First, you can't hate yourself thin.
Have a real heart to heart with yourself about why you can't get the eating under control.
Consider therapy. It helps a lot of people, myself included.
Look at the 5:2 eating thread in the vets forum. It's worked for a lot of people.
Make a plan. Get the bad foods out of the house. Buy the heathy foods you like and put them in portion controlled packages so they are grab and go.
Eat solid Protein first, cut the carbs and drink your Water.
Buy yourself a present, you deserve it!
Everyone's journey is different. Don't compare yourself to others.

I have had some sugar cravings as well but normally I can just eat some fruit and that satisfies the sweet-craving pretty well. I have craved chocolate and haven't really figured out a good fix for that. I had SF fudgecicles when I was on the liquid portion and I thought they were nasty so that's not an option...what I still struggle with missing is soda! I swear they put a secret ingredient in it that makes you addicted to it! I guess I'll get over that one though since I was told carbonated beverages are a no-no forever! . All of the sacrifices are worth it and I will just find healthier choices that shut my brain up!

Thanks for this thread. I too need to be reminded of what to do to get back on track and away from sugar. I need to remember why I had surgery on the first place.

I'm still fighting the sugar battle. I wish I would have never let myself slide so many days in a row and get my body re-addicted to it! My actions have caused an almost 2-month stall so that's been very discouraging and I totally let myself down. I didn't have any cravings really before I let sugar creep back in my diet...evil EVIL sugar. I know this journey isn't meant to be an easy fix and this goes to show we still have to make good choices and use our sleeve as a tool to help us lose the weight.

I love the sugar free Fudgesicles and the sugar free Jello pudding in the cup. I also bake high Fiber sugar free Cookies and make Protein, sugar free ice cream. You won't miss the sugar. Actually, eating full sugar things make me feel sluggish and leave a sickening taste in my mouth.

O,and I get off track all the time.We go away for weekends and stay in hotels or with friends all the time.I cannot ever not eat carbs when we are away.Still dont eat any sugar though.Would rather eat pizza than sugar as sugar is like a black hole,it triggers eating, mindless never ending eating.
But then I reset quickly when I am back.
Remember, you are learning what is working for you.Keep searching for your normal.Foods you can enjoy that is good for you.Try again!

When I have to "reset" I do 3 days of Protein only.Nothing else.Chcken, tuna, white fish, salmon and steak.Breakfast Snacks dinner.
First day is hard.By the third day I am ok and then I start adding healthy bits and bops of veggies, string cheese ect until I have a good menu going again.

I licked Doritos during my 2nd week post op but didn't chew them. I needed the taste of something that wasn't a Protein shake.
But I just read a book called "The First Twenty Minutes". In it, they talk about a study where 3 groups of test subjects rode exercise bikes for a while. One group was allowed to swish flavored Water but could not swallow. The flavored water had zero calories. One group swished unflavored plain Water. The last group swished a sports drink containing dextrose and fructose...in other words, sugar, so it had calories. None of the riders swallowed anything. But the group that swished the sports drink with sugar rode farther with less effort. In other words, they were somehow ingesting some of the fuel (sugar) from the drink even though they didn't swallow. So be aware that "some" of what you're chewing is not being spit out, especially sugar.

You shouldnt struggle too much if you get the sf popcicles made with splenda,2 carbs each,10 cals.I have 3 of those every night as my treat.
And start now.Why wait for tomorrow? What we eat is a momentary choice, just to be made for this meal or this snack, over and over. You dont have to worry about the next one now.Stock up with healthy things.Dont make impulsive choices though.take 10 minutes to think it through and say NO to yourself when you need to. do that like we have to say no to other people and our kids sometimes.
Dont feel deprived. When we realize it is our own choice,we dont seem to mind it so much.90 persent being very good is what you aim for and not succeeding all the time just gives us the chance to make a better choice next time.Dont do the all or nothing thinking thing and knock yourself too hard for the failures that are human, that makes us fall off the wagon as we think we cant fix this with ease.
And a little treat every now and then have never made anyone fat.Its also normal.
I think at about 5 months out most of us have to learn the lessons you are learning now and its a good thing too.It prepare us for a controlled future as normal people.
Good luck with climbing back on the wagon.

Start tomorrow as a new day. There's probably a sugar free version of your favorite Snacks. Buy some for those weak moments and don't let a bad day stretch into a bad week or bad month.

sugar free popsicles actually taste a little better, IMO. That's any easy fix to this easy problem.
I have a fat girl picture of me on the fridge. It's a nice reminder of how far I've come when the idiot cycles start (been there, done that).

I battle making the right decisions every day. I let myself get too hungry and then end up reaching for anything, like I did today. One bite of something too sweet turns my stomach, but I do fight the battle with carbs!!! Someone posted a pic a few days ago of an entire family size bag of Doritos crushed and fit in this little measuring cup. Unbelievable. It's been 3 months for me and I've lost 50 lbs, but have a long way to go. Hang in there. Think about everything you've sacrificed to be healthy!!! Don't beat yourself up, just get back on the wagon!

The best thing is to remember tomorrow is a new day. It happens but you can put yourself right back on track. Start drinking more water/ crystal light etc and try and keep yourself full. Try try again.
Also I love sugar free popsicles, eat them a lot
You will start losing again. I'm in a stall right now too and boy does it suck. It takes all the fun out of this weight loss journey but it will start dropping again. Slow and steady wins the race

I tried MANY kinds of shakes and finally found one I like...it's called Chike. http://www.chikenutrition.com/. I understand your frustration with feeling like it's coming off slow--I'm in the same boat. Tomorrow is my 5 month mark as well and I have been stalled for the past 5 weeks. I have definitely let sugar and other bad things creep back into my diet...not on purpose of course but--well, old habits are really tough to break.
On a positive note, our weight is going in the right direction. Keep on truckin' and doing your best and good things are bound to happen.

Don't feel bad about the stall your doing better than me, I had surgery 5/3 and have lost 45 lbs. i lost 20 lbs before surgery , I have not had any stalls really, just losing slowly but steadily. I know I'm doing all the right things , low carb, low calorie , exercise about 5x a week, I guess I'm just made that way, but as long as that scale keeps going down I'm happy and I try real hard nor to compare myself to others, for example someone that was sleeved after me and has lost more weight than me lol!!!

When you feel like this Bean. Post some before and after pics. You can see the difference and get a lot of support in the process. Also...are you tracking your measurements? Even if the scale isn't moving....doesn't mean your body isn't still changing. Hugs. You will get there.

    I weigh every day.
    Why?
Its like a small victory to start the day- its like an "atta girl" every single morning... like a daily inspiration to keep going. Its the reminder that I CAN DO ANYTHING if I have the tools and put my mind to it. Who wouldnt want that?
I have a post-it above my scale of my heaviest weight and I look at that darn number every day before I step on the scale and after and am so proud of how far I have come.
Whatever works for you- work it. Your sleeve & journey is YOURS.
    Keep on keepin on- losers!
