Are you getting 64oz of liquids daily? If not the answer is you should be getting 0 protein. If the answer is yes, then get in as much as you can without sacrificing hydration. Ultimately if you can

5 days out I would worry more about liquids. All docors are different mine didn't care/stress about protein till weeks 3-4, and then solid food stage and wanting me to get 60-120G/daily

At 5 days out you should probably not worry about the exact numbers but get as much as you can in. I was one of the fortunate ones who didn't have any trouble drinking post op so i was drinking 3 shakes a day for the first 2 weeks.

I'm close o 64oz. I just started drinking the protein because I felt so hungry and had been puking a few times. My doc has said to get the protein in, so I just wasn't sure how much.

I am 16 days post-op, from everything that I have read the goal is at least 60-80 grams of protein a day. I have also read that as time goes on you should get in as much protein as possible and try to limit your carbs to less than half of the amount of protein that you take in.

I have 2 protein shakes a day which equals 60 grams of protein and now that I have advanced to the soft/mushy foods I am finding that I am easily able to get in 80 grams a day.
