  1. The weight that you register when you meet the surgeon is the weight that counts. I had the same question and also was under the BMI requirement quickly but don't fret, you are supposed to lose a ton of weight that is what the pre-op is for!
  2. Broth truly only serves to satisfy you when you are tired of sweet options, there is really no nutrition and is empty calories which is why you might have been recommended only shakes I'm assuming? Call in if you are unsure but I don't see why there would be any reason you can't sip on some broth if you want.
  3. Like most of us, I was told 1-2 lbs a week which seems to be where I am at now even though I feel like I am at a plateau. We all want it to happen so quickly but the truth is that it is a process and takes time and we all need to be patient and not compare!
  4. If you have enough will power for a few sips, you can try and see if it upsets you. I allow myself some sips here and there but have not drank a whole beverage since I have been banded. Honestly it gives me hard core burps and upsets my stomach now that I'm not used to it anymore. For sure follow your surgeon's rules though. Someone on this forum posted that drinking pop let them to a slipped band and who knows if that was the culprit or not but I was super freaked out by that. Good luck!
  5. Fantastic!! Congratulations on your hard work!!
  6. Getting that surgery date is a wonderful thing!! Keep up the postivie outlook and the whole process will be easy for you =) Good luck, you got this!
  7. I can take sips of pop (can't call it soda...lol) here and there when I want to freshen my mouth up but I never buy myself any pop anymore. Sorry you had a negative experience, only my surgeon does my fill and first shoots me with anesthetic and then the fill. Keep it up!
  8. The irritability you are feeling is most likely due to the lack of protein and nutrients and NOT because of being on "liquids" so make those beverages count! Make sure you are getting lots of protein for the rest of the day in shakes or powder and don't worry, you will be back on food soon. I know every surgeon/story is different but I find it interesting that your first fill was a 3.6 which seems like an odd number. I have gone twice and have gotten 1cc each time to make two because my surgeon said why rush it and feel ill during the process. Good luck!!
  9. Every one is different, and it takes time! Looks like you are doing wonderful as some patients on this website hardly loose anything throughout the process. Good luck!
  10. I too have stalled for almost 6 weeks now and have looked into carb cycling as well. I also have looked into the 100 day real food challenge. I think any change will rev up the metabolism. Good Luck =)
  11. Everyone get's the jitters beforehand....it's like a marriage where you know it's the right thing to do but the commitment of the road ahead may seem terrifying. I too went back and forth, but always reminding myself that it was better to do it and cross the rough bridges, then to chicken out and just be fat and miserable. I'm not 4.5 months out and lost 50 pounds and my life is already totally different. Do it for yourself! Good Luck =)
  12. Sadly, you have to stick with the shakes to escape the hunger and nausea. Or maybe chicken or vegetable broth will sit better with you. I think it's like 1-2 oz an hour or something to stay satisfied. Don't worry, this too shall pass and once you get on your mushie foods it will seem like a grand banquet!
  13. Aside from the horrible gas and bloating, you should be able to do most of what you usually do, but still take it easy. I had two c-sections so this was a day at the park! Good luck =)

Girl, if I think I know what you are talking about it's whenever you feel better....for me it was about 5 days. Good luck =)
  15. First of all...congrats!! I am someone that has been a yo-yo dieter in the past so I had bins of smaller sizes under my bed. Even so I am treating myself to some cheap buys as I go because making myself feel better helps me stay motivated and look better and more confident.
  16. haha....I'm laughing with you not at you. I feel the same way today, it has to be the heat, I feel like a bloated whale and don't feel like moving a muscle. I decided to not work out today but so I didn't feel so bad about it just ate VERY little and stayed away from carbs and salt.
  17. I have been wondering the same thing! I go to my surgeon on Tues and plan on asking him that very question.
  18. Congrats! I told my kids every step of the way and they were 7 and 5. Kids can handle more than you think and it was comforting to them to know that I was having something done to my belly so that I would be healthier for them. I bet your ten year old will appreciate your honesty with this and be your cheerleader along the way but it's your choice! Good luck!
  19. I am an open book lol EVERYONE that is in my life knows I am on this journey, it helps to keep me motivated by knowing I am inspiring others. As far as the site goes, I use it for general info, to give my two cents needed or not, and to be part of a community of those like me.
  20. Try to relax even though that is easier said than done! I started my journey in April of 2012 and got banded March of 2013 so even though it's killing you consider yourself lucky. I too found out I have severe sleep apnea. You can read my blog if you want to pass the time, I share it all in there =) Good luck!!
  21. For sure....you still have to do ALL the work the band just makes it easier because of the restriction. You can do it!! Good luck and keep up the good work =)
  22. Congrats. I am 4.5 months out and have 1cc in a 10cc band and so far I have not had anything that I couldn't tolerate, I was afraid of rice, lettuce, buns, etc, but so far so good, everything in moderation =) Keep up the good work!
  23. i am four months post and my port hurts when I have been sitting too long, when I have been sleeping on that side, or when I have sex the "old fashioned way" (sorry for the tmi). It just feels sore like it's been stretched or scrunched, either one. Usually I just gently massage the area and then walk a round a bit and it goes right away. Good luck!
  24. Don't be nervous about the fill. You just lie there and they shoot you twice, once with the Novocain and the second time with the fill. Just a pinch like a flu shot. Check out my blog I have an entry about my first fill!
  25. Take a deep breath, you got this! We are all nervous making such a big change, but only good things are to come I promise. I write a weight loss blog if you want to check it out about the ups and downs of it all but so far nothing has made me feel like I made a mistake. Good luck =)
