  1. today has been one day amongst TOO many that was one of the worst.. not sure if it makes sense but its how i feel.. for too long ive been sad and border line depressed about my weight and ttc for over 4 years now.. i have pcos and really need to get my weight under 200 pounds (im 270 pounds currently).. and fast. ive always been a thick girl but at this point i feel huge. ive tried low carb, which is pcos friendly but havent gotten the results.. im looking to hear from people who have had the lap band and if the recommend it or advise against it and etc.. i feel it is extreme but my last resort honestly.. i feel helpless and cornered without any other options.. i hope someone can shed some light on it for me.. i live in lehigh valley pa so if anyone can suggest a dr i would greatly appreciate it.. thanks guys :0)

    No Will Power.. Help :0/

hey.. so I'm going for my free consultation night on the 30.. but I know I have a problem with food and want to try to get on the right track.. does anyone know of any really good self help, or will power books that might help guide me or give me some confidence? thanks!
  3. i scheduled my first information seminar, which is required before moving onto the actual consultation with the doctor.. so i have mixed emotions, im super excited but also very nervous. i chose dr harrison from lehigh valley hospital in allentown pa. i am hoping to get more information on how everything works and if they think ill be a good candidate for the procedure. my husband isnt really on board with me doing this, he feels i shoild keep attempting to lose it naturally, which is a bit frustrating, but over all i honestly dont think i care if he is on board or not.. im not sure if thats a good or bad thing. when i told him about the free info night he wasnt thrilled, and said he thinks i shouldnt do it.. has anyone else not had the full support from their spouse or friends? i know he wants me to be healthy and it isnt some fetish to have me big or anything.. i think he is genuinely worried about the procedure and the efffect on me negatively, if any, and the skin. i showed him some images and videos on youtube of people showing all their excess skin. i feel like im not flabby, im big but no that big, my skin has remained pretty tight, except for a little pouch im starting to get in my lower tummy.. i know hes scared what i might look like if my skin doesnt tighten back up.. to be honest i am too..

All Choked Up And Out Of Ideas..

thanks everyone! I haven't really gotten any pos feedback from my specialist. then again nothing negative either, just " if you want to do it just let us know" well see how my consultation night goes. I have this feeling that I will be a much happier person by doing this.
  5. thanks everyone :0) @ mystie- I go for my consultation night at lvh tues the 26 so I'm excited to be moving forward to get my questions answered and that would be cool to run into ya! I'll let ya know how everything goes and if I get scheduled! ;0)
  6. thanks everyone.. I have spoken to him and tried to get some reasoning behind how he feels. I'm hoping moving forward he can be more supportive
  7. thanks guys, this site has truly been a blessing for me. I am seriously considering your advice to take him along. I didn't ask bc I felt well if he doesn't want me doing it why would he come along, which I feel like an idiot now for thinking lol. I can see the insecure issue bc even as a bigger girl he is super attracted to me and gets a little jealous sometimes haha. hopefully he'll still feel that way if I were thinner. as for the skin I'm hoping a tummy tuck wil not be needed :0/ any suggestions to help reduce the risk of skin, like working out while loosing weight or anything? again thank u guys so very much <3
  8. your 100% right, i hope he doesnt think iim taking "the easy way out" bc honestly im scared shitless lol ive tried for so long to manage my weight, bc getting it off has never been an issue, it was keeping it off.. im just tired ya know.
  9. thanks sweetie :0) i actually broke down and did that bc i really couldnt find anything specific.. i am scheduled for the free info night next week and am pretty excited and nervous.. finally taking some steps!
  10. thanks! i actually looked into him and dr harrison.. i have a free information night scheduled next week im very excited about.

All Choked Up And Out Of Ideas..

@icestorm, thanks., yes it is horrible. so many fine lines you cant cross ugh. i have a reg obgyn who was treating me for about 2 years before testing my blood.. now i see an infertility specialist for the last 2 years or so. hes been pretty good. helped me to get rid of a lot of cysts on my ovaries, and had me on metformin which made me so sick i requested to be off of it. he put me on glumetza which is kind of like metformin except less strong, i still get sick if i try to up my dose :0( the mood swings and feeling of depression has been very bad lately... he performed a dnc back in late march and told me it could happen naturally but they still want to test my husbands sperm before continuing any type of therapy. of course ins does not cover it so were trying to save the $ for that.. i do not have any of the symptms of fibroids that u speak of, plus ive had an US so many times ive lost count, and a dnc and nothing came up there either.. i scheduled a free consult with a surgeon to hear my options, plus im going to call my specialist today about getting back on metformin.. ive been hearing so many good things about it i feel like i should try it again.
  13. so happy to hear everything went well for ya! how was it, any pain afterwards? wishing you the best for the future

All Choked Up And Out Of Ideas..

