Let me say two weeks for a desk job is ok but if you can take more time, take it. It's not how you feel it's getting the food and Water In. It can be a challenge. Good luck!

I had my inital appointment with the surgeon yesterday. The other day, the program coordinator gave me an estimate of the 1st of may for my surgery date. Today, she said that the insurance company is saying there's no longer a 3 month waiting period! She said sometimes they lie so we will have to see once we submit my packet. Have any of you come across this? My surgeon said I need to lose 17 lbs before surgery. That should take me 2 months and hopefully that will be as long as I have to wait.
    Yay!

    sleevemeup,
I am 5 foot 3 and 1/2 (give me that 1/2 lol). Yes, I have some excess skin. Right now it is not real bad. I kinda like to think that I am just soft (not muscular/hard). But also, I am 50 years old so even with exercising I'm not sure I would ever again see a lean/mean/muscular "hard body". Of course I do have a small sag on the very front/bottom of my stomach. What with being overweight for years and having 2 kids. But overall, it's not real bad right now. I do have the "batwing" thing going on on my arms and I do have a saggy/flat rear end now. Am I planning on plastics? Right now, today; No, it's not bad enough for me/in my opinion. However; I have had several friends tell me that the "last 20 pounds" is what did them in. And that's where I'm at, so when I finally get this last 20 off, my "softness" may turn REALLY saggy, so I am keeping an open mind to having plastic surgery.

Just got back from Frankfurt, Germany where I had my one year check up...passed with flying colors. Sadly, the doctor who did my surgery (known as the Rock Star of Gastric Surgery in Europe) was called into surgery unexpectedly so I saw someone else. Nice guy. He was very impressed with my 83 lb loss, reaching goal, and my sonogram results. I also took a copy of my recent blood work which he really appreciated having and even kept a copy! I told him I was writing a book and he invited me to a big conference on gastric surgery being held this week (unfortunately I couldn't go). But all in all, it was a great visit.
I have to say, going back into the hospital was a bit surreal....those first days a year ago were pretty darn weird...but now I couldn't be happier! The greatest news is now my brother is considering doing this too...makes me really happy.
So here I was a year ago, and here I am today standing in front of Krankenhaus Saschenhausen the hospital where my journey really started!

I was all ready... October 18th. Then, I got a note from my ins co. I had a lapse in insurance last year. They won't approve me until December. geez. When I called, they did say everything else looked good. So I guess that's better than a stick in the eye. Maybe they will have eggnog flavored shakes....lol

Just got dressed to go out running errands and put on some pants that just over a month ago I cudnt even move in let alone pull them up over my stomach. Now not only are they loose and pulled up over my stomach but they are sliding down. Then I put on my ring and now it's to big for my ring finger'nn I can't wait to get to goal!! And yes I wud definitely do it again!

Ha ha ha , well, for most people this unfortunately is true, however it is not caused by the surgery, it is caused by a change in our eating habits, more whole foods less preservatives and such. Have you ever been around when a vegan cuts one loose? Don't even get me started on milk farts.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that is just part of breaking down healthy foods.

I found this great article about the importance of the first 6-12 months (depending on how much you have to lose) after surgery.... it really made me realize I've got to make the most of that time.
I know the veteran Sleevers know this stuff but I thought the newbies and pre-surgery sleevers (like me) would be interested. It's a gastric bypass website but all the vital info is the same for Sleevers.

Had my sleep study on 9/7. The sleep tech said that she believed I did show signs of it but that of course a dr would review it and get back to me. Heard from the pulmanologist today and I did have a few episodes but not enough to qualify me as sleep apnea. He is sure that it will get better after the surgery. I'm just so excited that I don't have it .

The title says it all. I hit 50 pounds lost in 3 months since starting the pre-op diet on 6/12/12. I had surgery on 6/26 and haven't looked back! I thank all of you for your stories and support during this process. I may not post much, but I so enjoy reading everyone's questions and comments and after my husband's support, it's been the next best thing I can imagine.
I still struggle with feeling fat and not seeing the loss when I look in the mirror. Then I see these pictures and freak out! I've lost a ton!
    Congrats to everyone!

So my surgeon sent in all of my paper work to insurance on Monday. I just checked with my insurance company and it was approved the same day and they already sent the letter to my home and my doctors office on Monday! I am so excited I am almost giddy. I can't believe approval happened so fast.

I'm giving myself a year to lose weight, an as soon as I can, I will start weight training to build muscle and help the skin reabsorb. I've heard it can take another year for your skin to readjust up your new body, so I will wait until my 2 year surgical anniversary before I make any decisions on excess skin.
