  1. Did you or do you plan on going alone? At first I was thinking about bringing my husband and kids but i have serious doubts about bringing the kids. I think i would rather them stay in the states. I hear that the area is not as bad as people make it sound, but i have never been there.
  2. Yay! Maybe I will see you?
  3. I made me appt with dr kelly for August 15! Omar has been amazing! He literally responds within minutes! I wish I would have went this route months ago!
  4. I just need to say that I am so thankful for this forum and everyone in it! I am so excited!! 3 weeks to go!
  5. Going to mexico!! The crazy thing is, I have never even considered going for surgery. But something in me changed. I think mostly i am just fed up. I was paying cash for my surgery where i live. Not only is it 3 times the cost of going to Mexico, But I also paid 2k out of pocket for testing. Then when I had a date, i was so excited and then got a call that I needed to be rescheduled for a month later. I had worked my butt off to jump through every hoop (not insurance company hoops) I was heart broken. So, after reading through hundreds of posts on here, my husband and i sat down and made a decision.....Mexico! I got in touch with Dr.Kelly yesterday and by the end of the day I had a surgery date, flights, everything! I feel so at peace with my decision. So now I have questions.......What is the area like? Did people go with you? Did you like the hospital/hotel? Did you feel safe?
  6. Jen C: congrats!! What a positive attitude you have! I am soooo looking forward to my new life after surgery. I used to be so outgoing and fun! Now i decline invitations because i am worried i wont fit into chairs/booths, or wont fit in period. Nothing sticks out more than a chubby girl in a room full of 100 pound chicks not that 100 pounds is even close to my goal
  7. I would say 90% of the people I tell are very encouraging and excited for me. But there is the 10% that cant find anything nice to say, or even pretend. And it makes me mad when they say: "arent you scared?"~~~No! Frankly, i am scared not to! "I could never do that!"~~~~well then i am glad you dont need to! Why cant you just stop eating bad?~~~~ actually i dont eat "bad". But i need help Etc, etc, etc LOL! And even though most of my friends are very supportive, i dont feel like they understand it at all. Thank God for my husband and kids! We dont have any family living in washington. But all of our families are supportive.
  8. I am getting mine on Sept. 5th too! In Spokane, Wa
  9. Wildflower: congrats on your surgery how are you feeling? My girlfriend just had it dine n Mexico too! I dont know where though! COnative: my husband is extreemly supportive. Went to every appt with me and is my rock! He is even drinking the Protein shakes with me Precious cargo: thank you how are you doing?
  10. My name is Niki, i am getting my surgery on September 5th. I know a lot of people who have had wls, but only 1 who has had the sleeve, and she just did 2 days ago ) And although everyone seems to support my decision to have wls, I dont feel like very many of my friends understand what I am going through. About me: I am 32 Happily married for 12 years 2 kids Live in Washington Looking for support
  11. I am self pay in Spokane, Wa. My self pay price is $15,000. But there was also about 2,000 in testing that I also had to pay out of pocket. It stinks, but Our insurance plan has wls excluded.
