  1. Just went for my cardiac clearance this morning - I'm 28 years old, I have no issues, ekg is totally normal, I had surgery 3 years ago at almost 30 pounds heavier with no issues, my bp was 109/80, I have been exercising regularly, cardiologist said everything looks fine to him, BUT he wants to do an echocardiogram and stress test, just because of family history. I now have to wait another TWO WEEKS until they could even schedule them. Have my 3rd and final visit with the NUT this afternoon, have lost almost 9% (only had to do 5%) - everything else was in place and I was planning to be able to submit after today. I'm just irked that he said everything looks just fine, but is still making me do more tests. This is now another few weeks that I will have to wait, plus more co-pays to pay. Sorry for the rant... I'm just upset = (
  2. Hi and welcome!!
  3. Hey folks~ Wondering if anyone has any good techniques for getting used to the small frequent sips, eating slower, chewing more thoroughly? I definitely have a hard time with drinks ~ I'm such a gulper! And a fast eater, as well. I'm still pre-surgery, and I want to work on these things beforehand! Anyone have any tips?
  4. I've told my coworkers ~ they'd have to know where I was when I was out if I didn't! I have an office building of only about 35 people, and things get around - but there are really no bad eggs, and one of our coworkers had RNY almost 3 years ago and has done fantastically, so they are all very supportive. I've told my immediate family and friends - I'm not holding the info back, but just letting it come up as it does.
  5. Yup, upper GI and Endoscopy for me as well. If they don't warn you, with the Upper GI~ the contrast liquid can... ahem... color certain lower-GI extrusions... so don't be alarmed =P
  6. Awesome. Just... Awesome. =D
  7. Yay! I know how you feel... I had my psych eval last week, upper gi series this am, cardiac clearance & last NUT appt Thursday. Good luck to you!
  8. Congrats! I will be submitting end of this week
  9. Hi there everyone~ I've been lurking around the forums for a bit, and decided it was probably time to actually introduce myself and get involved = ) I'm 28 years old (just had my birthday 2 weeks ago!) ~ been overweight and up and down my entire life. I stopped to think and I said to myself... I'm almost 30 years old, and I'm so incredibly unhealthy... how is this any way to live? My mother died from a heart attack at the age of 34, and I realized that I'm so close to being right there -- and I absolutely don't want to go the same route! So... here I am = ) This is actually a big week for me all-around: tomorrow I have upper GI x-rays, Thursday morning is my appointment for cardiac clearance, and then that afternoon is my 3rd (and hopefully final!) dieting/weight loss appointment! My insurance requires at least 3 months and 5% weight loss, and as of this morning I'm right at it -- had my Psych eval last week and came out fine, have my medical necessity letter from my PCP -- so just a couple more days and then I should be able to submit for approval! When I first started 3 months seemed like SO far away, but it snuck up on me so darned quickly! With luck, I could be setting a surgery date in 2 weeks! I'm to the point now where I'm starting to get much more nervous about things, but I'm trying to keep my head up. My best friend had a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy done in May, and it's been great to have someone so close to me who's going through WLS as well. I'm so happy for her and how well she's doing, and she's been an incredible support for me -- reminding me that I *can* do it! So many of you on here have such incredible stories -- you are so inspiring! Thank you for sharing, for having answers to a lot of questions that I have, and for all the bits of info that I never would have thought of! ~Shannon
