm gonna do the spreading the calories trick. I see you've lost a lot of weight, super congrats on that, how do you feel with your new 3cc fill? is it working for you? or do you feel that you need another fill?
  9. Update: Hi guys, I'm sad to inform you that I gained 5lbs I just haven't been able to eat the 4oz of food every three hours. I'm constantly hungry, maybe because my band is empty but I can eat as much as before the surgery. Anyways, my first fill is scheduled for this Thursday Aug 16th, and I am really hoping that this will finally get me back on track....crossing my fingers and I will let you know
  10. They gave me Optifast shakes, three flavors, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, really good. I had to take five a day. It wasn't that difficult to stick to the regimen. After the second day your body kinda goes in shock or something and you stop having those powerful cravings. This is my tenth day pot -op and I feel really good. I walked two miles and jogged one. No pain at all. If you don't like your shakes change them for another brand that suits you better, any GNC or nutrition store will have a nice variety. Don't sweat the small stuff and focus on the big picture. I hope you do great!
  11. Hi Yannet, Xsentric is right on the money. Also, I assume because of your age that you haven't been married for too long, how was he (sexually) before getting married?
  12. 51 lbs ??? !!!!! You're an animal bro!!! congratulations!!!! Keep up the good work and keep us posted, that's amazing
  13. thanks for the replies guys! I'm on my fourth day post-op and I'm on full liquids, which means I don't feel as weak as before it's good to have some nutrients. I still don't feel like myself, a little nauseus but the pain is minimal (Percocet rules!! . I haven't weighted myself yet. I have an appointmentent this monday, so I'll find out then, I'll let you know Have a great weekend !!
  14. Hi Guys. So I had my surgery yesterday and everything went great! better than expected, I'm in a lot less pain that I thought I was gonna be. Of course I'm taking percocet so that helps a lot. tomorrow I'm going back to work
  15. Thank you Daisychains! How do you feel about your lap band now? Are you used to it, do you find it hard on a day to day basis?
  16. I think sexual attraction has a lot to do with all of your senses. It's not just how the woman looks, but to me at least it has a lot to do with the way she carries herself, the way she smells, the way she talks to me and how she makes me feel overall. so I wouldn't determine whether I will be attracted to someone or not based on how I look, but based on what that person IS and how she makes me feel, it's all psychological, your brain tells you what to like.
  17. Thank you so much guys!, I will keep you informed of all the little ups and downs and I see you guys have also just started the journey, so let's keep each other informed. It's so nice to have support
  18. Hi everyone ! It's great to find this site, to share good and bad expreriences, but that's what support means. I'm scheduled to have my surgery this Monday July 23rd, 2012 and even though I am a little worried about the challenges ahead I am also very excited about the positive turn that my life is gonna take. I hope we can share our journeys together.
  19. Sojourner, That was incredible advice. Thanks !!!