thanks guys, @adorkbl- sorry i thought your name was something else, my bad lmao.. i have heard that alot that metformin really helps with the carb cravings, which is my BIGGEST issue.. i really think im going to call my dr asap and ask him if he thinks i can try it again.. @icestorm, i do have pcos so my cycles were not regular for a very long time, i worked with my reg obgyn for almost 2 years and she helped me get them back on schedule, then when i realized i wasnt getting pregnant i switched to a infertility specialist.. he diagnosed me with pcos. i had a lot of cysts on my ovaries, but the glumetza i take has vanished almost all of them, i also had a dnc in late march to help as well.. i was a little upset when i went in after the dnc and he advised me to just keep taking the meds, ugghh. i seriously feel that with more weightloss this can finally happen for me.. plus im so uncomfortable at this size the weight needs to go asap. one thing that does have me concerned with lap band isnt my sticking with the needed diet plans or anything im totally ready for the help to lose the weight, its the extra skin i may get. for the weight i am (270), im not very saggy, although recently i have developed a bloaded looking tummy :0( which im sure is the carbs.. i just worry about having the extra skin.. its like if i go through everything and finally get to a decent weight i dont want to feel worse about my body bc of the skin ya know.. do any of you have that problem or had it removed or anything?

All Choked Up And Out Of Ideas..

@chalk full nutty goodness, i thank you for your honesty, even if it wasnt the easiest ride for you, i appreciate hearing both negative and positive.. not everything is perfect :0) but i will be contacting my gyno and asking for metformin again.. i will try that for few months before deciding on lap band.. i get the worst cravings, and i just cant not give into them. :0(

All Choked Up And Out Of Ideas..

@chalk full nutty goodness, thanks ;0) i was on metformin briefly, but was taken off for bad side effects.. i know they are common though but my dr felt i was feeling too sick, so he put me on Glumetza, which is like metformin but not as harsh on your system.. i have tried watching my carbs and can stay strong for a few day/weeks, but eventually fall right back into the same patterns.. ive had a ton of people tell me to stick with metformin bc it WILL help.. mayb i need to discuss it with my doctor again and see what he says..

    You Don't Need Surgery...

i have pcos too and its horrible :0( i have been seriously thinking about getting banded but still weighing my options, no pun intended lmao.. how has it helped with your symptoms, if you dont mind me asking.. im still trying to decide if its right for me.. i called my gyno and asked him his opinnion, and i really didnt get one.. he just told me that i would have to wait another 18 months or so to try and get pregnant.. ive heard other people say within a few months, bc of the rapid drop in weight, they conceived faster then that..
  20. hey guys im from the lehigh valley and am looking how to get started.. only thing i can find on lap band surgery in lehigh valley is at the lvh, but it doesnt really give me doctors or phone numbers..can anyone give me a number pretty please? also to go to a consultation with these doctors do i need a referral from my regular doctor.. thanks everyone!
  21. Hello, everyone, my name is christina. I was very excited to find this site, I feel a little lost, and am hoping to make some new friends that can maybe guide me through some of the questions I have. My husband and I have been together for 10 years, married 5 of them. We have been ttc for about 4 years now.. with no luck ;0( I have pcos and am taking glumetza for it (form of metformin but not as strong). I had a DNC in late march with hopes that I would conceive naturally.. it is very important for me to conceive as natural as I can.. although at this point it is becoming emotionally draining. I have tried loosing weight for a while, sticking with little to no carbs seems to help but my cravings are out of control. I really try my best but between the constant pressure and heartache of trying to get pregnant im just drained honestly.. I am really considering going for the lap band surgery. My doctor- not my obgyn specialist- said that he doesnt recommend it esp since im trying to have a baby fairly soon. Im still waiting to hear back from my specialist on the matter.. I was hoping some of you ladies can shed some light on this for me? Is anyone else going through this, or has gone through it, and been successful? do you feel its not a great idea? I currently weigh 270, i want to at least loose 50 pounds before having a baby.. thank you so much and i really hope to hear from everyone :0)

Ttc With Pcos- Looking Into Lap Band.. Help :0(

hey everyone, thanks for your advice.. im not looking into the band to increase my fertility, but rather help manage my weight which will help my pcos symptoms. i called my obgyn specialist and they really didnt encourage me to do it, but also didnt discourage me either., they just said, let us know what you decide, but if you do it it will be about 1 year before its safe to become pregnant." ive already waited 4 years so at least this way ill be at a more healthy weight i guess.. ive just tried so many different things i feel lost, like nothing i do is going to get the weight off and this is my last resort i guess.. does anyone have pcos and got the band and this helped with the symptoms? @Tahneesamson- you said you know of a liquid metformin?? does it have the same effects as the pill form? i was taking the pill but it was making me so sick i couldnt stand it :0(

Ttc With Pcos- Looking Into Lap Band.. Help :0(

thank you icestorm, i am obese and would like to loose close to 80-100 all together, but i know id love to loose at least 50 before getting pregnant. the medicine i am taking is glumetza, its is like metformin but with less side effects of the nasuea or diarhea.. i was on metformin before and was sick as a dog. ive heard if you stick it out that the effects slowly subside, but i couldnt stand to be on it so my specialist prescribed glumetza for me. i still get the side effects but not as severe. as far as weight loss and pcos symptoms, they most definitely go hand in hand.. which is another reason im so determined to get some weight off. both my dr and specialist say i dont need to lose weight before conceiving, but im already uncomfortable and want to lose it before i get pregnant.. also its unhealthy.
