  1. My mom made pizza during my 1wk postop... I peeled everything off & licked the pizza sauce... lol sounds weird I know, now I'm on solids & don't need to "lick" anything
  2. I was banded 5/31... I still wake up in the morning nauseous, I have found it because I have an empty stomach. Are you on liquids still or mushies? Try getting something in your stomach. Depending what pain meds you were on, that could cause nausea. Good luck with your first day back to work, I went back on day 6 & I felt awful at the end of the day, try children's tylenol for pain if you can take it.
  3. My Dr does between 4-6 after surgery
  4. I LOVE vitamin water zero, especially the lemonade flavor. Becareful with Powerade Zero, I drank a bottle then realized it has 250mg of sodium!!
  5. I experienced my first restaurant outing last night, my all time favorite, Mexican food. I was nervous they wouldn't have anything halfway healthy but it went well. Had a taco salad with shredded chicken - minus the tortilla shell & cheese dip. I even held off on the basket of free tortilla chips! I made sure it took over 45min to eat, & nothing got stuck. It was hard not drinking my water during the meal, but had to have a few sips after i was done due to me accidently eating a pepper lol. I'm so proud of myself I thought it would be hard at first to resist the temptations on the menu (the "regular" meal I used to get) but I guess I do have the will power!
  6. My incision where the band was put through is sorta red, doesn't hurt or anything, just when I bend the wrong way or sit for too long and the glue has almost fallen off. I went to my Dr for my postop visit & he didn't seem to concerned... I'm so scared of it being infected, I was banded 5/31 ... so my question is, was anyone banded around my band date have redness just at their incision??
  7. There really should be a spouse/significant other support groups. The once a month group meeting here allows guests, but it's just not the same. The whole marriage topic came up in my pre lapband seminar... the guest speaker said that the lapband will not fix martial/relationship problems... and will not prevent divorce/seperation, etc & to not get the band done to "save" a marriage because in the end, the problems besides weight issues, will still be there. I told my boyfriend the same thing you told your wife, I'm going to lose weight, not leave a relationship. I think there really should be support groups, not only are we going through this total life change, but our significant others are as well. Last night I ate a hamburger at The Temptations concert down here, no bun, took over 45min to eat, by the time I was done, the Burger had gotten cold & the cheese was hardening - today I had a hot dog at work (healthiest thing at the gas station I work at) I only ate half & threw the rest away
  8. I coughed after surgery for the first few days... hurt the incisions like heck. Make sure you are doing your airmeter blower thing (don't know the name lol) and even just walking around the house will help a lot.
  9. I'm attending a concert tonight (The Temptations yay!) And I know how fatty concert food is so I ate tuna fish & a pudding cup. Went out & bought cod fish to cook tomorrow. I'm not a big fish person, but I know ill get tired of chicken. Anyone have some fabulous recipes to share for chicken.... I'm going to miss my spaghetti
  10. I spoke to my Dr about my shakes today, he didn't seem concerned & said its possible that my body is trying to get used to fewer calories & less sugar. I'm not diabetic, so that's not the case. He said if it gets worse to see my pcp.
  11. Down 20lb 2wks (today) postop & got moved to regular food today! First fill in 2wks
  12. Hopefully tomorrow I can get put on real food, I made some spaghetti (minus the pasta) & put fat free sour cream in it to make it mushier, it tasted fantastic & went down with no problem. I'm scared of "stretching" my pouch when I start eating solids again. I am trying to figure out this whole portion control stuff. Went to a cookout this past weekend & put mashed potatoes on my plate like I would pre lapband & realized I wouldn't be able to eat all of it! lol. I had forgotten all about my new portion sizes. Its defiantly going to take some getting used to. Have they told you yet what your calorie intake should be? I can't seem to get my daily Protein in every day, how do you do it? I miss N.Va but its not somewhere I'd move back too, great to visit, but that's about it. I lived near Rt 50 & Annandale Rd for about 10yrs & then off of Columbia Pike not far from Barcroft area while in HS. The living expenses are outrageous & so many gang problems. what does your family think of your decision to get the band?
  13. I was banded 5/31, yesterday my boyfriend noticed while holding my hand that I was shaking, I didn't notice til he mentioned it, then this morning I was shaking so bad I could barely hold my papers, my boss even noticed it without even touching me. Its not only my hands but I feel it in my arms too. Its kind of like a shivery shake. I'm not cold, its 82* here .... Anyone else expeirence this?
  14. I live in Powhatan! I was banded 5/31 ... hows it going for you so far? Who was your surgeon?
  15. I clearly see every Dr is different... but why do some Dr's say no bread, but I've heard some ppl on this forum eat bread... how does it not get stuck?? Also, my Dr said no straws for drinks... anyone know why?
