  1. LL!!! Great weight loss. I fully admit to being addicted to the scale, so I did peek this morning and was down 3.8 lbs. Water, I know. I will do an official weigh in on Monday mornings and change my ticker then. I really admire you for what you are doing now - losing. I gained before I started and it's not helpful at all. You go girl! Susan
  2. Hi Susie, I was diagnosed with diabetes over 25 years ago when I was 22 and was also put on insulin immediately. That is to protect your health ans the insulin will work immediately to bring your blood sugars into normal range. I then started to lose weight and went to oral meds, but not ever got off them. I lost 95 lbs. I of course put back the weight over the years. I continued on the orals but 10 years ago when I wanted to get pregnant I had to go on insulin because you can not take those meds when trying to conceive or pregnant. Well, I nevef went off insulin after that. I have not yet been banded, but I am hoping that this time when I reach my goal I will be able to go back on the orals. If not - no big deal. I am very used to taking insulin and monitoring my blood sugars. You may be able to go off meds, but it is likely that at some point in your life (when you are older) you will have to go back on or take insulin. I know this not what you want to hear but diabetes just does not go away like that. You will always be insulin resistant and will always have to be vigilant. You are doing the BEST THING for your health by getting banded and losing weight. People don't die of diabetes, they die of complications from diabetes which can be avoided with good blood sugar control. Don't panic, get as much information as you can. Feel free to PM me anytime. I will be glad to help as I have walked in your shoes. Susan
  3. Good idea! Because I have peed about 20 times today.
  4. :help: OMG!!! I need a port-a-potty at my desk!
  5. One thing they told us at the seminar at TLBC is that they give you a great anti-nausea drug during surgery. I am sure they do the same at Dr. C - maybe email them and ask.
  6. I'll change my ticker once a week - but I can assure you I will weigh myself a couple times a day!!! Watch me move my food addiction to scale addiction! LOL I am fessing up about it cause I know myself and I will do that. hmmmm... come to think of it maybe I'll change my ticker everyday!!! A girls' got to be addicted to something! It's almost hard to believe isn't it??? We are close now LL, to join the banded. Are you nervous about the actual surgery?
  7. You Guys!!!!! You are so sweet.....You have to post some pics of you two some day.
  8. Hi Leslielee. I can eat as much as I want of SF 0 or low fat yogurt, cottage cheese, SF Jello, Skim Milk, Egg whites. Are you allowed any food with Optifast? I love the idea of bra and panty set! I am going to do that and hang it up in our bedroom. Dh said he would pay for my Breast lift and tummy tuck when I get to goal IF...his stocks do well. Maybe that will give him incentive too!!! LOL.
  9. I see what you mean. I just had some cottage cheese. Ate it very slow. Are you have diet drinks as well? Like diet pop?
  10. I have also started mine early because my eating was so out of control and I wanted to take that craziness out of the equation. I was also worried about my liver being too large. My clinic told us that if it is too large there is a chance of them not being able to do the surgery laparascopically, but will have to open you up to place the band. NO THANKS! I am allowed low fat yogurt (SF), low fat cottage cheese, SF Jello, Egg whites, and Water bascially. Just started this morning, so yes I am finding it difficult but I am focusing on the goal. I would love to lose some weight before the surgery - at least the amount I put on these last couple of months!
  11. Donna - seminar was great. They walk you through every moment of your surgery day from the time you wake up until the time you leave. We got a tour of the OR, recovery rooms etc. Then there is a presentation on the pre and post op diets as well as a very detailed explanation of how the band works. It helped me feel more relaxed and assured that I was doing the right thing.
  12. I actually bought "Egg Whites Only" - which has no fat at all. Not sure about Egg Beaters. I had a yougurt, coffee and I will now have a jello because I am really hungry. I don't think we should try to starve ourselves, but I suspect that after a few days it will get easier. I think lots of liquids will help too.
