Really Good Gastric Sleeve Patient Manual
thinmymind replied to Odee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, just downloaded it, will check it out. Good luck on the 4th! -
I do feel guilty sometimes, but I'll get over it, I guess. I also do what traceyinflorida does, I tip extra - as though I have ordered a meal.

Dr Kelly, What Hospital?
thinmymind replied to damanda's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You will do great - good luck! Don't be shy about asking for pain meds tonight. Ask for the one they shoot in your upper arm not the iv if you are in pain. That's what I needed, but only the one time. Really had minimal pain after that. Never even took my pills after leaving the hospital. -

Eggface's recipe for Ricotta Egg Bake has the tastes of pizza.

I melted in Laughing Cow wedges into runny mashed potatoes at that stage. But I like someone's suggestion of ricotta - that sounds good.

Well, around these parts, forgive us for all being partial to the vertical sleeve. It is a vertical sleeve forum and all. I wish you the best with your surgery and I hope you find support here no matter what type you get! -
Anyone Ever Lost Friends After Knowing You Were Getting The Surgery?
thinmymind replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have one friend that all we seem to talk about is dieting. When I first began to think about WLS, I asked her if she had ever thought of it. She quickly responded with no, so I never discussed it with her further. When I got back from Mexico, I told her, because I thought it would be great for her. Initially, she was floored and seemed happy for me. She said she wouldn't do it, but said it got her inspired to do better with her diet. As I started dropping the weight quickly, she began to want to learn more. I tried to let her know what I know because she wouldn't do any research on her own. Something happened with her and I am not sure what, but she began attacking me. I had to cut my contact with her. I need support right now, not attacking. Before all of that, I made the mistake of adding her in a secret group on Facebook, thinking it would help her to read the things other people were saying. Now she is attacking me in that group as well. I hope she is able to work through whatever is going on in her head. -
Having Issues Drinking Water
thinmymind replied to ImprovedDreamerGirl's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Try tea. Sometimes, especially in the beginning, it is much easier to get in warmer liquids. That gas feeling will eventually go away, for me it was about 3 weeks. Walking is about the only thing to help with that. Peppermint or ginger tea are both really great for soothing tummies. -
Recipe's Specific To The Different Phases Post-Op
thinmymind replied to kmoore's topic in Food and Nutrition
I drank a lot of Gatorade, then got myself to drink G2 or Powerade Zero. I am really funny with artificial sweeteners now, I can't stand them, but am having difficulty with plain water also. During full liquids, my Dr. approved oatmeal, cream of wheat and mashed potatoes all made to a very thin consistency. I used to put unflavored protein powder in them (Unjury). Don't buy a lot, as everyone will tell you. You will eat so little. -
How Much Food For First Weeks
thinmymind replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That broth is extremely high in sodium. I had done the same thing and bought Ramen noodles and drank the broth, but so high in sodium. I had also bought these little packs called Swanson's Flavor Boost - they are individual packs of a concentrated chicken broth that I could add to a mug of hot Water. Slightly less in sodium. If you can get in Isopure, that's great because you get some Protein, but don't buy a lot, I can't even look at it now and I have a lot left. Dr. Kelly will have you on clear liquids until day 10. I did have some broths, but what I really drank was Gatorade. It is still the only liquid I really like. Although I did make myself transfer to the G2 now that it is not my entire diet. Water, clear broths, caffeine-free coffees and teas, apple juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, orange juice (no pulp), crystal light, sugar free Gelatin, sugar free popsicles From day 10 until 3 weeks out, you will be on "full liquids". This is Protein shakes, milk products, cream type Soups. Jello, pudding, hot cereals made thin and soupy, vegetable juice (like V8), Carnation Instant Breakfast Good luck! -
