My Doc gave me a card to keep in my wallet that identifies me as a VSG patient and a list of things that can't be done and I can't be given. I was thinking of possibly getting the info on a dog tag type of thingy in case something ever happens and I'm not coherent enough to whip out my wallet and show someone the card since I'm really not a Bracelet type of guy.

I'm experiencing minimal gas and side pain and making sure that I balance rest with walking. I'm have the most difficulty remembering to sip!
Per my Doc's orders, I will begin introducing Protein shakes today and hope for the best.
I do hope all my fellow 9/7 Sleevers are doing well.

Here are some of the snide comments I have received and my answers to them:
"STOP losing weight! You're getting too skinny!" "NO!!"
"I guess I'm the fat friend in the group now." "You don't have to be any friend in the group now."
"I can see your face now since all that blubber and chub is gone." "Stop paying so much attention to me. Good day."
"I've lost X amount of pounds on my own." "Oh...really? Well I have a little Fairy Godmother who pops out and slaps food out of my hand. I guess I didn't do it on my own..."
"WLS is the easy way out. " "It sure was! You jealous?"
As you can see, I'm a bit sarcastic.

Good morning all! Today is one week since I was sleeved, I am down 14lbs. (27 total since preop diet). I feel good. I'm still on a liquid only diet, but am allowed to have thinned hot cereals. I'm having alot of discomfort when eating or drinking anything so I wind up getting only a bite in here and there. It kinda feels as if my pouch cramps up when food enters it. Water too. Warm things definitely go down easier than cold.
I have a check up with my surgeon tomorrow, he'll tell me I guess if this is normal. I'm struggling to get any protien in. Fluids are up to par though.
Have a great day fellow sleevers!!!

I am officially sleeved. Pain wasnt bad but i mostly slept all day. Im sore when i move around on the bed but otherwise nothing unexpected. My surgeon came in and stated it was textbook perfect and no surprises inside so im overall happy. Hope the others who have had or are having the sleeve this week do great!

MarKing15 reacted to BobBayCityMI in NSV shout outs
Hi all. I am now down roughly 60 pounds and seven weeks out from when I started my liquid pre-diet. Am also having some awesome NSV moments. Some are:

No longer wearing 3x shirts. They are packed and ready to be taken to Goodwill. My size 48 (expandable) pants? Gone too. Can button my pants at my belly button. No more "slant pants." I wore a much smaller belt...and it was a new one! Went three days this past week without needing a mid day nap. Three days now without any slimes or throwing up. Joined a local health club to work out. Snoring is all but gone. No more BP meds at all (125/65 is normal now). And BMs much more normal and less stressful. Bought myself an I-touch. That was my 50 pound loss gift to myself. Any suggestions for the 100 plateau? That's a short list, but ones that come to mind.

    Please, share yours!

Let's look at the fact that this journey is not just about the weight loss, but about all the wonderful things that continue to happen along the ride!

Yup, I put 6 pounds back on.
    Am I upset?
    Nope.
I know what I've been doing: squats, push-ups, bodyblade: http://www.bodyblade.com/en/, 1 hour walking a day. No change in diet.
My exercise routine had been put off long enough.
I knew that I lost some muscle mass during my rapid loss and that getting it back would tip the scales.
I anticipated gaining; muscles weigh more than fat but take up less space.
    I look good...actually better.
Health and energy are the primary goals. Looking good sneaks in there too.
I will not allow myself to be oppressed by the slandering, digital indicator under my feet!

It is simply, they got greedy and now will or should cost them your patronage. The way I see it that $3.00 just cost them hundreds of future dollars. Maybe I am ole school but I tip accordingly when they deserve it but today's generation expects to be rewarded for poor or nonexistent service today.

I don't frequent the board enough there are so many wonderful stories, of success, so figured I'd share mine.. I had the operation on march 12th of this year, started at 347lbs pre op, now I'm 224lbs, and feel great.. My ideal weight is 190lbs but i want 215 or so.. to hit that in under a year is amazing.. It's been amazing, not much as a single issue, haven't even had any nausea since the first time I woke up from my surgery.. Eating has been a learning experience, since I was a big eater, and enjoyed food.. Now I cherish a ice cream sandwich every now and then.. I have bat loads more energy, and my job has benefited from my productivity.. I read a lot of treads on here bout eating, and stuff and they were a tremendous help.. And for that I thank you guys! Well anyway here's a before and a after... Thanks again...

