January 2013 Planking Challenge
I read where someone's back was hurting? I think it has resolved? If your low back hurts, you have a couple options: raise your butt a bit more (then your core is engaged and not your low back) or modify the plank by lowering to your knees until your back is better

Salmon bones, the small ones, are soft and full of calcium! You could try buying small, cooked pieces from a deli counter. Find what you like. It's more expensive; still, you can control how much you're buying and get goo ideas of what you like and how to prepare it. So many good ideas! Have you nosed around here: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/?m=1

I tried zumba!
Hi mistysj! I agree with lipstick 3-5 classes if you go a couple times a week so your body can pick it up. Learn the feet first and let your body get that then add the arms. Have fun, let go and laugh when you go the wrong way

Circumferential Body Lift Done 12/6
Lower body lift and breast lift with augmentation. Surgeon said I can resume light aerobic activity at 2 weeks. No core work for 6. I had ventral hernia repair (lower abdomen) with mesh. So I totally relate to not standing up straight or being able to get up etc. I wore compression garments to support the muscles. The plastic surgeon said my metabolic rate would triple in recovery and I'd have to eat a lot to maximize healing and minimize weight loss. I can't imagine how much food that'll be. I already eat 1800 calories. I see you did drink a lot of Water. That does help me. It sounds like too much activity too soon really is a no no. It's soooooooo good for me to read this. The surgeon told me not to do much of anything for 2 weeks (hence the splitting of hairs). I really appreciate all the journaling. It's reinforcing the messages and helping me make it mental.

Circumferential Body Lift Done 12/6
I am sensitive to sodium and will get edema just looking at it. I'm wondering if you had a tendency to retain fluid preop? Also, were you drinking a lot of water during recovery? I know fluid and swelling is par for the corse in surgery, I'm just trying to glean my own insights knowing what I know about how I do with recover. Does that make sense?

Circumferential Body Lift Done 12/6
I am preop plastics but I asked the surgeon, "is 2 weeks 10 days or 14?" She laughed and said 14! "Not a day sooner. Since when is 2 weeks 10 days?" I really was hoping it'd be 10

Incisional hernia or something else?
How's it going? What's the ct show?

Twenty two thousand dollars
Surgery just sucks. It's true: you have to want it to be a good candidate for the recovery.

Torn
So life post divorce. What do you see? You lose a lot of control over your son's exposure/experiences. This is the hard part, IMHO. The things you fight about magnify and you no longer have any say. What happens at his house is his business. Just stuff to think about. It's been a blessing in your first marriage. Just gotta have a plan....

Twenty two thousand dollars
So exciting to have a plan, goals and desires for life and to know what works for you. Yea, recovery in the holiday season not so much. I had ventral hernia repair in early Nov and Thanksgiving that year was a trip!

A private surgical center does help with cost and for that I'm grateful! I have to stay overnight because if the lower body lift. May I ask, why are you waiting two years? I hope it works out for you, too.

What is it you don't like?

It works
That doesn't sound weird. That sounds skillful because you're aware. In many ways that is mindful eating. The tv thing is all that mindless eating people get into night after night. I think what you're describing is different! I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner. I'm mobile 99% of the time and the notifications are wonky.

so can you stand up straight yet?
What is the scar treatment? Is it Rx or over the counter?

What time of day do you exercise and why ?
It really depends on what I'm doing and what my goals are. Usually I go to dance/martial arts in the morning, hot yoga at night, weight train whenever I can on the days I have set aside. I prefer to train hard in the morning/mid-morning. That's when I have the most control over my day and my commitment. Sometimes I go to the club in the middle of the day because there's a great Pilates/yoga class and it works on my schedule. I have a ready gym bag in my car I think it's important to say that I have always been active. I like to "exercise". It's fundamental to my mind and body. I think what I've learned is that when I really LOVE what I'm doing, I put my wellness first and make it fit. I would totally NOT do this to walk on a treadmill. Lol. Sorry. It's not such a straight forward answer.

Twenty two thousand dollars
I was sleeved July 2012. Forty pounds ago I past the surgeon's goal. I just said my body will decide. I follow the rules. I eat clean. I train or dance 6 days a week. Well, I just didn't stop losing weight. I feel I've probably been "at goal" for a few months but I still lose at least 2 pounds a month. The plastic surgeon (who works frequently with my bariatric surgeon) told me to stop, increase my calories and I'd be thrilled with my results. I just really have very little fat on my body. (She showing me as she's manipulating my hanging skin.) So I asked her about "how long" she wants me to be stable. She said it's not about how long before I can have surgery, it's about eating more and not losing anymore. Okay. I get it. It's not easy but I will lose a minimum of 5 pounds of skin/fat in surgery and my BMR will triple in recovery!!! Spin will lose weight, too. To triple my BMR results in a really high calorie need. Higher than I can imagine and I eat 1800 calories now. This is why consults are so important. They can really look at YOU and what you need to do.

Post op diet stages
I'm a rule follower. Lol. It took me a while to get to fruit because of restriction. I really had to work to get Protein and veg. I also workout vigorously so I need a complex carb in the morning before a workout. This was true at 8 weeks. I did not really eat and enjoy salad until Spring. I could eat it at 6 months (January). I just had a hard time with raw veggies. I could even eat nuts before raw veg. Also, I couldn't eat much salad and it seemed a lot of work to only eat 1/4 cup and left a lot of waste. I made smoothies with berries, pineapple, peaches, etc straight away. I ate thin sliced apple with Peanut Butter probably as early as 8 weeks. So I only ate/eat fruit when it's paired with a protein. Protein, protein, protein! Meat really, really needs to be moist. That's the key. Anything greasy will likely cause you problems. So stay away from fatty meat.

I need so much help!
I did not see this before. Sorry. Endocrinologist are MDs who address the endocrine system: metabolic disorders, diabetes, thyroid problems are some common disease areas. They diagnose and treat. A lot of what others are talking about here. I still see mine because early in rapid weight loss my body really liked to eat muscle over fat. I was cold all the time, etc. He sorted out my BMR and helped me protect my lean muscle. I'm really grateful for him. I never stalled and I think it's because I had him helping me.

NSV lately?
That's what I'm talkin about!!! Yea! Best NSV <3

Post op diet stages
At 6 weeks I could advance my diet as tolerated. That means right off the plate. I stayed pretty soft. Chewed stuff to mashed potato consistency. I ate lentils. I preferred savory to sweet. I ate a lot of mashed beans. You can thin anything with chicken stock. Lol. Some things I just couldn't eat for 6 months. It's a lot of trial and error you build in around your mainstays. I ate cottage cheese with salsa. Beans. Yogurt. Moist meat. Cook your meat in broth/sauce. Ground meat and raw veggies were hard to digest until 6 months. HTH. If you're hungry, eat! Just stop eating when you first notice it at your breastbone. This is truly your very personal connection to the journey.
