Ugh...bras!
If not for work, and having to leave the house looking sane...I would probably NEVER wear a bra again! When sitting, it feels as though this underwire is pressing on my diaphragm....and it ain't fun!

Anyone From New York?
1. sleeved on July 3, 2012 2. Empire blue cross/shield 3. Pre-op experience: Other than some administrative frustrations (people not sure if my tests were in, and recorded, et...) I had a good experience. I was a little'pushy'....I had no intentions on waiting 6 months for surgery! 4. Post-op: great! I came through the surgery with flying colors, never filled my pain meds once home. The Bariatric Team at Mercy Hospital, was supportive both pre and post op. I am down 12 lbs so far, and trying to not to weigh myself every hour! LMAO!

What Do You Tell People About Ypur Weightloss?
I have told my close circle of girlfriends, 4 of my co-workers, and a few others. I'm not embarrassed, I just didn't choose to tell 'others'. I CAN'T WAIT til I get to the point where people start asking what I have done to lose weight! Depending on the person,I will either tell them about my surgery, or I will use the whole low carb, high protein thing. I've actually considered the FB approach to letting people know, but don't want to do the weekly updates, or have all my interactions be about the surgery.

What Does This Surgery Do To Relationships?
At the risk of sounding heartless...I think the surgery, and your sickness, are merely excuses for someone who was weak, and cheated on you! Anyone who can cheat when you are at your most vulnerable, is a low-life. Just don't let HIS weaknesses impact your weight loss, and care for your daughter.

Where On Long Island Are You And Who Was Your Surgeon?

Where are the 50s ???

Where are the 50s ???
I have to tell you, my daughter did all the work in terms of finding us a good protein shake (we tested lots of them!) her surgery was June 6th, and so far, she has lost 40lbs! I am one week out, and have lost 11lbs. We have taken lots of "before" photos and look foward to those "after" photos. Even at 11lbs, this sleeve has been life-changing

Thought I Could Trust My Husband!
When I first told my husband about the surgery, he said" We don't have to tell ANYONE , only the 4 of us need to know (my 2 daughters). We'll do this together". HAHAAHAAAA! He tried to keep it shut, but men are such gossips! I think every one of his customers and family know EVERYTHING! ( I feel you on the in-law thing...)

Beat Me, Beat Me, Ooh Yeah Right There
My doctor said that although ground beef is ok...it is dry when cooked, which adds to the misery. he suggested roasted chicken shredded with mayo for added moisture. Tomorrow's dinner!

No Regrets, But I Broke Down And Cried Today
Beach season is short, after that, put on some spanx, and keep it moving! Hair loss: they make really good quality wigs these days, or consider hair extensions! Saggy butt: Victoria Secrets sells padded undies...check out a pair. Go shopping, and remember what it was like B.S. (before sleeve).

How Soon Did You Try Guacamole, Salsa, Hot Cheetos, Doritos? Sorry I Just Had Surgery On Tuesday And Omg :o Im Addicted To All Of That.
At the risk of sounding like a food general and a know-it-all...Please, do NOT start eating junk food! You have invested much (financially, psychologically, physically) to let yourself believe that "a little is ok". Find a healthy substitute. I don't know you from Adam, but I would hate to see you backslide, all because of a handful of chips...

What Do You Want To Do When You Are Healthier?
I rarely wear pantyhose, but in the winter months I occasionally wear opaque tights with skirts, and it is hell in the morning trying not to fall out of the chair while trying to get the damn toe portion onto my foot!

What Do You Want To Do When You Are Healthier?

What Do You Want To Do When You Are Healthier?
I forgot to include putting on hose without hyperventilating and having them all twisted and tight around my legs, and CROSSING MY LEGS!!!!!

What Do You Want To Do When You Are Healthier?
Wow. Where to start? Although we have an active social life, and I take pride in wearing nice clothes, there are ALOT of milestones I can't wait to reach: ***Go to a store, and not have to take the elevator downstairs to the fat section, which is always near the kitchen and bedding section. ***go to a Yankee game and sit comfortably in my seat...not upright, pretending to have perfect posture, when I'm really just trying to not to spill over into the other seats! ***Go shopping with a friend. What fun is shopping together when you are "floors apart" and you don't want to ask them to check for the 3x tops while you are in the fitting room~ ***if necessary, sharing a two-seater on my commuter train without holding my breath and getting numb from sucking my arms in! ***Yeah, those knee-high boots are on the list ***wrapping a bath towel around my body, and having the ends meet ***Having the tray table on the plane actually fold down all the way, and not risking spilling my drink which is always at a precarious angle! ***getting back to the dance studio and taking ballet barre classes. I took ballet for 15 years, and the thought of getting back to the barre at age 52, makes me weep. ***LIVING LIFE WITHOUT PHYSICAL BOUNDARIES!

Most Humiliating Fat Moment
EVERYONE LAUGHED SO HARD??? WTF??This is NOT okay!!!

Most Humiliating Fat Moment
Reading these stories, am reminded of how nasty humans can be. Obesity is one of those "things" that people feel they can comment on without recourse. Race, sexuality and weight were always topics that were openly targeted. We've (seemingly) reached a higher degree of sensitivity with regard to race. In the last couple of years, gay men and women have begun to (again, seemingly) enjoy basic human rights without the disgust often associated with them. But if you're 'heavy' 'overweight', or god forbid, 'obese'...there is no safe haven. People honestly feel it is their RIGHT to comment at-will on YOUR body! I will not be a hypocrite and say I have not silently commented on someone bigger than myself (misery loves company), but I would NEVER openly poke fun, criticize or comment to their face! It is astounding how mean and calculated some family can be. Anyone who would demean another at a family gathering (or anywhere) are dirtbags. Plain and simple. UGH! This topic makes my blood boil! Now, to answer your initial question: As a train commuter, I am ALWAYS aware of my seating options. If there are only spots left in a 2-seater, I will opt to stand...possibly an entire hour, rather than risk offending someone if I dare to go over the line by even a centimeter. I will use these stories as motivation.
