No trouble here with the spiciness if the buffalo recipe. I looked forward to eating something a bit spicy and flavorful! I was a bit unsure, as you, with my first few bites. But no problems so far. I've been putting Tabasco on my morning egg and Sriracchi (sp?) on my refried beans! Love it! So glad my new little stomach still likes the spice!

Hi everyone! Just thought I would check in. I was sleeved on 1/28/13. I haven't really had any recovery problems to speak of and am just toodling along.
I have been doing more reading than posting lately and am noticing lots of people upset over weight loss stalls. Am I the only person that will weigh myself only once a month? I haven't even gotten on a scale since surgery because I decided I would wait until my first post op appt which is next Tuesday. That will be nearly a month before I weigh in for the first time.
I refuse to be a slave to the scale. I have already been there done that for 20 yrs. I decided as long as I was following my doctors and NUTS orders that it would all work out in time. After my first weigh in next Tuesday I won't weigh myself for another month.
I personally feel like stepping on the scale too much will play with mentally and I don't want to be discouraged. Just thinking my thoughts out loud, but maybe some of you should stay off the scale and give your body a chance to catch up?

I am (was) a fellow monthly weigher, too. After about 3 weeks post-op, and weighing myself daily, I read a post from a woman that went something like this:

    WTH!!!
I weighed myself at lunch and I am 0.3 pounds heavier than this morning! Tonight, I weighed an additional 0.2 pounds! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG! I KNEW I WOULD FAIL AT THIS!!! I was like, "Woa, I don't want to be like that." I knew that I could easily be this was as I can tend to be obsessive about things. From then on I weighed only once a month and saw a loss every time. I never saw a stall and was never discouraged by my progress. As I tell lots of people here, the scale lies to you. It only measures weight loss, not fat loss, and that is what I was looking to lose.
Congrats on weighing once a month. It was the best decision for me.

Are you getting 64oz of liquids daily? If not the answer is you should be getting 0 Protein. If the answer is yes, then get in as much as you can without sacrificing hydration. Ultimately if you can pull it off 64oz of hydration & 60g+ of protein is ideal.

I haven't really experienced any change in my mental state post surgery. I had made peace with being fat, if that makes any sense, and I've made peace with losing weight. My decision to have surgery was a rational decision, though I really pursued it on a whim (my thought process was "Hm, why not consider surgery?"). Those around me say I seem to be in a better mood, and in all honesty I do feel better physically. I get a psychological boost from the positive physical changes and try to take any setbacks (stalls, complications, etc.) in stride.
I think it's because, all in all, I've developed an accepting attitude to the entire thing. Whatever happen will happen and I won't be able to control everything, so I might as well just do what I can and not sweat the rest.

I appreciate all the positive feedback! I too, at this point in my journey, find it difficult to get in as much protein/nutrition as I needed. So I haven't really felt like I was doing any "mindless eating" ~ just trying to make smart choices! I continue to make a conscience effort to be aware of each and every bite ~ and enjoying the fact that finally my goal is within reach for the first time in a very long while : )

I'm sorry you had a rough day - but don't let this get in the way of your anniversary. Reflect on the reasons you love each other, the reason you fell in love with him  Maybe end the night with a little shoulder massage for him and some kind, gentle words. It may just be reciprocated! It's tough, we all have our ups and downs - this surgery can really take its toll as we adjust to our new bodies, new habits, and new lifestyle. Sending hugs your way and positive thoughts

January Sleevers. I went back to work full time on Monday. Both Monday and Tuesday I worked all day with no issues. Tuesday evening I tried to eat some of my mothers potato Soup. She even puréed it for me!
It was so good I ate it too fast and I filled up quickly. I didn't get really sick but just didn't feel well. I went to lay down around 6:45pm. I was going to lay down long enough to let my stomach ache pass. I fell asleep and never woke until 7:30 this morning! I am sure my body needed the sleep as that is an important part of recovery.
My issue with this is that when I woke this morning I was already behind the 8 ball with my Water and Protein. It set me back all day long! Matter of fact, this is the worst day I have had since surgery. I'm just nauseous and feeling a little week. I did manage to get 70 ounces of Water in today because I am afraid of being dehydrated.
I also just had a small portion of my moms potato soup tonight with some Protein powder mixed in. I couldn't get much Protein in today because of being so nauseous.
Help? Did I do the right thing by at least getting my water in? I sure hope I feel better tomorrow.

Ok. To all the people who have recently had surgery. Heed my post. I had my first rut roh today! Was craving something with flavor so I heated up some progressive light beef and barley Soup. Strained it down to the broth, which wasn't much.
The first sip tasted sooooo good. It was hot and savory and yummy. So much more flavorful than any liquid I have had in 2 weeks. Well my excitement got the best of me and I must have sipped too much, too fast.
I got cramps in my stomach and my chest started to hurt and OMG I had to go lay down for about a half hour before I felt better.
Let me just say this: on the plus side I didn't throw up and I am a VERY quick learner. I will NOT do that again. Holy freaking pain batman!

Yeah it's rough. Be careful when u go into the mushy stage you don't do that again. I still have some issues where I have eaten too fast or drank too fast. The sleeve will let you know every time.
