Funny how when I was 340 lbs I didnt want my husband to see me naked and now at 155 I still dont. I finally showed him my belly this morning with the lights on... I just feel like I look good with my clothes on and then you unwrap me an I have hanging skin. Now I dont think it looks as bad as I have seen some look but am still self concious. I am still thrilled with my results but at my age of 45 I dont hold out much hope of my skin bouncing back. Too bad we cant donate extra skin to burn victims!! You cant.. I have researched it!!
  4. I cant hardly do a regular scrambled egg. But I can do crustless quiche using southwest egg beaters just fine. I can also do regular deviled eggs. I think scrambled maybe too dry???? And I dont really care for the consistancy of a soft scramble.
  5. too funny but I was thinking... damn I would need a bathtub for all my marbles...
  6. I agree with Don. You will probably stay around 800 for awhile. I would focus on protein grams instead of calories. Protein is so key in this whole process. I only just really started focusing on calories because I am trying to maintain the weight I am and not lose any more.
  7. Geez Debbie G thanks. Made me blush a little. It can be done. Surgery weight was 340 lbs. Date of surgery 02/21/12. I have been at 158-155 for the last 2 months. Feel great. Feel sassy!! Best thing I ever did. Loose skin....psssh... I can cover that crap up til My husband wins the lottery and I can get some "work" done. This is an awesome tool that is Life changing in so many ways. Patience is key!!! You can do this. It does take hard work and dedication and a great mind set.
  8. Same thing happened to me. Had an ablation done 3 months ago which stops periods in like 85 percent of the people months 1 and 2 I had a period like I did before surgery... Normal... Which was way better then what I had been going thru. Nothing in month 3 so Maybe period free ??? Keeping my fingers crossed. Now with that being said I'm 45 and way past child bearing years so that's why I went with the ablation. Remember that your fat is releasing alot of hormones hence the heavier periods with some.
  9. Hate my arms and now that its summer I'm getting irritated!!!! Even normal short sleeved shirts look crappy with these gross arms. Venting!!!
  10. I don't know how the ones after surgery travel for jobs pleasure or whatever. Left for San Antonio Wednesday to see my daughter graduate from airforce basic training... Here until Sunday... And it's tough. Takes a lot of planning.. Also the stress of no scale... Yes I am a scale-aholic!! Making me crabby!! Upside so proud of my daughter. She graduated with honors... Top 10% of her class!!!
  11. the only thing I found tolerable is putting a scoop of protein powder in my coffee. Yes I drink one cup of coffee a day but I am also 14 months out. I find it is the only way to get those important grams in first thing in the morning. I dont like the consistancy the powder makes yogurt or puddings. It is so important to get that protein in. Not only for our hair but for the bodies vital organs and muscle.
  12. We "American" girls can help too... ha!!! Good luck on your journey!!
  13. Daughter is in her last week of basic training and I raided her closet Size 8 jeans from American eagle Medium cardigan from New York and co I feel..... Normal Surgery feb 21 2012 sw 340 cw 155 been holding steady at 155-158 for about a month and a half... I'm happy!!
  14. I went twice. Once to fill out the questionnaire and second time for results and talk about it. Personally thought it was a waste of money and time... but thru the hoops we jump!!
  15. Serously it took me a good 3 months to feel "normal". Make sure you are getting all your fluids in and protein and vitamins... all the usual stuff. If you havent started some sort of exercise routine might I also suggest that. I know it sounds weird and that it would make you even more tired... but it really will give you more energy if you just start with walking 20-30 minutes a day. I know at 11 weeks I was still fighting the whole mind thing of not being able to eat like everyone else which made me cranky and tired. Be proactive... make yourself get up and move. It will and does get better. If you arent feeling more energy after another week I would definatly contact your doctor if you havent already
  16. Just a word of caution... Dont move to quickly into stages. The pouch needs time to heal which is why the guidelines are there. Good luck on your appointment.
  17. Then might I suggest a nutritionist if you aren't seeing one already. I don't know what to tell you to eat. Sometimes we have to put forth effort on doing stuff we don't like to do to get the end result we want
  18. Protein dense foods contain greater amounts of protein in grams versus other nutrient components, namely fat and carbohydrate. Meats such as lean beef, chicken, lamb and turkey are protein dense. There are also protein dense foods that come from plant sources including nuts, nut butters, seeds, beans and tofu. Fish is high in protein, and along with nuts, also contains healthy fats. Switching from a diet high in carbohydrates to one that focuses more on protein intake can be beneficial for weight loss. Many high protein foods have fewer calories than high carbohydrate foods, leading to a lower daily caloric intake. Protein also takes more time to digest so it causes you to feel fuller longer. Protein is an essential nutrient for building muscle mass. Each time we exercise we damage muscle fibers. The amino acids in protein allow the body to repair and build cells. This repairing and rebuilding is what allows muscles to maintain and grow in size and strength. Including more protein dense foods from plant sources is a healthy way to get necessary protein and improve health. Nuts such as cashews, pecans and peanuts, and seeds such as pumpkin and sunflower are great to snack on throughout the day. They add more protein to your diet, and instead of unhealthy saturated fat that accompanies many protein dense meats, they contain polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, both which can reduce the risk of heart disease. Polyunsaturated fats can lower total cholesterol--both HDL (good) and LDL (bad). Monounsaturated fats can lower total cholesterol and LDL, but raise HDL.
