My goal is to be healthy and still maintain some muscle mass

I still have a way to go, but I don't think I'm doing too badly considering I'm still recovering from knee surgery, thus my exercise is limited.

    Hope this helps someone.
For those who don't know, I started at almost 300lbs. And in almost no notable muscle.

Nice job OTR! Where are the "before" pics for comparison? Because (and this is a true compliment) you don't look like you were ever obese to begin with!
(Also what are you doing with your hands in the first one?) Just curious, is this a body builder pose I'm unaware of?...honestly looks like you are washing your hands...lol. Or wait, maybe to show definition?
Either way you are doing an incredible job. Sorry to hear about the knee surgery, hopefully it's feeling better now.

I'd just like to clear a couple things up from this thread.
    1. All WLS have an amount of risk. Anybody that believes that the risks involved in the sleeve are greater than that of the Lap Band I invite you to visit the forum Vertical Sleeve Talk, sub forum band to sleeve revisions. I assure there is no lack of horror stories & near death experiences involving the LB. I'm very glad that the LB has worked for most people on this forum, & I truly hope it continues to work for you
    2. The sleeve has actualy been around since the 1950's. It was originally performed on patients twhos BMI was too high to safely perform RNY on, with the intent of converting it to RNY once the patient reached a safe weight. There are recorded events as far back as the 1970's of RNY patients receiving the first step of the procedure(the sleeve) and then opting to not follow through with the intestinal rerouting, making them a defacto sleever. Furthermore the sleeve has been performed as a stand alone procedure since the mid 90's, the reason most people weren't familiar with it is because it wasn't approved as a stand alone procedure in the United States till about 5-6 years ago.

You can expect to see about 1" more penis per 35lbs of weight loss. Of course this is limited to the the amount of fat surrounding yours.
I have lost just shy of 100lbs & can say it is verry noticeable. And with less fat around it, holding it up, it does hang lower (appear even larger) flacid.

    Hey Frank,
Thanks for sharing, glad to hear your surgery was so uneventful. Unfortunately those of us that had no problems just don't say it enough. But honestly most surguries go quite well. It might be time to revive the "good recovery" thread.

O.T.R. sleever got a reaction from UNAWAYNE in Sleeve: The UNTOLD Story
Most of my problem with American providers is with the attitude of the surgeon & the staff
In Mexico, any little discomfort is taken seriously, examined, and addressed. Quite the opposite in American hospitals.
In Mexico they want to identify any possible issue before it becomes a problem, whereas whereas American facilities have repeatedly written off complaints as patients just being whiners.
And when there is a problem, American doctors first response seems to be to avoid litigation, whereas in Mexico the first response is to serve the patient.
I don't really blame the surgeons for this as much as I do society. They are practicing medicine in an environment that is continually seeking an opportunity to rake them over the coals. Whereas in Mexico a patients recourse is to ruin the surgeons future career, but it won't be to the financial benefit of the patient.
