I am of German descent, and in my opinion, we here in America are doing a huge disservice to our children by "protecting" them from alcohol. I was given small amounts of beer in my bottle as a baby. And as I grew I was never refused alcoholic beverages, they were limited, just as any responsible parent would with sodas.
Now the argument can be made on both sides about health advantages/disadvantages. But where I saw the biggest difference was in my late teens & early twenties when all my friends were out getting sloshed, alcohol really wasn't that big of a deal to me, because I had access to it and was taught moderation with it my entire life.

You can expect to see about 1" more penis per 35lbs of weight loss. Of course this is limited to the the amount of fat surrounding yours.
I have lost just shy of 100lbs & can say it is verry noticeable. And with less fat around it, holding it up, it does hang lower (appear even larger) flacid.

I haven't had any problems with them. Been drinking spicy hot V8 since full liquids. Also I have cucumber in my shrimp cocktail. & I use a ton of tomatoe based sauces.
One of my faves right now is marinnera meat sauce made w/ Italian seasoned turkey meat.

Can we put this one to rest please. It is understandable that someone that has been through the hell Dawn (Iggy) has, due to a leak, would be more sensitive to potential leak causing activities.
I do agree though that "wishing a leak" on someone is a bit harsh, but is very uncharacteristic of Iggy. I'll say, whenever someone seeks advice in those situations, she is almost always one of the first to respond.
I think this boils down to a bit of frustration meeting a bit of sensitivity.

    Thinner Peace,
When were you sleeved? I was told that when I am fully healed and all the swelling is gone my sleeve will be 8-10oz. No offense meant, your NUT is probably a great resource for knowing how to nourish your body properly with the restriction given, but he is wrong about stretching your sleeve by using a straw.
liquids are not affected by our restriction, and unless you found a way to suck a turkey through a straw, there is simply no way for a straw to cause your sleeve to stretch. Secondly you have to understand that your sleeve is not made out of the stretchy portion of the stomach like the pouch of an RNY patients is (this is where I think your NUTs misunderstanding is) instead it is the muscular portion of the stomach, not easy to stretch at all, yes, it can be done, but it takes a ton of abuse for this to happen.

It is most often too big of bites, eating too fast or not chewing well enough. The body is trying to lubricate the the food so tgat it will move down.

Most slider foods are pretty easy to tell. First off sliders are high calorie/carb
If it melts or turns into a liquid while eating (ice cream, Jello, popcorn)
If you smash it up and find that it takes up very little space ( potato chips cheese doodles)
It's really kind of amazing. Take a bag of Cheetos and put them in a blender then measure them. You'll completely understand why you can eat so many of them.(this works for chips too).

If you are using whey protien, the protien is not the culprit. I also suffer from gout,
Unfortunately, it is an effect that comes from rapid weight loss. It triggers a gout attack.
You can get tart Cherry juice at your local health food store, it will help, but remember it is high in sugar so, don't drink a lot at one time.
Also you can get a Uric Aid cleanse in capsulet form.
The good news here is, with our new lifestyle and eating habits, once you flush the excess Uric acid from your system gout should just be a bad memory.
Edit: just notice you are pre op, disregard the statement about limiting the cherry juice, and if you are getting protien from red meat that can definately be a contributing factor. But, whey contains no Uric acid. Also, are you a drinker, because drinking alcohol also contributes to gout.

O.T.R. sleever got a reaction from mybuddha2b in Can You Shrink Your Sleeve?
Well, I'm pretty good at being hard on people, but that really is only needed to wake up someone that has fallen asleep at the wheel. You on the others hand seem to be well aware of what is going on, you just need to decide when you've had enough. Once you've decided that, then you've got to be willing to put the work in to get back on track.
The great news is that your body is an amazing thing. IF you have stretched your sleeve your can shrink it back to its normal size. Keep in mind it's normal size is bigger than it was at 6-8 months post op. you fully healed sleeve could be as much as 10oz.
Now here's the hard part, in order for your sleeve to shrink, you cannot fill it up. You are going to have to go back to basics, a liquid/soft diet for a couple weeks isn't a bad idea, but for sure you are going to have to measure/weigh your portions. Keep your portions @ or below 6oz at a sitting when you are eating. This is not such a big deal with liquids(as I'm sure you already know).
There is really no point in us beating up on you. You need to talk to that woman that watches you brush your teeth and ask her if she has had enough yet, is she willing to do what it takes to fix her problems. I am truly sorry for all the heartache and setbacks you've endured. But the bottom line is there is only one person that can make this happen for you.
Today you need to decide to live like no one else, so that later you can LIVE like NO ONE else.

I had my first alcoholic beverage 6weeks post op. WARNING, alcohol takes affect much quicker now. Pre op I could easily have 6-8shots before getting buzzed. At 6weeks 2shots & I was walking crooked. And it was a roller coaster ride. I'd be drunk 1 minute then a few minutes later feel nothing then buzzed again with nothing more to drink. It was crazy.
Enjoy yourself, but even if you feel completely sober, do not drive,

BillysBelly, bro, from your avi I'd say your doing great. you know what's good & not good for you. If you enjoy that occasional dog or sandwich, I say more power to you. Guys gotta be guys sometimes.
I'm actually looking forward to hitting goal. Then I'm gonna go to El Paso and get me some Chico's Tacos. I'm thinking a single order will do the trick. I use to eat 2 doubles and a single. (I wonder if I'll still like them?)

We have seen numerous 400lb+ successes come through here. Only problem is that (I'm assuming) they get so involved in their new lives, they forget about us.
Which reminds me of Patrick. Starting at 660lbs, I haven't seen a post from him in some time, but last report from another member that sees him occasionally is that he is doing great. Here's a link to his latest post.
