12 days for me.....I don't know about you, but every minute I am awake I am thinking "sleeve." Work helps to keep me distracted, but I am sure my husband is DONE talking about it. Getting nervous!

I cancelled 3 years ago but it was for RNY and now I have the procedure I want and the Dr. I want.
The thing I found played tricks on me was the back and forth looking for signs.
My thought process: Is the quality of life I have worth having or are there things I may never do that I keep blaming on weight. Have I ever done it successfully and when I did was I happy? Did I gain it back? Am I the best me? ARe people who do this happy? Do the things that could happen based on weight outweigh the things that could happen with surgery (assuming complete compliance with Doc's orders)? And that makes my decision FINALLY kind of easy. Not the things I might go through...but the decision to do it.

Ok quick true story , after all pre op requirements were met ,no small task, about a week before surgery date I was getting nervous , wifey's negativity ,my fear ,pride and lots of other neg. emotions were getting the best of me. I sat down in my kitchen with my two therapists Ben and jerry to have a pint of chubby hubby and sort this out.Chair breaks, kinda explodes,in a second I'm on my back like a turtle on his shell , splinters in my back and ice cream everywhere.Pretty clear sign to follow through with surgery. That was 12/7/11 I am down 131 lbs and the only regret is not doing this sooner. Good luck on your journey and god bless you!

My doctor actually said the sublingual (under tongue) OTC B12's do the job faster than shots...which is quite cool. I then read the same thing online since it sounded crazy that a shot isn't better. So you can just get them at the drugstore. They're in the same bottle as the the pills but are teeny sweet pills that melt away under the tongue. I had to to start them when my blood test showed I'm low on B12 (and D- which tends to go hand in hand I found out).

At my nutrition class I said I know about the whole 85% of stomach removed yada yada but how much volume does a "regular" stomach really hold.
She says that after surgery I'll be able to eat 3-5 oz. at a meal, then eventually 5-8 oz. at about a year or so.
Most hold 67-135 oz. Say huh wh...huh..whatchu. wh.. wh.. huh..what???
    Yep ....
8 oz vs. 135 oz. how's that for a different perspective?
I'm still good- starting the liquid pre-op tomorrow. But, I'll tell you I was working that 67-135 at Longhorn yesterday. And loved every minute.
Now it's time to get serious and start my new life.
    with a 3 oz. stomach capacity..oy

I amazed at how little I can eat, still feel full, and not feel like I'm going to pass out. I feel, dare I say it, normal. I'm eating far less but I'm not lacking in energy. I honestly thought I wouldn't be able to get out of bed from lack of sustenance but I was wrong.

This is totally interesting to me. I'm hoping that I can have a smaller stomach as time goes by. It just goes to show how much food we ate that we didn't need. I want to always get a high nutritional value from my foods and not get a bigger stomach. It is doable. no more surgery for me. Yayyyyyyyyyyy! This works, so hang in there and make all the healthy eating and exercise transitions that's needed.

Tears of joy! Why are my emotions tied so closely to my weight??? I got on the scale today and it said 179! The last time i remember being happy with myself was almost 15 years ago when i was in the 170s. Still have 30lbs to goal but feeling so positive. I think my mom would be so proud of me!

The stomach is definitely the best place for these. Pinch up a bit of fat, and swiftly puncture, making sure the needle is all of the way in (until you can't see any part of the needle out of the skin). Going slow hurts! Then depress the med into the skin. The needle will most likely be a teeny, tiny 27 gauge...piece of cake

Am typing this from my hospiital bed, my surgery was about 12 hours ago. I was in a bit of pain with nausea but they have me on some meds for that. One incision is noticeably more sore and I feel Like I've been punched in the tummy and bruised. Other than that it is nowhere near as painful as I thought it would be. I'm finally on the losers bench!

I'm not your age but I'm filled with happiness at the idea of you getting to live your adulthood in good weight and health. (A teeny weeny bit envious too).
Good luck in finding buddies your age here-- I'm sure there are many!
P.S. I can't be my age without saying...be careful to follow Drs. directions... when you're young and carefree sometimes you're not as diligent w/Drs. orders. Excuse my advice.
