  1. I would ask for it also. My Doctor does one before, and one after each fill, it makes me feel better knowing all is well with my band. Let us know how it goes.
  2. I have not had a single bubbly drink in a year, since being banded. I love Coke, so giving it up completely was brutal, but I did it. I just kept picturing the carbonation eating away at my band, I wasn't told that is what it does, that's just where my mind went, LOL!
  3. You are doing great! Congrats! My one year is this week too
  4. Awesome!! congrats! I'm a June 2012 bandster too
  5. Oh it's been a year and I remember that pain, it's awful. What helped me was Gas-X strips, since you can't swallow the big pills, the strips were a lifesaver. I also used ice packs when it got unbearable. Good luck, you'll get through this hump
  6. You look great! Congrats!
  7. You're doing great!! Congrats on your hard work and success!! My 6 month anniversary is tomorrow, I'm down 47 lbs. and I get a fill tomorrow
  8. Congratulations! you're doing great!
  9. Very soon after surgery you've got swelling, water weight and bloat. I didn't see the scale move until a week or more after my surgery. It's early in the healing process, I also didn't have any desire to drink much less eat the first two weeks, I did find that sugar free Popsicles were my friends those first weeks. Get a good accurate scale if you feel like your current one fluctuates too much, my old one was driving me insane (I'm a daily weigher) so I got the awesome Eatsmart Precision Plus...I love that thing
  10. You're doing great! You're at the start of a whole new life and a whole new you! Rock that band!

As much as I HATE exercise I am going to get off my can and do it, and keep doing it. I have a muffing top too...icky thing just won't go away. We'll win the battle though

In two days I will have been banded four months, and I really really really want to be at a 40lb. loss then. I'm putting this out there into the Universe, so you know...it will come true I would need to lose 2.5 lbs. in the next two days...man, that would be so sweet!
  13. There should be a "Holiday Survival" thread we can refer to during those days My must-do is to not have left-overs in the house, once the HoliDAY is over no more such food around me, I don't want to make it a HoliWEEK!
  14. LOL at the previous comment, and also a big AMEN!
  15. CONGRATS!!!!! What a milestone day for you!
  16. I have a problem with the Dr. at the Seminar speaking FOR the other Dr. I chose the band for the same reasons you did, and in four months I have learned how to manage and work with my band, with Gastric I know I would be back to old habits, we all make the choices that are best for us. Good luck with your consultation, keep us posted.
  17. Awesome! I'm impressed you're so alert and feeling good, I was good for nothing for 3 days.
  18. I have to add this, and I am not as nice as you...so if it were me, I would stop updating her on your weight and if she asked I'd say "i don't know", LOL! I have done that for the last three months to someone, because I didn't like the way she looked at me when I said "25 lbs.", she kind of scoffed...so that was it for me, the next time I said "I have no idea, i am not weighing anymore." See? told you I was not as nice as you
  19. I'm sorry you're getting that reaction. Just be proud of yourself and the hard work you're doing, a 24lb. loss is wonderful and more so in only two months! Sometimes we have to find support and encouragement outside our family or friends, surround yourself with positive people who are going to be happy for you. I find that in this forum, and it helps because only a handful of people know about my surgery. Keep rocking that band girl!
  20. Where are you located? Dallas/Ft. Worth area When did/do you get your band? June 20, 2012 What do you like/look forward to do(ing) for exercise? It being OVER! What's your fave thing to eat? Before my band: Potatoes in all variations, big juicy steaks and cheesecake...now? it varies all the time, mostly chicken and salads Fave music groups/artists/types? Country and all 80's music What are you looking forward to? Being and feeling healthy Anything else you want to tell us? Where is everyone??
  21. This week has been tough, lots of bad news, sickness and it just has been non stop! Frankly I'm almost afraid to think about the next day *sigh* The thing is that I was an emotional eater, and still may be since that may be something we don't get rid of, we may just learn to make better choices. Instead of eating too much I'm barely eating at all, a couple of days I've ad just a handful of Almonds, or a Protein shake...yeah, all day. I know it's bad for me, but with everything I have going on in my head I just cannot even think about eating, the little bites I've had are just so I don't pass out. Not that what I'm doing is a good thing, but at least I am not stuffing my face with anything and everything around me. I used to look sideways at the girls who said "I'm too upset to eat" but, now I know what that's like. I will get back on track, and I do plan on eating a sensible meal tonight even if I have to make myself do it. Life has ups and downs, with and without a band...life just keeps on going and changing.
  22. All great suggestions. You're doing great, congrats and update us on how the changes impact you.
  23. Posts like yours are why I love this site! I learn something new each day. You're doing great...and oh my goodness your curves are Hot Hot Hot!!!

Great post! I do the comparison thing too, when I read that someone has lost 50+lbs. in 3-4 months I think "what??? why not me??" then I look at the amount of weight they started with and it never fails, it's more than where I was pre-op. Thanks for sharing, we all need those little reminders.
