    I Made This For Us

Hi Ladies! I thought our group needed our own avatar. So I made this one for us. It won't let me add it, so EileenFrances will have to upload it for the group. If you all like it, that is! Making avatars and siggies is kind of a hobby of mine.
  2. Hi all! My VSG surgery was on July 19th. I am now 45 pounds down and feeling great about it. I joined the anytime fitness near me, so I can work on getting this excess skin toned up. Here are some before and current photos. I look forward to sharing even more photos later!

    45 Pounds Down...loving It!

Good luck. Take it easy. The first 2 months were hard for me. It's a rough road at times (for me, emotionally rather than physically), but I am so thankful I was able to have this surgery done. I am really enjoying me new body and I don't even miss the food. I can't wait to lose even more!

    Rice

My doctor says I can't have "sticky rice", does that include fried rice? When you say "sticky rice", I think of sushi. What do you guys think, or what have your doctors said about rice? P.S. I am 7-8 weeks post-op, and tolerating all other foods I've been eating well.

    July Sleevers

Thin crust won't be as "doughy", I suppose. I've been tempted by pizza in the past, but I only ate the toppings. Just once though, all of the other times I've resisted.

    I'm Exhausted!

It's 11 days post-op for me, and I am tired all of the time. I have to force myself to drink and exercise. I just want to sleep all day. I am still doing good with weight loss (I have lost 16 pounds overall), but I am so lethargic. I don't know what to do about it. I'm not hungry, I'm not thirsty, I just want to sleep. Any suggestions?

    I'm Exhausted!

Getting tired more easily and faster than I'm use to is still continuing to be a problem. But, at least I am up an moving around so much better than I was earlier. I can't wait until I drop over 100 lbs too! I'm so excited for it.

Personal Pms Question For My Ladies! Pre Op

That's what happened to me. I told the nurses and they all were good about getting me the special underwear and plenty of pads. I even leaked onto the hospital pad on top of the bed, because I was laying there for so long, and they cleaned that up right away too. I was embarrassed, but they were all so nice about it and made me feel much better about the whole thing.

    July Sleevers

Finally reached the 20 pounds down goal today! I will be 3 weeks out on Thursday. Super excited about that! Went for my post-op visit yesterday and everything was great. Got the OK to move on to soft foods. Wahoo! Glad to hear you all are losing too. Keep up the good work!

    I'm Exhausted!

I was told no caffeine! Life isn't fair! Maybe take your Protein later in the day since you have been nauseous in the mornings? Just a guess. Good luck.

    I'm Exhausted!

I think this was the problem. Now that I am over 2 weeks out I am feeling sooo much better. I still get worn out quicker than usual, but that's when I am up and doing more activity than I have been. I know I'm still healing from surgery, so I hope that will work itself out in a few more weeks.
  12. Due to the side effect of a medication I began taking for CSF pressure headaches, my tastes in food were already changing before my surgery. For example, carbonated beverages now taste completely gross to me. I can't stand them anymore. It only took a few reminders before people stopped offering them to me. And the one time I FORCED myself to drink a soda (because it was the only caffeine available at the time), everyone laughed at me because I made such a horrible face when drinking it. So, I think my work friends will assume that all of these changes have to do with side effects of that medicine as well. However, I have decided to only tell my close family and a few really good friends about my WLS. I will not lie to others if they hear it through the "grapevine", and will try my best to answer any questions they may have. But, I'm not going to go out of my way to tell anyone at work. I did this for myself and for my family. I want to be healthier and live longer for my husband and 10 year old son. I have never been good about taking compliments, so I'm more worried about the effects of people's comments after I lose the weight. If people tell me how pretty or amazing I look, I'm going to think, "What!?! Are you saying I wasn't pretty or amazing before!?! Just because I was overweight?" I guess this comes from having a negative view of myself or something, I don't know.

