  1. You should've posted, "my feelings are hurt and I'd like more acknowledgment for my accomplishment", or just never come here again. Why bother with an insulting rant?
  2. Thanks for the encouragement y'all! Had a little meltdown last night. I'm exceptionally lucky to have such an amazing husband. Love that man! Right now I'm feeling badass and in control. If course that can change in 5 minutes somehow knows. I'm thinking it'll be somewhat easier once I'm back at work since I'll be distracted. Also, my large incision is stinging quite a bit today. Not excruciating pain, but burning and uncomfortable. Anyone else?!
  3. The Unjury Chocolate Splendor gets my vote. Tastes just like chocolate milk!
  4. I've managed pretty well today, but right now I'M SO FREAKING HUNGRY. I know it's not "real", but that makes it no less miserable. I'd kill or die for just some chicken salad. I need to chew. I need meat. This is awful. Why, why, WHY did I do this?
  5. Are you running any fever? Nausea or vomiting? How do you feel otherwise?
  6. Thanks, y'all. I feel weak. And I *hate* weak.
  7. I'm 1week post-op today (10/15/12) and I'm so blue and funky today. I'm feeling sad and teary, and just generally "off". It's been a chore to get enough Water down, but I'm doing it for the most part. And I'm on full fluids, do I'm having Soup and yogurt, too. I'm hoping its just the after effects of the surgery and the drugs and the loss of my (unhealthy) way if life. Any advice?
  8. I'm on full liquids, too, and Cream if chicken Soup watered down with some chick broth tastes like HEAVEN!! I could only eat about three spoonfuls but it tastes REALLY good. I'm feeling really blue today. Kind of sad and funky. I guess it's the after effects of the anesthesia, pain medicine and losing my beloved food. Gotta keep my head straight... :/ This is a mental struggle every minute. It gets better, right? RIGHT?!
  9. Not sure about calories, but I'm doing well with my Water and Protein shakes. It's a struggle but I'm getting 64oz of water and about 55mg of protein. I'm just so discouraged. :'(
  10. We are SO STRONG, y'all! We are brave and strong and WE CAN DO THIS!!! Don't let one weak moment get us off track! Don't let the food control US...we are BADASS WEIGHT-LOSING WARRIORS!!!!!
  11. How us it even possible that I GAINED A POUND? I'm so frustrated. I see others losing in the double digits the 1st week and I had only lost 5 lbs, only to weigh this morning and be UP a pound! How can that even BE given that I'm only on liquids?! :'(
  12. I'm not sure even how much weight one needs to lose is the reasoning. I need to lose about 100 pounds and I had no pre-op diet at all! Just a difference in surgeon's approaches.
  13. I was sleeved on the 15th, too, and have struggled with the same feelings this weekend. I know it's not "real" hunger bc once I distract myself (reading, movie, go outside, call a friend), it goes away, but MAN they're powerful feelings! I had a little crying tantrum today bc I felt so hungry! My husband was so sweet and encouraging and kept reminding me that this next few weeks is the worst and it'll get better. I'm so glad we all have each other! Can you imagine doing this alone?!?!
  14. I'm thinking of her, too, and hoping all is well.
  15. Why put yourself through the pain and expense of a drastic surgical intervention and then choose to disregard your surgical team less than a week in? I just don't get it. Why bother having surgery?
  16. Every doctor (and, frankly, patient) has an opinion on what causes and doesn't cause leaks. The truth is, short of anything EXTREME, no one knows for sure. Some surgeons are extra, super conservative (weeks and weeks of pre-op and post-op liquids), while others are less so (no puréed stage and regular foods early). Leaks are thankfully a relatively rare complication and there is no proof that either approach is "right" (even though each side will argue their case vehemently!). The best you can hope for is to choose a surgeon with a good track record and trust his or her advice.
  17. Emotionally, I've been all over the place this weekend. One minute I'm all, "I got this!!", and the next I'm doing the ugly cry and thinking, "I'm going to fail at this like I've failed every other time I've tried to get the weight off." I vacillate wildly between feeling that I've finally taken control and feeling like I'm going to eat the 1/2 a chocolate cake left from my daughter's bday yesterday RIGHT NOW. I honestly did not expect to feel this hungry at this point. I'm craving meat so badly. Such a roller coaster and I won't OFF of it! :'(
  18. There are SO many differences among surgeons! I was one of the few here who also had no pre-op diet. Just nothing to eat or drink after 11pm the night before surgery! And there are any number of post-op diets, too. You just have to choose a surgeon you trust completely and follow his/her orders. Good luck!
  19. I hope is all is well!! Let us know how you are. {{HUGS}}
