I Want
I gave myself the 4 days before surgery (no pre-op diet for me) to eat whatever I wanted to. I had Mexican, chicken fried steak, a night at Texas de Brazil and donuts. Oddly enough, it wasn't as GREAT as I thought it'd be and I'm VERY glad I allowed myself to indulge! I needed those few "food Funerals" and the peace of mind they gave me. Having said that, everyone's journey is different and you have to listen to your gut. (<---HA!!)

Really Sick, Need Help!
- Oct. 15, 2012 Sleeve Date
I think I'd really lose my mind without Popsicles, pudding and yogurt! I want to CHEW!- Oct. 15, 2012 Sleeve Date
I've been STARVING all day long and I have one incision that is quite painful. I managed to get all of my fluids & most of my Protein, but it's been a challenge mentally. And never mind that 99% of the damn TV commercials are for FOOD!! >- Oct. 15, 2012 Sleeve Date
Me me me!! Ice had a tough day today, too. I finally broke down and cried.- Really Sick, Need Help!
I was HORRIBLY nauseated for the first three days, until they changed my pain medicine (from morphine to loritab) and started me on Phenergan. Now I'm getting all of my fluids and protein in, an no more nausea!- Did You Have Only Liquids One Week Postop?
I was on the 15th too! 2 weeks of full liquids, 2 weeks of puréed and 4 weeks of soft foods. I want some (salty) chicken SO BADLY!!- Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
Surgery was Monday the 15th and I have 6 incisions. The largest one (mid-stomach, under my right boob), is painful and had lots of swelling around it. My doc explained that that is the incision through which my "excess" stomach was removed and that's why it's bigger. There's no redness or oozing, and it's not particularly warm, but it's really hurting, especially getting up/down from sitting or lying down. Anyone else experiencing or experienced something similar? Is this normal? Should I put heat or ice on it or just leave it alone?- Fmla (Medical Leave)
A company has every right to set pay policy to run concurrent with FMLA leave. Most companies require an employee to utilize (and often exhaust) vacation/sick/PTO time while out on FMLA leave, and any accruals are suspended during the leave as that is not actual work time. OP, FMLA is unpaid, job-protected leave for up to 12 weeks as long as you've worked for your company for 1year and clocked at least 1250 hours. You'll also be required to submit medical certification from your surgeon with specifics about your condition and the duration of your requested leave. A good HR person will walk you through this process. Good luck to you!- Handeling Stress?

In what state are you employed?- I Have A Conundrum Need To Vent....
Ask for a private meeting and tell him how you feel. Explain your concerns and listen to what he says and what his body language tells you. Otherwise you're just going to drive yourself crazy!- Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
Ok, I'm having a little freak out today. I had surgery last Monday (the 15th). I'm sipping, sipping, sipping like crazy on both flavored water and protein shakes. But starting yesterday afternoon, I'm SO HUNGRY. I've heard almost everyone else say they have NO appetite at this point and I'm panicking. Any advice at all?! :'(- Problem With Chafing And Bike Riding.

You're going to think I'm NUTSO, but go buy a coloring book and crayons. Good ones, too, not the cheap crayons! Something about coloring pictures is so relaxing and therapeutic. There are some really cool "adult" coloring books at most book stores. Mine is of stained glass.- Multi Vitamin That Doesn't Make You Vomit?
And I know every surgeon has his/her own ideas, but mine says that children's vitamins are not complete for Bari patients.- Multi Vitamin That Doesn't Make You Vomit?
I'm using the ENS protein powder with everything in it-protein, multivitamin and calcium. I only have to do the chewable iron in pill form.- Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
I way over did it today. I was feeling pretty, dang good during the early afternoon and apparently over extended myself bc now I'm in serious pain. The incision right under my right breast is especially painful. Oh, and I fell asleep and missed my pain dose by TWO HOURS which of course doesn't help. WAH. And I'm COLD, which is WAY strange bc I'm always hot!- October Sleevers?
I'm 2 weeks full liquids, 2 weeks puréed, 4 weeks soft food and then on to regular food. It's crazy how many differences of doctors' opinions there are on this!- Louisiana Sleevers?
I'm so freaked out...I've been STARVING all day long. To the point that I'm preoccupied with eating and food. I never expected to still feel this hungry after surgery. I can't handle feeling this hungry and not being able to eat.- Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
I was sleeved on Monday and the incision right below my right breast is really painful. The doc said that's the one that they use to pull the stomach through once it's cut. It burns and hurts terribly and it nearly kills me getting in and out if bed! I'm sipping, sipping, sipping on Crystal Light flavored water and I managed to keep down a protein shake earlier today. I'm not even close to water or protein goals though; maybe about 1/2. And does anyone else have diarrhea?- Newly Sleeved
I was sleeved on Monday the 15th and I'm starving! I'm so freaked out. I didn't expect to feel this hungry and I'm preoccupied by the damn food commercials on crappy, daytime TV. Please tell me that this hunger will go away...- Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
I was sleeved on Monday the 15th. I'm trying hard not to freak out, but I'M STARVING. What gives?!?! Out if all if the things untried to anticipate, I never expected to be so hungry. How can that be?!- Louisiana Sleevers?
Feeling much better since getting home. I'm in control of my medication and can actually get some rest. And I'm sipping, sipping, sipping Crystal Light flavored water. It's still slow going but I'm doing the best I can do! - Oct. 15, 2012 Sleeve Date
