You don't want to to lose weight so quickly then you will have loose skin. I've found lifting weights prevents loose skin and stretch marks.< /p>

Agree with this. My own experience with OA has been that its good support, but the members do tend to judge. Sorry if others don't agree, but my experience. I will tell a sponsor only. Losing weight, being happy, maintaing weight loss is my goal. 12 steps are great, but due to the judging, I will only tell a sponsor.

Thanks guys! I'm going to avoid Pasta and bread as they are high in calories and have little nutritional value. When I consume flour or sugar I want MORE so I'm going to abstain from flour and sugar. I really want sushi though!!!!

I was banded 4 days ago liquid motrin and gas ex have been my savior! The first 2 days were ROUGH! I was miserable in pain and couldn't sleep through the night. My advice to you is to WALK! The first day I walked around my apt in circles it really helped with the gas pressure. Today is the first day that I have minimal pain more like discomfort. I started taking walks on the 2nd day and having been getting better and better each day.

I do not think it is okay, your dr gave you an eating plan for a reason, your stomach needs to heal, even if you feel good on the outside, chances are you are still swollen and stitches have not healed on the inside Trying to digest food right now is making your stomach work and they do not want it working.
I have been banded for 12 days and am not allowed to eat mashed potaoes yet. If it falls off a spoon I can have it. shakes, smoothies, yogurt, pudding, Soup.........that is about it. Eat 3-5 oz every 3hrs, get a Protein shake in you, but don't mess with your healing.
You ask if this will be successful in your weightloss.......if you can't follow dr's orders for your post op eating plan how are you going to adjust your eating with your band for life.............because we all know we can eat around the band.
Sorry to be a bit harsh, but I paid $16,000 out of my own pocket for my surgery and there is no way I would risk throwing that money away because I was hungry..........I would just have another Protein rich shake or smoothie
    Good luck to you.

Yeah I don't get that, either. I've never vomited in the almost 9 months I've had the band. I'd probably freak out if I did, being honest. In my opinion, people like that girl you speak of vomiting daily to lose weight has now crossed over to being bulimic. It's a very slippery, dangerous slope.

being skinny will not make you happy (nor will being
    unhealthy)
you just had major surgery a couple of weeks ago. so you are still healing and tired. bless your heart.
    congrats and
i am so proud of you.

the (not being able to eat) is mainly so that your insides can heal properly. by eating (food) too early you could hurt yourself. please dont cry and dont be depressed. it does get better and you will be happy you had this surgery in the long run.

i had this surgery (to save my life literally). i couldnt hard walk.
it was either have this surgery or eventually they'd have to cut out my walls of my house to get me out. i am sure of it. now that was depression.

you will be able to have wine again and have birthday cake and whatever you want. but just heal for now. i see your profile picture, my gosh you are gorgeous. put a smile on that face. chin up. shoulders back and say to yourself, i am so worth it.

    because you are

I've posted this before, but I thought it was relevant to your post here:
Years ago, when I was at my thinnest (after nearly starving myself and losing 30 lbs in 6 weeks), I bought a denim mini skirt. That mini skirt attracted male attention--attention that I was not comfortable with! I unconsciously put on 5lbs--just enough that the mini skirt no longer fit--and then I felt a wierd sense of relief that I didn't have to wear that skirt again! Fat has some benefits that we often don't want to admit we're ok with: fat lets us be in the background; fat says I don't have to compete fashion-wise, sex-wise, friends-wise, work-wise; fat says I'm off the market sexually and will be a faithful wife; fat says I can get by with just being the funny one; fat says I'm motherly and nurturing; fat says I'll be the one that survives a famine; fat can make me feel larger that life; fat can make me feel protected and shielded...! Fat can bury so many emotions and protect us from ourselves and/or our pasts. As the weight comes off, we begin the excavation of our past selves, and that can be very uncomfortable. We are all so much more than just our bodies. Good luck!

dj112 got a reaction from LiveStrong41 in Surgery Scheduled For Sept 25Th And Having Doubts :(
I have a month to change my mind as I can cancel the surgery up until the day before. After I set the date the surgery became very real. I've been researching lapband surgery for quite some time now and I'd rather be fat then disconnect or remove 85% of my stomach. I have done tons of research reading the success stories and the horror stories. I'm skeptical about the lifespan of the band and if it is really permanent. It is not designed to be temporary yet people are having them removed after 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10 years. I think I need to stop reading the life after lapband removal board. It is normal to be scared and cautious about any surgery. I don't have any health conditions and am self pay so its pretty much elective.

Eating/drinking ice cream after WLS totally defeats the purpose of having the surgery IMO.