This is the number one reason I have kept my surgery from family and friends. Other than my wife and a few close friends, no one knows. I didn't want to have to justify myself at every turn or hear constantly what they thought I would never get to do again.
I'll make the necessary "I just had surgery" calls to family after my procedure and let my friends know as I see them.
Some may be upset, but I can live with that.
I've had enough to deal with myself over the last 6 months, I didn't want to add their drama as well.
    YMMV.

I just received word that insurance has approved my surgery. I will be going in October 4th and have already lost 8 lbs. It doesn't seem like much, but I think I'm trading fat for muscle. I was really excited and wanted to share the news.

My Doctor only requires one day of a prep diet, 2 if you want to count the actual day of surgery. I go in next Wednesday for my pre-op paperwork and get all of my post-op diet instructions and start the pre-op diet the following day (Thursday) with surgery that Friday.
I've got so much to do, so I hope the time flies!
I've never had any kind of surgery before and the only other time I have been sedated was a few weeks ago for my EGD. So I really don't know what to expect or how my body will respond.

    My standard restaurant protocol:
    1. Order water--even if you're not going to drink it. It just keeps them from asking you over and over if you want a beverage.
    2. When ordering, smile pleasantly at the waitperson and say, "I'd like the appetizer cup of French onion Soup for my entree', please." If they say, "Will that be all?" or the less polite, "Is that all you want?", I say, again, with a pleasant smile, "Yep, that will do it!", hand them my menu, and turn my attention to my companions.
    3. If a waitperson comes by and asks if there's something wrong with my soup, I just smile and say, "No, it's delicious! I'm just full," and leave it at that. I've noticed that since we end up going to the same places fairly routinely, the waitstaff get to know that I'm going to order one of a few things and that I will ALWAYS need a go-box.

I didn't waste them. I saved all 5 bags/cans in this 1 zip lock bag. Funny' date=' it doesn't look like 6500 calories could fit in there. I wonder if I could get 6500 calories of cheesecake in that bag.

Gustavo- I have tried Pop chips. I actually eat them quite a bit. I am 9 months out from my surgery. The ENTIRE bag is less than 400 calories (not the single serving size, those are 100 calories). I really like them, particularly the Sweet Potato and Salt & Vinegar varieties.
I do eat carbs. I have eaten chips. I have had a cookie here or there. I have cake when it is someone's birthday. I keep track of EVERYTHING that goes in my mouth (even gum, event things with no calories like the pink packet sweetener) though and I make sure I'm not going over my calories for the day. If I'm getting close and I still have dinner to get in I go for a walk or a bike ride. I'm not saying everyone should do it, I'm just sharing my experience. I followed the rules TO THE LETTER until I went below my goal weight. I'm still below my goal weight. We can eat and be happy we just can't make ourselves happy by eating. Ultimately we never could...we never should.

Lastly, my personal favorite, sour cream and onion Pringles. Not 1 can but 2. 6.3 oz cans, 1800 total calories, 108g fat, 180 carbs.

That's about 3 cups of food right there. Not a lot for a pre-sleever to eat. 1 cup of that is 60 carbs and 600 calories!
Next time I'll mix up some bean dip.

"3 week stall" (which really isn't a stall) is almost something we need to expect... but no one tells us about.
Honestly, don't try to break it. It's not really a stall, it's your body trying to adjust. You're seeing what goes in to your body, but you aren't seeing what's happening on the inside. Your body's kind of freaking out right now, trying to survive this famine. Your body doesn't know it's supposed to be eating less, your body just knows how to survive. To it, there's not much food, so it must be starving. Reserve energy "troops" are being mobilized out of bunkers like your liver and into your bloodstream. Your metabolism may have been given the order to lay low and avoid enemy fire. Your body is pulling resources like Fluid away from more well-fed troops and giving it to the ones who aren't doing so hot. All of this fluctuation is behind most things we call "stalls" (it's also behind most unexplainable or quick weight losses/gains).
Your body is doing exactly what it should do. Don't have a knee jerk reaction and try to "fix" something, because there's nothing wrong and nothing to fix. If you try to fix, you're just going to throw things off even more.
After about 5 or 6 weeks of this, then you can start looking at what you're doing and what you night be able to change, but even then you can do everything right and see no results. It's just a fact of being alive.
