  1. Hi all. I am being sleeved next Monday August 20th. What do you use to make your foods purée. I have a magic bullet. Is that enough? I hate Greek yogurt and really don't want to eat baby food. Also, what to you eat on full liquids besides protein shakes and yuke, yogurt.
  2. Hi ChristeeeNYC. Based on your name, night you be from NYC. I will,be at Lenox Hill getting sleeved on 8/20. What about you? It's so so close I am starting to freak.
  3. You are so right. I'm getting sleeved August 20. So soon! Lane Bryant, the Avenue, Mavys Women. I love to shop, even in those stores. Every summer, hubby and I go to the outlets as a date day. Not this year. This is the first summer I have no interest in clothes shopping. Took my 17 year old daughter clothes shopping and thinking that next year I might be table to shop at american eagle too. Cannot wait to find my own skinny style!
  4. I'm from Queens. Getting sleeved on August 20 at Lenox Hill inManhattan. I thought surgeons had nuts and psychs as part of there practice. At least that was my experience. Good luck to you.
  5. There was some blood work I needed to complete before insurance approval. My upper GI was required prior to my dr appointment one month before date My other bloods, urine, EKG and check x ray needed to be done within 2 weeks of my date (8/20/12). Always best to ask you doctor. There is usually a surgery coordinator that knows everything! Good luck.
  6. This is excellent advise. Very clear "formula" for success. Mind if I write it down. I have a list of thing to live by on my iPhone.
  7. I'm in Queens. Getting sleeved August 20th.
  8. I'm also having my sleeve done on August 20th. 8:30am, so I'm right behind you on line lol. Two weeks from this Monday!! , I've been playing around with different Protein drinks, got a supply of a few different ones, not too many of each. They say that our tastes will change afterwards. When my kids were babies, we use to make chicken Soup and strain the life out of it so it would flow through a bottle. My mom did that for mee and froze 1-2 oz servings. Are you traveling far? If so, you'll need to pack I'm having mine close to home, NYC, so I just got a new bathrobe with pockets to hold my insulin pump in the hospital. Good luck sleeve sister! Join our group on Facebook. It's private and called "August sleevers, where ya's at, VST group".
  9. Hi missjenny. I too am type 1. Having surgery on August 20. Are you on a pump? How did the hospital handle your diabetes. Where you able to self monitor? Sorry about all the questions. I was told to take off the pump before I leave for the hospital in the morning. So scared about that Nervous about adjusting my basals during liquid diet ( only 24 hours) and during the post op period. I know, monitor, monitor monitor. But ivealready have had more lows then normal just reducing my carbs. And when I drop, I raid the fridge before I come back to my senses. Well, that's it for now. Tanks for listening.
  10. Did your doctor instruct you to stop your mess? I know that when we are hungry and donot eat, our liver thinks we are starving and will produce glucose as a survival mechanism. Small frequent meals are best. It make sense on a long clear liquid diet, your body is reacting. Of course I too am not a doctor, just a type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump. Dealing with this for many many years. This happens to me overnight. I wake up high. Good luck to you.
  11. I have afib arrythemia as one of my co-mobitiay. sorry, spelling not my thing! Anyway, I'm using my cardoligist as my pcp since I see hi the most and he give me all my meds. I was lucky that my insurance approval did not take more then 10 days. It is worrisome to get the EKG and chest xray on August 6th, 2 weeks beore surgery. Shouldnt WLS help us with the arrythemia? I've had an ablantion and has been paddled into a regular heartbeat several time. I needed to get a thyroid blood test prior to approval. After approval I needed an Upper GI and 2 weeks prior to surgery more blood work in addtion to the above mentoned. Of course I go into a little afib every time I remember how close the surgury date is getting. Good Luck to you.
  12. Welcome to out August family. There are a great deal of us. I'm 8/20 in NYC.
  13. Congratulations and good luck as you embark on this journey. My date is August 20th.
  14. Well, after my husband, I told my bro in law cause he's my cardiologist. I then told my sister because he didn't want to keep a secret. I felt guilty so I told my parents. I few coworkers know because one of them was sleeved in February and got me thinking about this whole thing. That was in May. The secret was weighing me down. No pun intended. Lol. So today I told my daughters. My 26 and 23 year old had figured it out because my middle daughter was playing on my iPad and saw the vst notifications. Oy. The two oldest ones have been talking about it for a month, wondering when I was going to tell. So the only one who was surprised was my 17 year old. She was upset because she thinks after I lose the weight I won't be as comfortable to cuddle with! I didn't know what to say. It was easier then I thought. And a big relief After I lose weight, I think I'll have one of those banners made and fly it over the beach. Jk.
  15. Good luck. I have the same no real pre op just clears day before.
  16. my doctor doesnt require any real pre-op diet except to eat reasonable and start to practice the new way of live such as protein first, chew and eat slowly, low car/low fat etc. I do have an al clear liquid diet the day before. It's weird that different doctors require diferent things. After reading about the pre op diets here, I call my doctor and nut to make sure. good luck
