  1. After reading so many stories, I truly understand how lucky I am to get my date so easily. I have 3 months to get ready. Good luck to us all.
  2. Hey shoe vixen. I'm August 20th also. Just got my date today. So excited. We are sleeve buddies! Where r u getting it done? I'm in NYC.
  3. I am pee op. started with the seminar in early May. Did all 3 appts (Doctor, nut and psych) on May 17. Ran to my pcp to get paperwork and blood done. I have been seeing him regularly so he already had a six month history. Today I got approved by GHI for a August 20 date. I think I got lucky with the speed. Just be on top of you insurance requirements and become very friendly with the ins coordinator. Good luck.
  4. Got my date today too. August 20th. So excited. When should I start packing? Lol.
  5. Hi future sleeved. I have GHI And will be at Lenox Hill. My date is not firm. Still awaiting insurance approval.
  6. My parents, my sister and her hubby, who is my pcp, and my hubby of course. I told a co worker who got sleeved in Feb also. I am going to tell my daughters the night before the surgery. That's it for now. Others will be on a need to know bases. I am scheduled during my 3 week summer break so hopefully I will not need to ask for more time off.
  7. I'm having my surgery on August 20, so I have a bit of time. I love my keurig. I drink about 2 cups each morning, skim milk no sugar. Lately, I've been putting a cup of black coffee in the fridge the night before, then mixing it with my morning protein shake. Tastes like a Starbucks fancy, expensive drink!! I might switch to decaf in July.
  8. I agree with everyone here. It is YOUR journey. If you need time to get your head wrapped around it, then set a surgery date for when you are comfortable. I went to the seminar and had my apps and paperwork completed. Now just awaiting insurance approval. I am tentatively scheduled for August 20, the end of summer school. Personally, I cannot wait.
  9. Good luck to you. The office is so nIce. De Yatco is the only doctor who accepted my insurance. Roslin did the seminar. He was very god also. Wishing you a safe journey and easy recovery.
  10. I am using Dr. Yatco at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Had my consultations on May 17, with the doctor, the nutritionist and the psych eval. Also met the Carla the insurance coordinator. I made my appts with teo of my doctors and got my paperwork done. Carla submitted my paperwork to GHI on Friday and tentatively set a date of August 20. Now all I have to do is wait. 2 - 3 weeks. Now what do I do to past the time. I started the shake and cry when I realized that I have completed my first of many hurtles. Maybe this will be a journey I can finally get to the finish lime. I read the threads and posts to keep me on track and focused. Thank you al!
  11. I am using Dr Yatco. Carla just called me yesterday saying that she's sending my paperwork to GHI. Now I just am waiting for approval for August 20th. When is your date?
  12. Hi. I'm from Queens. I am hoping to get an Aug 20th date at Lenox Hills. Hope your surgery went well and wishing you and easy recovery. I don't know how to add a friend!
  13. Ai everyone. I am just stating my "journey ". I went to a seminar at Lenox Hill hospital in NYC. I had my first appointments with the nutritionist , the psychologist, Dr. Yatco and Carla, the insurance wiz Ii am in the process of getting the support letters with weight histories from 3 doctors , filling out the diary sheet, setting up appointments for a ugi and blod work. I am a NYC teacher and tea h summer school. We have 3 weeks off mid august to September. That is when I am hoping to do the surgery. We are only allowed 2 days off in the summer. What else will I need to get insurance approval and the date I want?
  14. Hi. I'm new here. I am just at the begining of my journey. I went to the seminiar, and had a triple play appointment with the nutristionist, psych, and Dr. Yatco. I also met with Carla. Trying to deal with the paper work involved for insurance GHI approval. I have 2 doctors working on the support letters, have the daily menu sheets, getting blood work and an appointment for the UGI. What else am I going to need before I can get a date for surgery. I need to fit it in during my 3 weel vacation at the end of August, before school starts up again. I am a NYC teacher. So glad I found this site. The info is great.
