  1. How many incisions? I'm hearing 5 small holes yet I've seen some pics where there is a larger incision in the middle of the tummy with a drain.
  2. I scared and excited. Yesterday I hit up Walmart for all my Vitamins and bought a small personal blender with an attached cup as well as purchased my Syntrax Protein drinks online. I received my passport. I'm still trying to wrap my head around what I'm to do to myself, mainly removing 80 percent if my stomach, what am I going to feel when I wake up and am I going to have some of the problems that I read about such as inability to swallow much Water or stomach spasms. I'm hoping my anxiety will go away.
  3. I would love the recipes. You can send to Shirley.kane1010@gmail.com
  4. I have my surgery on the 25th as well. I'm starting my pre-op on Monday the 11th. It's just getting so close now I can't believe how time has flown by. Both excited and scared.
  5. Is anyone here having surgery by Dr Garcia on June 25th?
  6. I have a sleeve date of June 25th. I am a volume eater. I grew up going without food on a regular basis and frequently eat out if boredom or just because something else yummy is around. I know why I do it, I'm just going to have a hard time controlling it. The thought of getting queasy, sick, or vomit because I eat to fast or too much actually appeals to me. Sounds sick huh? I really need this WL tool.
  7. I'm envious if the people that have lots of time off. I have to go back a week after surgery. I have a desk job so I hope I'm not pooped out.
  8. Wishes: you look beautiful in your picture. As for my chin I have always viewed myself as I looked like 10 years ago. Call it a weird that I couldn't see a fat girl in the mirror. When I got my passport photo I could really see my chins. I look forward to them disappearing.
  9. Denalisa who is doing your surgery? I'm having mine done with Dr Garcia.
  10. Hi there. I'm having surgery on the same day. I too have been reading lots of information and thoroughly read the information packet they sent. I saw somewhere on this forum that they take you in the morni h of your surgery for your pre-op labs and EKG.
  11. Shellbell my surgery is with Dr Garcia on 6/25 in TJ. I'm excited and nervous. My company is taking us on a retreat with a great cookout and I'm going to be on my 3 day total liquid diet How well was your transition after surgery for pain, getting enough Water and Proteins and adjusting to food? How much food are you taking in. Any pointers for me? My last minute dash is getting my passport expedited. ,
  12. I am a scheduled with Dr Garcia on June 25th.
  13. K33, it has been my experience that antidepressants do cause some weight gain but not all of them. Depression can also be a chemical imbalance such as bipolar. Antidepressants help the chemical imbalance in the brain. I can tell you from experience that depression can be present when you are skinny or fat. I suffered for year with untreated depression when I was skinny and finally was diagnosed and put on medication that really helped me. Not sure of any research but I plan on staying on meds with probably the same dose after my VSG. To me it is much better than being depressed. I know this probably didn't answer your question but I feel for you.
  14. LVbigmom, How was your experience for your post-surgery diet? How much have you lost so far?
  15. Thank you for reading and replying. How was your experience with Dr. Garcia? Any issues, complications, ect? I am very interested in people's progress after they had the sleeve.
  16. All I can say is OMG! I hope you are feeling better and the VSG helps you. I would be interested in knowing how you progress. I think it just goes to show you that bad surgeons are everywhere, the USA, Mexico, ect.
  17. HELP! I have been reviewing surgeons and various facilities and now am a little confused. I have looked into A Lighter Me who works with Dr. Lopez and Dr. Garcia. I have been contacted by their coordinator Louise. I also looked at Dr. Almanza and have been contacted by Sandy and then Melissa. On the A Lighter Me website, Melissa is mentioned as a coordinator. Does Melissa work for both surgeons? Also, Almanza is listed as operating out of Jeruselum hospital (which is really a clinic) but Melissa contacted me and signed her email from Mt. Zion. When I checked Mt Zion's website, it is actually Jerusulem hospital. I have also seen past posts where Dr. Almanza operated Emmanuel Hospital. Do you see why I am getting confused? I am just looking for a surgeon who is experienced, has low infection and leak rates, has good reviews and uses a hospital. Can anyone help me sort through this and is Almanza a safe surgeon?
