  1. Well I see your picture on the side! Is that what you mean?
  2. I am dying to start the pureed stage!! I am not starting it until I get back home to the Yukon- so another 4 days. That will have me on the full liquid diet for 10 days. Uggg.... I am sick of it already! Pureed moose meat here I come!
  3. I had been having a really tough time since my surgery (Oct 19th) with nausea, grogginess, and dizziness. At my check up yesterday, the surgeon suggested getting off of the pain killer I had been prescribed (roxacet) and replace it with chewable tylenol. Wow! I feel like a new woman! The side effects from the narcotics were worse than the actual pain. So glad we did that change I start flying back home to the Yukon tomorrow. It has been a good 10 days with my out of country surgery experience here in Washington. I am looking forward to being back home with my children and the snow that is already on the ground. I am ready to hibernate for winter. I was already down 10lbs in the five days post surgery. Not too shabby!
  4. Hello All, I had my sleeve just last week on Wednesday (October 19th). Yesterday and today I have found that I have had a lot of pain right in my sternum. I am following my liquid diet requirements to a T, taking small sips and ensuring I don't take in too much at once. Is this pain just the stomach healing? I am still taking pain medication a few times a day for it, but I am still quite uncomfortable. Any advice?
  5. We were sleeved on the same day and I am having the same problem. I am getting out walking quite a bit and that has been the best thing to help me! I also have to change positions a lot if I am sitting. Just keep on moving!
  6. Glad you are feeling so well! I am still having a hard time believing that I went through with it!!
  7. I had a poor reaction to the anesthesia as well! It was harsh having the dry heaves for hours after the surgery. I find I am full of gas as well at 3 days post op. I am trying to walk quite a bit and that helps move the gas out.
  8. I am three days post-op and doing very well! Today is my second day of full liquids. So far I have been able to tolerate some yogurt and chocolate Protein drink made with milk. I am hoping to try some creamy Soup later today. I am in love with chicken broth; I am sure it is just the salt content that is making it taste so darn great! I am on a liquid Vitamin and oh man it is disgusting! But I choke it down followed by a bit of apple juice. What is everyone else sipping on?
  9. I am walking a bit too and that really helps with the gas. I am finding it hard to drink too. A sip just a bit too big gives me intense sternum pain!
  10. I am loving the broth! ahahah Today (3 days post op) I had a bit of yogurt. It took me 1 hour to get down 125mls of it. This is hard work!
  11. Hi! Yes, I had the surgery at the Edmonds clinic. They were fantastic! I had the Emend and another anti-nausea pill before the surgery, but it didn't quite cut it. I have had surgery before (gallbladder) and the reaction then was even worse. The surgeon said very few people have the type of reaction I had. Good luck on your surgery day!!
  12. I feel the same on the pain meds- groggy for sure! I am going to be here until Wednesday the 26th and then we start the long trip home.
  13. Wow! Sounds like you are doing great!
  14. Oh yes. That back pain has been killer!! So glad I am getting over that as well.
  15. Hello Everyone! I had my surgery on Wednesday morning around 9:30am. The surgery was text book and only took 1/2 an hour to complete. However, I had quite the adverse reaction to coming out of the anesthesia. I was very nauseous afterwards and I couldn't not shake being groggy. I had a heck of a lot of pain in my sternum and back. The clinic I was at here in Washington state does it as day surgery, but I ended up having to stay the night since I couldn't keep anything down; I was on iv fluids all night and lots of pain medication. I had a lot of anti-nausea drugs prior to surgery, so it could have been a heck of a lot worse without them. I was able to come back to the hotel early this morning. I am sleeping a lot and just drinking Water and apple juice. I am no longer nauseous but I still get that pain in my sternum when I take too big of a sip of liquid. I had six incision spots and they are itchy as hell! My stomach muscles are pretty painful and walking around isn't easy. I am hoping that tomorrow I will be able to walk a bit more. Tomorrow I can also start in on full liquids if I feel like it. I find though that I am sleeping so much that I am coming nowhere near the amount of liquids I should be drinking. It is nearly 4 in the afternoon and I am only up to about 16oz. I think I need to stay awake for a while! The surgeon took photos of the surgery- what lovely looking guts! heheheh I hope everyone out there is either recovering well or preparing well. Good luck everyone!
  16. Wahooo!!! Surgery tomorrow! I have butterflies in my stomach; good thing it is getting cut out tomorrow.
  17. Yippeeee!!! I hope everything went great for you today!
  18. Thanks for sharing! Great to hear experiences from those who have gone through it!
  19. Oh my! What a bunch of complications. I hope you continue healing!
  20. Glad you are feeling so well after surgery!
  21. How exciting!!! I cannot wait to hear how it all goes. I am on the 19th. Good luck!
  22. Whew! After three long days of traveling I have finally made it here! I am getting giddy now about the surgery. Good luck everyone in October!!!
  23. We are on our way!! Today we start our travels from our remote community in the Yukon. Here is the travel plan for the next few days (it is nuts): -today drive 400km to Whitehorse -tomorrow fly to Vancouver and then Edmonton where we are dropping the kids off with the grandparents -Sunday fly back to Vancouver and then to Seattle Oh my! We will get there eventually. Thankfully, it looks like the airline we are taking will no longer be striking- so my head will not be exploding from the stress of that anymore. Monday I have a few pre-op appointments and then surgery on Wednesday. We will be in a hotel outside of Seattle for 10 days. Good thing I booked up a nice suite with internet! Hopefully I have everything packed! Away we go!
  24. I do the same! Bedtime has been 9 or 9:30 just so I won't eat! I also now don't eat Breakfast until 9am and lunch then at 1pm. If I eat too early I am starved by lunch time.
  25. Thank you for the very idiot proof instructions! Much appreciated.
