  1. I WANT MY SURGERY NOW! I'm tired of waiting for test results. I'm ready to begin this journey...
  2. I went to my first dr's visit hoping to get a lap band. My dr suggested the vsg instead, for multiple reasons. After researching and talking to folks (I love this site), I am excited about this and I'm sure I'll be happy I listened to him!
  3. OMGosh! I never knew that! That, I'm sure, is the reason I am where I am today. I'm sure I won't mind eating less food, as long as I'm full. I can't wait to get started.
  4. This site is cheaper, and lets you choose all of your flavors! Wahoo!
  5. How do you get a "sample" pack, rather than buying a whole pack of just one flavor?
  6. Cool! I'm going to have to look into this! Thanks for the info.
  7. I knew I didn't want gastric bypass as well. The whole idea of it frightened me. I know 2 people with Lap Bands, neither one has had complications from it. However, 1 has lost a lot of weight 100+ pounds, and the other hasn't been very successful. My hubby and I have a 10 year old son, and we have been trying for baby #2 for 8 years. We believe that part of the reason we have been so unsuccessful the second time is because of how much weight I have gained since having our son. We got pregnant on the first try with him! Although, the MAIN reason I want to have weight loss surgery is for my health. I have been having problems with my CSF pressure. Which has been causing me to have headaches, non-stop, since March. The doctors think that part of the reason I am having headaches is because of recent weight gain. I have never been very successful at weight loss, and now with headaches holding me back, some days I can't even get out of bed. How am I supposed to get up and exercise like that!?! I am getting all of my testing taken care of and so far everything is looking good for me to go ahead with the surgery. Just waiting on paperwork and a few more lab results now (I HOPE)!
  8. OMG! I love, love, love this! I am so excited for you. That is all I want for myself, a happier, healthier, pain-free lifestyle! Congratulations, and thank you for sharing your surgiversary.
  9. Thank you all for your input. I am going to continue my research just to be sure that I make the right decision for me.
  10. I have been finding the same research. Although, I never even THOUGHT of what the port would look like after loosing weight! That sounds horrible. Thank you for sharing that, I will include that in my research now too.
  11. This is pretty much exactly what my Doctor told me.
  12. I'm so excited to be joining you with my own weight loss journey. I can't wait until I have successes like you. Congratulations to everyone, you are doing great! I am feeling even more motivated to get this done!
  13. Today was my first appointment at the Weight Loss Center. I was completely prepared to discuss everything involved with LapBand surgery, which I did. However, the Dr. suggested that I have a Sleeve Gastrectomy instead. I am seriously considering it, because one of my main goals is that I will be allowed to get pregnant after loosing the weight. He said that a sleeve will still allow the baby to get the nutrition that it needs during pregnancy. Plus, I won't have to go in for fills and adjustments, and I will lose the weight a lot faster. Therefore, I will actually be able to try getting pregnant sooner than if I have the LapBand. The post-surgery diet is exactly the same with either procedure. Any thoughts on Sleeve vs. LapBand?

  15. Thank you so much Lassie. You have several questions listed that I hadn't thought of! No problem djbryan, that's why we're here. We can all learn something from each other.
  16. Thank you all! I'm getting nervous and excited about tomorrow. What kinds of questions should I be asking? I'm afraid that I will forget everything once I get to the Doctor's Office. Eeek!
  17. Hi all! I am new to LapBandTalk. I am 34 years old, I have been married to my wonderful husband for 12 years, and we have a beautiful 10 year old son. I have been an elementary music specialist for 12 years. My first LapBand appointment is scheduled for Monday, July 2nd. I am meeting with the main doctor, a psychologist, and a nutritionist. I am nervous, but I am hopeful as well. I have been having a lot of issues with my CSF pressure since March, and am hoping that if I can lose the excess weight, those problems will be resolved. I am grateful that there is a forum where we can all support one another. I am sure I will be needing support in the future if my LapBand procedure is approved. It will be great to meet all of you.
