  1. I am so worried about this too! I have very fine, straight hair. Right now it's shoulder length, One thing that could help is blonde highlights- which will thicken the hair shaft, making your hair appear thicker. I have tried nioxin products but found the shampoo too drying for my hair. There is a gel/serum that you can put on the roots, that my friend swears by, but I have never used it. My good friend does my hair, and has for years. One thing we thought of was hair extensions for thickness rather length. I still don't know what I will do, but cutting it all off works for me too! There is another product on the market called Keranique that is available. I think I may try that.... anyone else use this???
  2. Thank you everyone! So, I guess you need to wait a while for the skin to suck it up! Hoping and praying for the best.... Get my date tomorrow, and have my psych eval. Stoked! So ready for this!
  3. You look great! I am glad to hear you haven't had too much saggy skin. I am extremely worried about that. I have about the same amount to loose, but I am a little taller. So worried about the girls... I was a 32-A or B pre-pregnancy. I have come to accept that if I do need a little nip-tuck, so be it. I can't wait to get on the other side of the fence!
  4. Hello out there.... I am in the final stages of approval and will be getting my date Friday! My biggest stress is my skin. I would like to know of those out there that have lost 100 ish pounds and what has happened to their skin. If you were saggy, where it is, how bad is it - really.... I've pretty much accepted the "girls" are going to be the area most affected. I have still maintained a great deal of exercise and muscle despite my weight gain, so I am hoping that will help. Any stories, suggestions, ways of handling the problems, etc. Thanks!
  5. Thank you! Yesterday, I found out I will be seeing the Doc that I saw for Celiac Disease years ago. He is a derm, but specializes in immunology and Celiac. Since everything else was normal and there was no evidence of cancer, I am hoping this will all be fine.
  6. Last week, I had my pre surgery endoscopy. It was a breeze. That being said, my surgeon found everything to be normal, with the exception of a white thing in my esophagus. It was biopsied, along with some other areas and was not found to be cancerous or infected. He wants me to see a certain dermatologist for this?? Not quite understanding this... Anyone else experience this strange thing? I sure hope this doesn't disqualify me.....
  7. I had mine out a few years ago. It was also after a round of HCG. HMMM. Mine was all sludge. Gallbladder surgery was a breeze, and I felt better instantly. Before they took it out, I was a vomit machine. Glad it is gone!
  8. I am hoping it won't be more than post pregnancy. With fine hair, I have found that if I go blonder, it appears thicker. I have my color all planned out. Probably having my color done around the 2 month post op, probably a few more foils.
  9. I tried to get them to do it when I was out with my endoscopy- no such luck! Oh well. I think I will drink a ton of water beforehand.
  10. Well, I had my endoscopy yesterday. All went well, still burping gas, and sneezing. Tomorrow I will give 18 vials of blood. Has anyone else had that many drawn? I am used to 10, but 18= geez. Better safe than sorry I guess.
  11. I'm thinking hair extensions.... I have a lot of hair but it is very fine. My friend that is a hairdresser suggested it. We shall see.... I might just cut it all off!
  12. Same for me! I don't drink a lot, and I drink it black. I can't stand the latte or the sweet coffee drinks. The only time I didn't drink coffee is when I was preggers. For some reason, it made me want to puke. My doc said I could drink coffee. I can give up anything but my cup of Joe in the morning!
  13. When mine was a problem, almost anything I ate other than fruit or vegetable juice bothered me. broth was okay. I couldn't eat any fat or Protein without incident. I never had gall stones, just a bunch of sludge. I lived on Rx nausea meds until they took it out. I left the hospital feeling better immediately after removal, back at work the next day.
  14. Yuck, I had the sludge a couple of years ago. Had the nuclear medicine test, and they took it out. I instantly felt better. Even immediately post surgery, I felt better than when I went under for the procedure. I guess that is one less thing I need to worry about for this journey! I had it out and was back at work the next day. A little tired from the anesthesia, but other than that I was fine. I didn't even take any pain meds after leaving the hospital.
  15. Thank you, I was wondering the same thing. I have had 5 surgeries in the past 2 1/2 years without this even coming up or being questioned. 3 of them with the same surgeon and anesthesiologist. I go in 3 weeks for a consult. Hoping that is where it ends....