    Early Soft Foods

I have the same problem. I want to eat something with a spoon rather than drinking from a 2 ounce cup. Everyone's diet seems to be different. Some people can have yogurt, sf pudding or jello. I'm not supposed to have any of these in my liquid phase. But, the dietitian said that I can have thicker soups as long as they fit through the mesh strainer. I just put some of them in the blender before straining and that seems to help. Then, I can at least "eat" something, rather than "drink" it.
  14. Whatever I drink, I'm supposed to have 8 ounces per hour and have a total of 64 ounces in a day. That number is hard for me to reach. I have to be drinking non-stop each day to reach that number, and I get so sick of liquids towards the end of the day.
  15. I have protein shakes, water, crystal light, soup broth, decaf/unsweet tea or coffee, juice (diluted with water), sugar-free ice pops, and things such as that.

    July Sleevers

My surgery was July 19th. I am 16 pounds down. I am so ready to eat food. I hate being on this liquid stage. Today I had some mashed potatoes mixed with half and half just to be able to eat with a spoon rather than drink from a bottle. I probably shouldn't have done that, but I can't take this liquid crap anymore! I am keeping up with my protein, water intake, and exercise.

    Post Op Morning Blues

Yes. I'm 12 days out and I have the same problem. It sucks. Someone on this forum suggested upping my protein intake to give me more energy. Plus, keeping a regular exercise program. My problem, besides being tired and cruddy, is that I am not hungry or thirsty at all. I'm very unmotivated.

    I'm Exhausted!

Thanks, I will try that again. I just HATE switching from drink to drink. It makes me sick. I started out doing 2 oz of Protein, 2 oz of Water, 2 oz of broth, 2 oz of decaf/unsweet tea (or something) each hour. It was so hard to keep up with that schedule. So I tried switching to 8-12 oz of protein, 8-12 oz of water, 8-12 oz of broth, and 8-12 oz of decaf/unsweet tea every 4-6 hours or so. I guess that was the wrong thing to do. I will try going back to the old schedule and see if that helps me out. Thanks.

    I'm Exhausted!

I drink all of my protein shake first thing in the morning. Usually takes me about an hour to get it all down. Then, I switch to water or decaf unsweet tea/coffee. Later in the day I will usually have a strained soup or broth. So far I have been able to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day (walking on the treadmill). I'm just always tired and wishing I was sleeping instead. I still force myself to do what is needed. I was just wondering if I am going to get out of this funk? I am so sick of being on liquids. Uugh. Thanks for all the advise! I will try to do more.

I'm having the same issues. What's up with all the grumbling!?!

    Almost 2 Weeks Out.

I am 11 days out and have lost 16 pounds. I am still on liquids for another week. I think my weight loss will slow down a bit when I start adding more foods, but I will keep walking to help counter-act that effect. You're doing great so far. Keep it up.

    Moms With Young Children....

My doctor said I can't lift more than 5 pounds for the next 3 weeks. Also, that I can't drive. I'm hoping the driving thing goes along with the taking narcotic pain meds and not the actual surgery. I haven't taken the prescribed pain meds in several days and think I would be fine driving. But, I haven't needed to yet. I only have a 10 year old son, he is extremely self sufficient, even makes his own meals. So, I haven't had to worry about lifting anything.

    One Week Post Op..what R U Eating?

I am on liquids right now (1 week post-op, too)! I'm having a variety consisting of 2 ounces of: carnation instant breakfast mixed with silk whey protein shakes water (flavored and unflavored) chicken, beef, and veggie broth juice (50/50 with water) decaf unsweet tea/coffee sugar-free ice pops To give the broth flavor, I like to cook it on the stove with carrots, celery, onion, and spices. Then I put it through the strainer to get rid of the veggies pieces. It adds a lot of flavor. I wish I had more options too, though.
  25. I like the Sobe Life waters as well. The only thing I've found is you have to pay attention to which ones have sugars in them and which ones don't. They are not all the same you have to check the label. Although you need to get in all of your fluids, you don't want to get in too much sugar either.
