Ty, i feel wonderful! I have a very small amount of lose skin, which I attribute that to excersizing during the weight loss. I can wear short shorts and no one can tell there is a little extra skin there. I lost all my weight (80 lbs) in 6 months and 2 weeks....and I'm shocked that I have had no Hair loss, ZERO... as I fully expected it. Excersize is SOOOO important, when we are heavy, our fat supports our bones...when we lose the weight, we need to build muscle to now support those bones and tighten up that skin. I have a close friend who did the lap band, we lost close to the same amount of weight, she did not excersize at all, and just had 1 of 3 very painful surgery's to remove the excess skin. It really will make the diffrence...please excersize if your going to go through this....

Thank you i'm very proud because prior to surgery I did nothing but sit on my butt on the couch eating fried foods and soda pop. Now I actually look forward too my walks. We go to our high school track and while me and hubby walk kids run and play so we all get exercise...the sleeve is the best thing that I've done not just for me but for my family too

I am one week post op. I feel very well. I went in the morning of surgery and had my IV placed,, met with the surgical team for last minute questions and they walked me through what to expect. A catheter was placed and another IV after I was asleep. No drains.
Some discomfort with movement after surgery but not really painful. Up and walking that evening. I was kept overnight and began sipping fluids the next day. Clear Liquids (jello and broth) for lunch and then was monitored as to how well I tolerated these. I went home later in the afternoon the day after surgery. Since being home I have no problems, the discomfort is getting better every day. I do nap each day and keep up my fluids and Protein. My husband was home with me for the days following surgery. I will return to dr office in three more days for follow up. You will do fine and we are there to support you every step of the way.

^^^This is totally me, and maybe why it has been so effortless. I do stay away from simple carbs, but I have tasted things. Many sweets are too sweet for me now, but I never had a love affair with them before. If the kids have dessert, I may have a taste. I have had some fried foods, but again, not a meals worth. The only thing that has bothered my stomach was lobster bisque. I had that early post op and I'm thinking it was probably the fat content. It's likely made with cream and it was just too rich so early post after being on such a strict diet for the prior month. Also, dense raw veggies like radishes and carrots sit like a lead weight.

Nothing bothers me either and that worries me. I am not the chocolate lover I used to be. I am not the bread enthusiast that I was. But I absolutely love juice! I can eat about 4 oz.of Protein at a time and feel comfortably full. I am 3 months out and down about 20 lbs (not counting presurgery loss). I took a couple of weeks off from exercising because I had a family emergency. I plan on resuming my activities tomorrow. I also took time from this board and I know that wasn't a good move. I need the support from all you guys :-)

My NSV is getting off of my blood pressure medicine and giving clothes away as I change sizes. Before when I dieted (I've lost 120 pounds and 90 pounds - gained it back each time) I saved the clothes knowing I'd probably need them again. Yesterday - they were donated to the Humane Society Thrift Shop. YaHoo.

This thread didn't get nasty till your second post. Responses on this site are for the most part clearly intended to help others avoid problems. Sometimes a post can be right to the point and a little tough to hear. Your response to well intended advice, which you labled as criticism was way over the top. In all your courses while pursuing a law degree I guess you missed some basic life lessons about courtesy, and manners. You are posting on a weightloss support site, not fighting your opponent in court. Anyway enjoy your diet coke.

Just go slow. I'm 8 weeks out and can tolerated carbonate drinks fine but choose not to have them. I was told to let drinks like that sit and go flat before drinking. Its all about the bloating and stretching. So...if you need it, well, drink it just ever that once you start and realize u can tolerate its VERY easy to continue and try even more next time. We've taken a huge risk in having surgery to screw it up and not get full benefit! Good luck!

You really truely have to overlook people like this. First mistake is the pregnancy comment. If you don't know, you don't open your mouth. We had this discussion at work this morning!! Secondly, after she stuck her foot in her mouth, she should have left well enough alone and turned around and walked away like a whipped pup.
Some people do not have filters. Some do but the wrong stuff still makes it's way thru.
    Unfortunately.

I don't think we can get over it, so to speak. I know that even after losing almost 200 lbs, I sure didn't. Lots & lots of reasons why a lot of us tend to have a hard time accepting compliments -- at least ones that deal with our physical appearance -- and especially physical appearance related to body. E.g. at my highest weight, if someone complimented my hair - fine. I didn't relish it, but I was ok with it. Someone complimented an outfit - totally uncomfortable. Someone complimented something odd (I once had someone tell me I had nice toes) - awkward, but not in an uncomfortable way, more in a "weirdo..." kind of way.
I shared once that people are noticing something is different about me, but maybe they can't quite place it. So I'm getting scrutinized a bit. And I'm really not comfortable with the attention. I hate people looking at me. I really do. I do everything I can to avoid any kind of spotlight.
That's my personality. It's part just who I am, and part what I learned after years & years of being MO. We are the sum of our experiences, so everything we've dealth with as O/MO folks has helped mould who we are.
I mean - if someone is complimenting me, it's probably a joke, or mean-spirited. At least that's what got in my head. Or maybe they felt sorry for me. Or wanted their good deed of the day. There's no way they could actually be sincere.
If people are complimenting your weightloss, it's really noticeable. Normally if people think maybe, or she seems a little... they don't say anything, because how awkward would it be if they were wrong? Most people only feel comfortable saying anything once it's pretty much undeniable. So in that sense, it's a good thing.
A smile, and a "Thanks, that's really sweet of you to say" or "Thanks, I've been trying hard so I'm glad you noticed" (sincere or not) is all it takes. Just practice it, and it will become pretty automatic.
