Hi All, I was just wondering if anybody had any input on their scars from revision surgery. I still have visible scars from being banded and didn't know if I was going to get new scars for the sleeve revision. Do the doctors try to follow the same scars or do you get new ones? I just don't want my belly marked up more than it was before. I mean my tummy already looks hidious, but I certainly don't want it to looks worse. I know fat is worse than scars, but just wanted some input. :smile1: Anybody? I accidentially posted this in the general forum but maybe someone here can answer?

I had surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work on Monday. I work 12 hours a day and was on my feet most of the day. I was fine. Each of us recover differently, but I went walking everyday to speed up the recovery process....and it worked. If you sit around and "milk" the surgery then you will probably recover slower. Then again, I have major OCD issues, so I can't just sit still......I think that worked to my advantage. It would have drove me crazy sitting at home for weeks recovering

Because if they remove it they wouldn't get any business! I know for a fact that when I spoke to Dr Kelly after my surgery, that he was trying to get his info removed from their website and also get the ramoskelly.com website shut down. All those sites do is refer patients to other doctors. I am 3 weeks post op with Dr Kelly (surgery January 25th) and he was great. In another post someone stated that we all think Dr Kelly is a god, I don't think he's god....but he was good. I base that on the fact that I was comfortable with him, my surgery was successful not only because I survived, but I've had no complications and I'm losing weight. I was not swayed by all the negative bashing between coordinators. All this talk reminds me of my old high school days......it's so immature. Choose a doctor you feel comfortable with, and my choice was Dr Kelly.

I spoke to him today and he is currently trying to get the website shut down or changed because it is misleading to his patients.

I was wondering the same thing. Why is it some people have restriction on liquids and some of us can drink whatever we want. Just seems weird. I know we are all different but isnt our sleeve all similarly shaped? I know I'm still healing as its just day 2 post op but I feel like I've been drinking water & Gatorade all day long, little sips at a time with no feeling of restriction. Does it take a while to start feeling it?

Congrats, I was sleeved on Wednesday. I felt mild discomfort that day but the next day was worse for me. I had to keep forcing myself to walk it off. Today, I felt soooo much better! Hang in there!

Hi all... I just wanted to give you all a little info about cell reception at florence hospital. Yes, they have Wifi and it works pretty well. In my room the reception was mostly roaming with spotty Verizon popping up for a few seconds here and there. I did call the hospital front desk and they connected me a few times But i did find great cell reception in the front patio along the wall were there is a row a chairs. In that area I got 3 whopping bars of Verizon on my cell phone. Yahoo! Hope this helps.

I even had to remind Dr Kelly's assistant Anaid that I have a check and she said don't worry about it know, let's get you all set up in the hospital first. I was at the hospital for hours and after all the pre-op tests before I gave them the check. That made me feel good that it wasn't the first thing they asked for when I got picked up.

The rooms at Florence are large, they include the hospital bed, full size guest bed & some of the rooms have recliners (mine didn't). I've sat on the guest bed and it's really not comfortable in my opinion, but I'm a bit of a bed snob and used to my comfy bed at home. I guess each room will be different. If your lucky and get rooms on the right you will have a nice view ( I wasn't a lucky one). One suggestion is to bring earplugs because it was nice to tune out all the activity in the hospital.

I talked to Dr Kelly and he said that he was able to use the same incision marks as before and that he always tries to do this on everybody. I know it should be the least of my worries, but one day I would really love to wear a 2 piece bikini

Looking for surgery buddies with Dr Kelly on January 25, 2012? I didn't use any of the coordinators to book as I booked directly through Dr Kelly himself. I've spoken to him several times and feel real confident. I had a previously was banded October 2010 with Dr Ortiz, but decided to go with Dr Kelly as I wanted to be in a real hospital instead of the OCC Clinic. I am excited to get this !#&%* band out of me and get on with my life!

Hi all, I had surgery yesterday & It went well but I literally feel like I was run over by a bus! I'm not kidding. This was a sleeve revision so I knew it was going to probably be worse than the band... and I was right. I've been trying to walk as much as I can, but still sore. Not really any pain just exhausted and sore. Skinny girl here I come!

If you go directly with Dr Kelly, you bring a cashiers check. I didn't even need to put down a deposit..... (i dont know if this is common with everbody or not, but its just what i experienced)....But I hear if you go through the coordinators you pay them directly because they make a profit from the booking.

Wow, such drama on some other posts...LOL I'm here just waiting for the rest of the pre-op tests.... Getting excited

I was banded in Oct 2010 by Dr Ortiz and I did it alone. I'm now getting a revision to sleeve and I'm doing it alone. I only live 2 hrs away, so it's probably easier than dealing with flights. My Hubby is the only one who knows about this too so there really wasn't an option for me to bring anyone. Plus, if you bring someone they are just going to stare at you and get bored in the hospital anyways

I'm at Florence/Oasis right now. I just got admitted this morning. It's small & clean and looks a little dated too. No biggie for me. Just laying here waiting for the rest of the pre-op tests. I went with Dr Kelly directly. I've heard that most of the coordinators are slow in responding because they all work for numerous doctors, so if you don't feel like waiting for a response, call him directly. Oops, I forgot to say my BMI is 34

Thanks for replying. I figured maybe they could use the same area, but I didn't know if the scar tissue would make it more difficult. I have surgery tomorrow, so I will ask my doctor when I'm there. So excited to get his band removed I won't be able to sleep tonight!

I'm not using the same surgeon for my sleeve revision. I'm like you, sort of angry at my band doctor....felt like I was a little mis-lead. I can't wait to get my band removed!

I emailed several coordinators too and was told they no longer work with Dr Kelly. They never mentioned safety issues. From all the boards I have visited it appears to be business related as with all the bad mouthing between coordinators. I booked directly with Dr Kelly and have no concerns. I've spoken to him on the phone several times. He didn't even require a deposit as he said I could bring him the money on the day of surgery. I have surgery this Wednesday, January 25th. I've been reviewing these boards for a while but never responded until this week looking for surgery buddies. There is so many scandulous posts, so yes....it's hard to believe everything you read. I would much rather refer someone to a surgeon that I already used instead of referring her to someone else based on what you read.
