Started Pre-Op Diet And Feel Crappy
I am just 1 day before you on the 13th. I am not hungry and have lost 4 pounds already. Its not even hard doing without the carbs. I just wish I could take Advil because Tylenol is just not doing it for me. I will be glad when this feeling goes away.

Started Pre-Op Diet And Feel Crappy
So I started my pre-op diet on Monday. Felt fine all day. Then I woke up Tuesday morning with a horrible headache and have had it ever since. I am so tired and just feel yucky. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it just my body adjusting to no sugar and no carbs? Any advice is greatly appreciated. I am not hungry at all, but just feel bad.

Pre-Op Yesterday/dr. Wilkenfeld
Had my pre-op appointment yesterday with Dr. Richard WilkenfeldConroe. Got my blood work and EKG done. For anyone wondering about his office and staff, his wife Tina was absolutely wonderful. She went over everything. She is very knowledgeable about the lapband procedure. I highly recommend him. Now to start my pre-op diet on Monday. He also requires 48 hours of nothing but liquids before surgery. I am so ready for August 13th!

Anyone Have Cigna And Using True Resultshouston?
I have Cigna and having hiatal hernia repair along with my lapband surgery. Cigna is coving the repair part but I'm paying the rest. I can't seem to find the surgery center listed on my insurance. I have met my in network deductible but not the out of network one. And it's 10K. Anyone else come across the same problem and have to have it done at a hospital instead? Did it change your out of pocket cost?

Alternative To Pain Meds With Hydrocodone
Have any of you ever used Ultracet? It is a tramadol/acetaminophen combo. I took darvocet when I had my gall bladder surgery 10 years ago. But I know we can't get that anymore.

Alternative To Pain Meds With Hydrocodone
I am scheduled to be banded on August 13th. I can't take Vicodin or anything with hydrocodone. You see I had to take Narco's for 5 months after shoulder surgery and went through some serious withdrawals even after weaning off of them slowly. My PCP advised me to not take them again. Does anyone know of an alternative pain medicine? I am thinking about seeing my PCP again before surgery to see if it would be okay to take it just for a few days but I probably already know the answer.

Surgery Scheduled!
I've decided I don't care what other people think too. Just last weekend someone tells me people have died from lapband. So me being me looked up the articles and had her read them. Then yesterday my mother asked why was I doing it and is it what I really wanted to do. This was after I heard her tell someone on the phone what I weigh and how she didn't know I was that fat. My husband and kids ( all 7 of them support me). I have spent the last 30 years worrying about my family and their needs. The youngest is 17 now it's time to worry about me. I want to be around to see my 4 grandchildren grow up. I have heard comments about how the money could be spent on other things since I am self pay. Well my husband is more than willing to pay. He is tired of seeing me depressed, tired, and sick due to being overweight. I'm not looking forward to the pain but like anything worth it there will be some pain to go through. Do I have worries about surgery? Yes I do but as many surgeries I have had that's normal. The putting in of the IV scares me more than the surgery lol

Egd And I Have Hiatal Hernia!
I am with you on this one. True Results is great and they help the patients any way they can. As soon as my insurance denied me, my patient advocate let me know about checking for the hernia. I was surprised I had one. Very glad they had me do the EGD.

Egd And I Have Hiatal Hernia!
- Surgery Scheduled!
EGD this morning, pre-op on July 29th, and surgery on August 13th! I cannot wait!- Egd And I Have Hiatal Hernia!
My EGD is over and I have a hiatal hernia. So now my insurance has to cover the hiatal hernia repair. I will end up paying 5500 for my lapband with imbricatioon. Now to call for my pre-op.- Egd This Morning
Were you sedated and completely out during the procedure? I have a fear of being awake and having something down my throat.- Egd This Morning
I am waiting to have my EGD done here at True Results Houston. I'm so nervous. Any advice?- Realized How Bad I Need To Lose Weight
I can't wait to get my EGD done next Tuesday so I can get my surgery scheduled. Who would have thought I would be so excited even knowing the pain at first. But I'm looking at the end result and that's what excites me. Thanks for all the support!!- Realized How Bad I Need To Lose Weight
Yesterday I went to the mall with my daughter. After 3 hours there my knees hurt, my hips hurt, my back hurt. That just reinforced my decision to have the lapband surgery with plication. I go for my EGD on July 3rd. Hoping to get banded by the end of July.- Egd
That is good to know. I hate the thought of being even partially awake for the EGD. I'm a big worry wart too. But if I want to try and get insurance to pay I have to have it done. Thanks for the input! Don't know what I would do without this forum.- Egd
I am scheduled for my EGD on July 3rd. Anyone had this done and what's it like? My insurance won't cover my surgery so they are checking for a hiatal hernia. That way if I do have one it will be covered and I will have little out of pocket costs.- Am I Crazy For Wanting Lap Band Surgery?
Thanks for all the positive thoughts! I think I'll just tell everyone that doesn't like my decision they can kiss it. Besides the money I save on meds and junk food can surely be saved for things like a vacation. Now I can't wait to attend my seminar on Saturday! This forum is the best for support!- Am I Crazy For Wanting Lap Band Surgery?
For all of you who have had lapband, did you ever get told you were crazy for thinking about it? I have my seminar this Saturday. You wouldnt believe the number of people who have told me to diet and exercise or that I'm just too lazy to do it the right way. I have tried all the diets: WW, Jenny Craig, HCG, diet pills, Nutrisystem, etc. I have lost 20 lbs or so and gained it back and then some. I am 5'0 and weigh 198. I have High blood pressure, high cholesterol and am pre-diabetic. I am so tired of losing it then gaining it back. My husband fully supports me in what I want but I am so tired of the negative comments from everyone else. I don't want to be skinny like I was before my son was born 26 years ago. I just want to be healthy and have a life and not stand on the sidelines when my grandkids want me to play because I get so out of breath. Any thoughts?- Gwh- Cigna
Thanks. I will call them. I dont know if they told the patient coordinator that price because they assumed the doctor was out of network. I'm going through true results and one of their doctors is in network and the other two are not. Thanks for the link!- Gwh- Cigna
Anyone have Cigna and had them pay for the lap and surgery? My policy says weight loss is not covered for gastric bypass surgery. But I had my insurance verified by the patient coordinator and she was told its covered if I meet their criteria. I was also told since I have a high deductible (which has been net) that I might have to pay fit the lap and device itself. She said that runs about $5000.00. But since my deductible is met shouldnt insurance cover the device? I really can't afford the 5000.00 since I paid for shoulder surgery 4 months ago in full. Anyone had anything like this with insurance. I go for my seminar next Saturday then I get my free consultation. Just hate to go and then get told I needthatmuch money. - Surgery Scheduled!
