    Dr Kuri

He banded me 7 years ago. I really liked him and his staff was great even though they didn't really speak english. I was in his old hospital that was really small. I felt like I was being rolled into a dungeon when they took me into the operating room. He is in a nice, new hospital now though as I am sure you have seen (or not). I never saw him until the day before surgery. Anyway, it took me several months to get filled tight enough to start losing. I went back to Dr. Kuri for my first fill and then I found a few doctors here in Texas to do it. I made it to my goal weight in about 10 months or so and then my band slipped. I think I probably got my band filled to full too fast and I was throwing up, so I don't think it was Dr. Kuri's fault. I then had a new band put in here in Texas and I have been banded for 7 years. So, I guess my experience with Dr. Kuri was good. The only thing that was a little scary to me was that I could hardly wake up the day of the surgery. I think the nurses were shootong stuff in my IV to keep me knocked out. I kept waking up and I could hardly hold me eyes open. I would see my husband sitting there and go right back to sleep. That finally wore off in the middle of the night. I was worried about it because I had to fly home the next morning! I woke up during the night/early morning and I whelled my IV into the bathroom and was able to go and then I was able to stay awake. I had just never experienced that before!

My Skin Is Stuck To My Port!

I am at my goal weight and have been for several years. It's normal for my port to stick out just a tad because I have very little fat on my midsection. I always tend to have a slightly darker skin tone on top of my port, but now it's darker and surrounded by redness. It appears that the darker part of my skin has attached or grown on to my port! I can move the rest of my skin, but not the darker area. If I move a certain way in bed, or touch the dark area at just the right place I feel a burning sensation! I am thinking that the burning is caused by the attached skin being slightly pulled away from the port! I am a teacher and school is about to be out, so I will be seeing the doctor soon. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how it remedied. I am not having any signs of complications with my band. It is strictly my port.

My Skin Is Stuck To My Port!

Thanks for all of the advice. I will try to get a doctor's appointment set up for Monday!
  4. My first band slipped after about 10 months or so. I was already at my goal weight, but I didn't want to just have it removed. I ended up having the band removed and a new band was put in. The first surgery was so easy. I hardly had any discomfort so I didn't even worry about the second one. OMG!!!! It was painful! I guess it hurt more because instead of just having something put in me, something was taken out and then something was put in. That was six years ago and my band has been in a great position every time I have had a fill/x-ray. I wish you sucess.