  13. Hi Donna, It's not in the folder - but someone else who was banded at TLBC was told that if they could find something else with the same nutritional value - it was fine. She ate them because she hated cottage cheese and was successfully banded last month. Susan
  14. Hey Yasmina - you are doing great! Hang in there and you will find your right fill level (hopefully on Friday) Susan
  15. Hi Big Thunder - you don't have to run - start with walking. Just walking. Walk at least 30 minutes and make sure break a sweat. That's all you need for cardio - just get your heartrate up a bit. You will do fine. Good luck, Susan
  16. Yoda - how are you and the Mr.? How is the house coming along? When do you leave for Victoria? Is this a holiday for you? Inquiring minds....again....
  17. Hi Donna, Once again - you and I are neck and neck. I am really curious about how much you and everyone else who has done this before has eaten. What will you have for breakfast? lunch? dinner? I also bought Egg Whites only to make scrambled eggs in the microwave. There are approved because they are similar in protein, fat (none) and calories as say - yogurt or jello. I weighed myself this morning and plan on weighing myself every day! It will be hard enough fighting the food demons, I will give in to my scale obsession! :faint: I am rooting for you!!! Susan
  18. Today is Day 1 of my pre-op diet. I am ready for this. I managed to gain another 3 lbs, but I expected that. I hope that starting the diet early will make up for my weight gain during this time. So far this morning I had a single serving yougurt and coffee. I am not even sure what to take for lunch so I thought I would take a tub of cottage cheese to stash in the fridge along with another yogurt and a serving of SF Jello. It is hard to gauge how hungry I will be. I will take my glucometer with me because my blood sugars will be very unpredictable. Another reason for doing this early so that I can have them in normal range consistently before THE BIG DAY!!! THE BIG DAY - not long now. Can't wait to join the banded in this quest/challenge/journey. Update: DH took my before pics and they are not pretty. I find it so interesting how I can look at myself in the mirror to get dressed and not see myself. They were especially difficult to look at - and I really LOOKED - becauseI am wearing underwear that I wore 30 lbs ago! I am too stubborn to buy bigger clothes because I got rid of all my larger clothes last time. I will this time as well, but I am more positive that I will not EVER need them again.
  19. Yup - yogurt, cottage cheese, egg white and SF Jello. Went shopping today to pick that all up. It was so funny because I might buy a 12 pack of yogurt that would last 2 weeks and here I was buying 2 -12 packs for the week (along with 3 tubs of cottage cheese) Tonight I am making a standing rib roast for my last meal. My daughter is back home and we are having friends for dinner. I hope it is memorable! Susan
  20. Hey Donna - we are on the same path. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow as well. I am starting a little early because my eating was so out of control. I am being banded May 2nd by Dr. Yau at Scarborough Grace. Exciting isn't it? About the ticker go to tickerfactory.com Then just follow the steps it is really easy. After you make your ticker, then go to edit your profile here and there is a section to add a ticker. copy and post the http code from ticker factory to that section and voila! It will appear. Were you are the TLBC pre op seminar on the 10th? Good luck, Susan
  21. Okay last day. Up at 5 am this morning with dog, but I am not yet able to go back to sleep. I am nervous but excited to start my early pre op. I feel like I am doing the right thing and I am one step closer to my band.
  22. It is the begnning of the end of this beinge for me. I start my pre-op on Monday so this is my "dirty" weekend. Gee.....how much more damage can I actually do to myself?
  23. Too funny!!! We Canadians love this stuff. Susan
  24. Essential - not sure but I have taken to reading up a bit more on addiction. I will post anything of A HA! value. Susan
  25. So last night I was telling DH how fat I felt, how I was ashamed to see anyone who I haven't see for a while because of all this weight I regained. His parents are coming back from a trip tomorrow and he is going to pick them up at the airport (His Dad is in a wheelchair). So I said - "I feel so fat that I am not going to the airport with you to pick up your parents". Then he said "You won't fit anyways". :faint: He of course meant because of the wheel chair, luggage etc. I cracked up! He was mortified! :embarassed: We had a good laugh over it but I will NEVER let him live it down!!! :heh: Susan
