Sometimes I let myself get too hungry and what I really want is a cheeseburger. This is totally trigger. I'm ravenous and get a cheeseburger. I usually take half the bun off. I have my mins set that I'm going to eat this burger. Then the restriction kicks in usually with discomfort for eating too fast. I hate it. I'm mad because the head hunger is powerful and I want to eat the whole damn burger. There are other irrational thoughts like: I know what I'm choosing right now. I know how to control this. Still the tool holds and I've eaten half a burger. I find the gratitude and remember that I can not let myself get this hungry. 18 months out and this has happened maybe 3 times. It's just really powerful because I don't have the choice to stuff my gob when I feel out of control. I love my sleeve.

Being able to swap clothes, shows and boots with my friends and taking their hand-me-downs so I don't have to buy clothes until I recover from PS Hands down THE BEST NSV is while hugging me, my son says :awe mom, I can put my arms all the way around you!"
  3. A girl can dream, plot,...thanks for the answer.
  4. Congratulations, Butter, et al. I've read all the way through. I have a consult scheduled for 1/10. I wonder if any of you who've had TT noticed a benefit to lateral or medial thighs? Also, how much did TT help lift pubis area? How you all describe post op positioning and pain/discomfort reminds me a lot of my post op ventral hernia repair. I think I may not be a TT candidate because I have mesh in my lower abdomen. I'll know after 1/10.
  5. Is there a setting so my searches, in general, only show posts from VSG members? I really don't want to sort through so many other post that totally don't apply/help/inform. Thanks!
  6. I love Emma Patterson. She saved my life. I've had VSG then three months later, a hernia repair that could not be done during the sleeve. I did not care for one of her PAs but that person is gone now. I have great experiences with all of her other staff. I also get along well with Dr Raum.

My hips get sore when my I.T. Bands get tight. They're hard to stretch. So, I foam roll. No lie, it'll make you sweat bullets until the fibers break up and it's totally worth it. You Tube search foam rolling good luck!
  8. Oregon, here! VSG July 2012.
  9. I'm about 15 mos PO. I'm beginning the search for a plastics surgeon. There are three main surgeons in the city closest to me. I really only like the work and reviews of one of them. I am considering US travel. Do you think the Real Self website is a good source for finding surgeons to further research? What other sources have you used? What do you think about surgeons charging for consultation? Thanks for the tips!

Usually it's 4 weeks because they don't want you to fall off the treadmill
  11. Have you been tested for H Pilori?
  12. Get med evac insurance and go!
  13. Pumpkinhead321 I track daily! Add me!!!
  14. I guess I also want to say, "because tracking my food does work for me". Lol. Also, I don't weight my food. I too used to weight and measure everything in every diet i tried since age 10 and I am pretty dang accurate. So glad that's behind me.
  15. The research on WLS patients 5 plus years out with 10 pounds or less regain do three things: track their food, exercise and belong to a community/support group. I'm 10 months post op and 16 months working with my medical team and tracking. I think I would honestly consider why I want to stop tracking and evaluate my answer for long term success before I stopped. If I was bored of tracking that wouldn't be a good enough reason for me to risk regain, for example.
  16. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Yay you! Rock that sleeve.
  17. What are you doing for exercise?
  18. A couple thing are coming up for me. One is that it sounds like you are overtraining. You've been managing a lot of inflammation for about a month. I get it. I go through periods of overtraining. Usually I'm chasing endorphin and adrenaline and feel like I can fly until I'm sore everywhere. Second thing. Cardio and resistance training schedules are so personal. Some of it is how you and feel some is science. I really encourage you to listen to your body. I dance for cardio an hour three days a week. Some weeks way more if there are jams (dance equivalent to marathons). Think 11 kinds of movement blended with martial arts all in an hour. It's crazy fun. The best part is each routine has three levels. If I'm injured I will dance level 1. I mostly dance level 3. This can be an issue for retaining lean muscle mass. It's a lot of burn. Still I build a lot of core muscle and leg muscle. I do not go more than 24 hours between resistance training sessions. Forty eight at the most if I need to recover. I work out in a very nice club that promotes all the trends in fitness. What I know is that the PT have clients on a mix of straight up resistance training and Crossfit. I do cross fit once or twice a week at the most. Because I crazy dance and that is my love. If I did Crossfit two-three days a week at 45-50 minutes, I'd be overtraining and I'd have to drop one of my dance classes. I think you love crossfit and you could consider changing your running schedule. Crossfit is so explosive I mix it up and I have great results. I'm not tired or hitting the wall. It's finding that training sweet spot for your body. This is what works for me. No" shoulds" and all I "want to". Life is good. Sleeved life is awesome. Good luck!
  19. How much do you want to spend? *cheeky grin* Asics, Saucony, Brooks Ita that it's wise to be fitted in a well-reputed running/walking store if you're gonna spend 100$ on shoes! (Not those big box chain stores) Nike are narrow in the toe box. NB has a good history and offer many options for width and soles. Adidas slide right off my heals. Puma's are fun and funky I work out (aerobic) in asics. I've had Saucony and brooks. I walk around in Nike's and lift weights and run errands in Converse. lol. It's very personal, IMHO.
  20. I too was put on Actigal post-op. Once a day for one year. No gallbladder symptoms.
  21. I work out six days a week. It's important to me to preserve my lean muscle mass. When I needed to increase my calories but had too much restriction, my NUT supported drinking calories. Healthy calories. So I drink soy milk when I can't get to 1200 with food. I also use the premier shakes to boost Protein and calories. (I don't have a hard time getting protein, though.) I also eat food that tend to slide, like cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. I add salsa to the cottage cheese to keep it interesting. I know cottage cheese isn't a slider for every one, but it is for me. I also eat a lot of Beans. Really dense protein is what keeps me full and if i eat meat at every meal, it prevents me from getting the calories I require now. Your capacity will change. You're right on the cusp of that change. Good luck
  22. Its my pleasure! walking is great for weight loss. It helps preserve lean muscle mass and promotes fat loss instead of muscle loss is WLS patients. Lean muscle is in all your organs as well as muscle. I believe that why some people age with rapid weight loss; They are losing too much lean muscle. People think they need to sweat and train cardiovascular and for WLS patients this is not tire and can in fact cause you to burn muscle as your body tries to hold onto fat. Light resistance training is a must! I hear you on the arthritis; still, some form of weight training is really important. You'll get to the pool before you know it. As you lose that arthritis will improve. The overall cellular inflammation is so improved!!! Just keep movin! You'll get it sorted.
  23. To get your MINIMUM Protein requirement you multiply your current body weight by .3 Example 170 x .3 = 53 This person would eat a minimum of 55 gr. of protein a day. This is a basic formula my surgical team uses. What are you doing to move your body? Dense Proteins really help with hunger and snacking. If you're full of chicken you will not be as inclined to snack. Try trading snacking for sipping. Do it gradually so you don't trigger feeling deprived but let that be "the thing" you are working on. You metabolism needs to know you've made a change. Snacking doesn't force the issue
