Thanks .... It has been tough, but it has gotten easier day by day... I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a struggle, but it is a battle worth fighting for.... I mean I can cross my legs again!! Yay for the simple things!!! Good luck to you as well!!! You don't have much longer until surgery!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)- Don't Get Discouraged
Hello all my fellow bandsters and future bandsters!! I want to take the time to just give a few encouraging words today! Do not allow a few bad choices over shadow the great choices we are making. If we are recognizing the bad choices we are making, it shows we have come a long way. We are more congnisant of what we do and how we do it. Can we truly say we recognized it before the lapband or the start of our journey? Each day we spend in this lifestyle is a challenge, but we also grow. Don't beat yourself up over a drink of coke, or a slice of bread... Just recognize it and DO NOT make it a habit!! I hope every one has a great day.... Remember today will soon be the past, but we have to ensure our future by planning for tomorrow! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)- Return To Work Was A Complete Failure. :(
Hey Kristin, I did wait until 6 weeks to start lifting over 50lbs. Now after 2-3 weeks I could lift and carry boxes. I had to listen to my body. The port incision was the worst, but I was able to function pretty great after 2 or so weeks. Now what I can say is I have a higher pain tolerance than most, but you know how us nurses are... We are stubborn, but I am thankful because I know when it is bad enough for me to say, nooo you can't do this. The day I returned to work I was already turning patients, and doing small lifting duties of like 5lbs... But I did wait to try heavier things once my incisions scabbed or fell off!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)- Carb/sugar Withdrawls
To me the pre op diet was the toughest! Our bodies are used to us packing it full of calories full of carbs and fat. I wish you good luck to hang in there through the first couple of days as your body is withdrawing from the "normal" routine you had!! I am diabetic and it was especially tough for me, but even with cutting the carbs down to less than 20g per day, my lowest blood sugar was 71. Which isn't to shabby!! Good luck to you!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)- Need A Fill And Encoragement!
My nutritionist had me calculate my BMR... Basic metabolic rate. It was 1600 if I was sedentary, meaning if I eat 1600calories a day with no work out, I would maintain my weight. As we want to lose weight we have to create a deficit... Lower our calories and/or add working out... That is how we lose! I am actually doing a 1200cal/day diet and rarely exceed that. If you google the BMR and equate it online, you will have a better idea of your ranges. Hope that gives you some insight!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)- Do You?
I agree with Mis... My doctor doesn't suggest eating breads or pastas because the believe in the low carb diet. I'm now on a midrange carb diet and still losing weight. I do on occasion have bread (no rice or Pasta yet)... But my weight loss has been gradual and steady... I have to chew chew chew, but I don't see a problem with it as long as it is in moderation!! You have to find what works best for you. Realistically the Atkins was great for my pre-op but I didn't want to set myself up for failure by not having some mid range carbs in my diet, especially since I work out 6 times a week on average. Best of luck to you and your journey!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)- Return To Work Was A Complete Failure. :(
Sorry to hear of your situation. Everyone is different! I had surgery on a thursday and was back at work the following Tuesday. Including the day of surgery, I had only 5 days off!! When I returned to the floor (I'm a nurse), the first two days were tough, but I was back to functioning semi normal minus lifting by day 3 and four back to work! Take time to heal yourself... You are in charge of your health!! I wish you the best of luck!!!!!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)- First Fill!!!
