  1. I am in Canada, and once I decided, I pretty much had my pick of dates. Could have gotten in as early as 3 weeks. My summer schedule was crazy so I took 4 months, If you have the time and flexibility for appts etc, you should be okay for Sept.
  2. I think you are still about 2 weeks out from eating taco bell. You could do damage to yourself and your band.
  3. I am not allowed anything with seed for at least 3 weeks, includes strawberries and blueberries.
  4. Ottawa, being banded Sept 17th
  5. I am allowed anything that runs off a spoon on day 2-14...........soups, pudding, yogarts, smoothies
  6. I was just at the grocery store and bought some gatoraid - it was the 'recovery' kind with 16g of Protein per serving. I am a month out and just stocking up on stuff, so I have no idea if something that liquid with that much protien will help with hunger or not..........if anyone know, let me know. Have a feeling this might be good for the first few days post op - liquid. **I just looked and it has 13g of sugar........not sugar free, might save it for later, but something I would consider during recovery if I need to get liquids in.
  7. Can you throw in a scoop of protien into your smoothie........might help with the hunger. I am not allowed to eat anything with seeds (strawberry/blueberries, for quite some time - maybe week 3). Try to get more protien in anything you eat, soup, smoothie, yoghart, puddings etc.
  8. Good for you, I am 2 weeks behind you but on 4 shakes a day, 1 serving of fruit, 1 serving of veggies and sf popsicles, jello and that is about it.............
  9. No, had a consultation at the end of May, could have gone in June, July or Aug........but my schedule didn't work for the limited summer dates they had available, and summer is usually spent at the lake with family, so didn't want to put a damper on that. Met with the surgeon in July, had nutritional consult last week and pre op consult in 2 weeks then optifast Sept 2nd. I just have to go for my bloodwork in the next few weeks and all should be done.
  10. I am sorry to hear what you are going through. I am not sure how old you are or how dependent on your mother (ie do you live with her) but maybe it is time for some tough love back and standing up to her. No matter how much I loved my mother, it would not be acceptable to speak to me that way and she would certainly know it. Sometimes you have to make boundaries/rules and there has to be consequences if they can't respect you, or treat you with respect. I understand a bit, my mother is 110 soaking wet and is obsessed with exercise and her weight. If by chance she has a full on coke she nearly strokes out. She is a lifetime member of WW and still weighs in and the world is coming to an end if she gains 5lbs. Although she is supportive of my surgery, the zings still happen...........are you sure you can do this, i'm not sure you can change your habits, should you really be eating that, you need some exercise. Keep in mind I'm 45. Unfortunatly they never stop, but I have had to put the breaks on her a few times. Fortunatly for our relationship, she has never called me 'fat'. Congratulations to you for making the decision to have the surgery!!!
  11. I would love to be able to sleep thru the 14 days...........
  12. I agree with you, if you can't make it on day 1 of the pre requirements, you really need to take a long hard look at how you are going to change your habits for post band life. The band is not going to stop you from eating chocolate, chips, cake, sweets etc, because those are easy foods to eat with the band. You will need to be diligent to eat your 70g of protien, veggies, fruits at every meal and stop when you feel satisfied. i am sure that like me you have read stories how people were taken into surgery and woke up without having the procedure because of the fatty liver. I don't have advice as I am 2 weeks behind you, but just think of the end result, drink lots, get some sugar free popsicles, not sure if you can have fruit or veggies, but enjoy them if you can, go for a walk. I understand that the first 3 days are the hardest, so.........pull up those big girl panties, and tomorrow is a new day, start over and keep your eye on the prize. Having said all that, you might even see me here in 2 weeks with an identical post to yours......have a nutrition consult yesterday, and I am most freaked out by the 2 week on optifree, but will take it one day at time. Have a great day tomorrow.
  13. I had my nutrition consult yesterday and in addition to my 4 shakes/day I can have 1 serving of fruit and 1 serving of veggies. She said I could have banana's and could put it in my shake and try to make a smoothie out of it. Every clinic and every dr is different. I would call your dr's office.
  14. They come in flavors as well. I had my nutrition consult today and she told me Oikos Key Lime was fantastic. I haven't done greek yog. yet, I am just going to jump in with both feet when the time comes.
  15. Greek yoguart..........soft, lots of protien
  16. i haven't had surgery yet, but did have my nutritional consult today.......you might need to get more protien in you to fill you up. I am not where you are yet and not sure I look forward to it but good luck.
  17. OHIP doesn't cover lapband because it is reversable, they consider it cosmetic. They do bypass but there is a pretty long wait for that.
  18. What province are you in? I am in Ontario and paying $16,000..........OHIP or health insurance covers nothing. The most I can hope for is a tax refund.
  19. Can you add protien powder to your soups, yoguart, applesauce and pudding............protien will fill you up and you can lay off the carbs. A blender, greek yoguart, pro. powder and fruit would be a good start, you should try making your own, save $$ from buying them
  20. I posted this yesterday for someone...........I haven't had surgery yet, but these are my guidelines from my surgeon From what my surgeon has given me ( and everyone is different) post surgery Day 1 - Clear Liquids only Days 2-13 - full liquids - they should all pour out of a spoon at room temp (pudding, milk, low fat cream Soups, yogurt - no chunks), fudgesicles, smoothies - all low fat/sugar free Days 14-21 - above plus pureed and soft, blenderized food. consistancy of baby food Days 21-30 above, plus soft/moist diet, bananas, applesauce, canned fruit, ground meats, well cooked veggies, crackers, cooked Cereal, sugar free/low fat, This is just brief and an outline from my surgeon keeping in mind that at most stages need to get in 70 g of Protein and recommended Water intake..........I have a mandatory nutritional councelling session prior to surgery, should find out more.
  21. Hello Courtney, I am also in Canada, getting mine done in Sudbury in Sept. I think it is smart to take that time off work to let yourself heal, especially with heavy lifting.
  22. From what my surgeon has given me ( and everyone is different) post surgery Day 1 - Clear Liquids only Days 2-13 - full liquids - they should all pour out of a spoon at room temp (pudding, milk, low fat cream Soups, yogurt - no chunks), fudgesicles, smoothies - all low fat/sugar free Days 14-21 - above plus pureed and soft, blenderized food. consistancy of baby food Days 21-30 above, plus soft/moist diet, bananas, applesauce, canned fruit, ground meats, well cooked veggies, crackers, cooked Cereal, sugar free/low fat, This is just brief and an outline from my surgeon keeping in mind that at most stages need to get in 79 g of Protein and recommended Water intake..........I have a mandatory nutritional councelling session prior to surgery, should find out more.
  23. I don't think I would be willing to risk not following the instructions based on the fact that I am doing this to save my life. I am also paying out of my pocket for this, so I have to be serious otherwise I am throwing $16K out the window. If it were not for my crazy work schedule, I could have done this last month, but the timing wasn't right. I am good with my Sept date. I am more nervous about the 2 week optifast than anything, but i have to do what I have to do.
  24. I am scheduled for surgery for Sept, but in my handy dandy patient manual, I am not allowed to even try to eat normally for 31 days........liquids, then food that is liquid at room temp, week on mushies, then very soft. What were your dr's instructions??
  25. I have had the ranch dressing and the creamy bacon dressing and they are quite good. I see that they have jams and toppings (caramel and chocolate) but I haven't tried. Thumbs up for the salad dressings though.