  16. I have to go in for a consultation next month. They gave me paperwork to fill out. My husband, who has apnea and snores like a bandsaw, said there is no way I could have it. His snoring keeps me up, and I do wake up in the middle of the night if I eat to closely to bedtime, have more than 1 glass of wine or have one of those lovely hot flashes. I am hoping that if they want to further investigate, they will send me home with one of those machines to hook up and let me do it at home. I have the hardest time sleeping away from home.
  17. Before my weight gain, I was a 32B. I thought having big boobs would be nice. I've had these big boobs for 15 years (38DD), and can't wait for them to go away. If I need surgery after all of this so be it. I just hope that the doc can keep em small. lol
  18. Great question... I was open to the best option for me. With the bypass, you absolutely cannot take certain meds that I sometimes need to take. I have had multiple surgeries on my legs from sports and now from injuries sustained due to my weight. I have also had some inflammation issues with autoimmune conditions. Should I need to take prednisone or anti-inflammatories, I can under strict supervision. If I had the bypass, from what I was told I can't take those period. When I had my consult, we discussed all of my options and came to the conclusion that this is my best option. The sleeve is new. From what I was told, it is becoming more popular in Europe than bypass. True, the long term studies have not concluded, maybe that is why.
  19. Well, here's one for ya... I am doing my 3 month supervised diet with my surgeon. I go to the classes, follow the diet to a "T" and exercise. I am just finishing my 1st of 3 months. I just got on the scale and noticed that I have gained 2 lbs. I have my class and weigh in tomorrow night. I have noticed that I do eat more carbs- fruits, vege's and a little quinoa than I have in the past- but this is what I have been told to do in the diet. In myfitnesspal, I am under my calorie intake by 300-500 cals per day due to exercise. I just don't get it... I would have thought I would loose. 2 lbs isn't that much and is probably water, but I am bummed. I am almost thinking of going to 2 shakes and 1 meal a day to loose some weight.
  20. I am in the same boat. Fortunately, I am with a small employee funded insurance, and have been for almost 10 years. They have said that they will take a look at the sleeve if it is better for me... we shall see. They have covered all of the problems that I have had due to my weight problem including medicines and several surgeries. I am hoping that those problems will convince them that the sleeve is for me. My surgeon is writing a letter stating that it is the best option for me. Fingers and toes crossed!
  21. I take spirolactone for hair growth. It has helped a great deal. I still get a few hairs, but it has greatly decreased, and is lighter in color. It also helps with a skin condition I have called sebaceous hyperplasia. I am pre-surgery, but I hope I can continue this particular med, because of what it does over all.
  22. They also have cleaning tablets. We use these for the bags. My son is a mountain biker and sometimes puts vitamin water in it, and then forgets about it for a few days- gross, but the tablets totally clean it out. You can also replace the sipper tips and the bottles are dishwasher safe. I am pre-op, and love love love my bottle. I do hope I can use it post op!
  23. Thank you all for this info. I have been a little worried about this too. I have taken both Celebrex and steroids off and on for the last few years. I am hoping that once I loose the weight they will no longer be necessary. If your knee hurts, there is an injection called Synvisc that seems to help a great deal. You all may want to check into that. I believe there are several types- long lasting, etc. My father in law has used it for RA with excellent results in his knees. I am not sure if it works on other areas, but you could check with your doc. I do know it's expensive and has to be done in the office. All of the people that have had it, have loved it. Also, check to see how you can change your diet (not like it hasn't been changed enough). Sometimes eating gluten free helps.
  24. I used to drink a 12 pack of Diet Coke per day. I quit and switched to ice tea. I have been soda free for over 4 years, with the exception of 1 time. It gave me one of the worst migraines I have ever had (and I have a lot of them). I think it was the aspartame. Great if you can tolerate it, but the aspartame is poison for me. I also think it is the carbonation that is the issue for sleevers?
  25. I too have gone back and forth over the years. This spring, I finally decided it was time and it was the sleeve. I want the permanence of it. I have seen people gain weight back from both bypass and band. I think this is my best chance for success. Hopefully, this fall! When it is time, you will know it.
