  2. Banded on May 25th with a starting weight of 234. Current weight is 208. I am 5'3 and last year I weighed 262. I lost some weight on my own, but I started to gained it back, so I decided to end the yo-yo cycle. I have had only one fill so far. My decision to get the band was based on my desire to live a healthy lifestyle. I wish you the best on this journey.
  3. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one with Bubble Gut....just had my first fill today...8weeks post-op

  5. Welcome to my world... I had surgery on 5/25, Ive lost a total of 25lbs. I gained about 3 when I started solids, but my surgeon didn't feel that I needed a fill since I did lose 4lbs. Went on vacation and gained 3, but since then I have lost about 6. Next visit is scheduled for Monday... thinking I may need a fill. I get full pretty quick, but I get hungry in 3hrs. Still working out and making smart food choices, guess it's all about patience now... Stay strong, we will make it through this!!!
  6. I bought some equipment from our local thrift shop and I joined Curves..its very low impact and easy. (30 minutes)
  7. Haven't forgotten you...came home to a broken air conditioner, couldn't find my charger then our plumbing was clogged. Just now settling down. Taking pics tonight.

  10. Welcome...I researched the process online first and found a local lap band surgeon. Registered for a consultation. Met with doc and nutritionist to discuss procedure, risks and benefits. Discussed insurance coverage and additional cost. Talked things over with family. Prayed!!! Received approval letter from insurance. Scheduled surgery, started pre-op diet (2 weeks before surgery). Registered at hospital and completed blood work and EKG. Had surgery, another 2 weeks of liquids. Then mushies, soft foods and on to solids. Didn't need a fill at second Dr visit. Whew..hope this helps.

  13. Hello... I was banded 5/25. I too had a hiatal hernia and it took at least 7 or 8 days before I had an appetite. Today was my second dr. visit and I didn't need a fill. So far things are going great. Eating without any trouble at all. I haven't tried any tough meats like ribs or steak, just ground beef, turkey, chicken and fish. I hope all continues to go well with you... Stay Strong!!
  14. Officially started my exercising routine.... I started curves today. It looked pretty simple at first... but man!!! I am really out of shape. The 80 year old woman next to me, put me to shame. It took a while, but I think I got it now. Sitting at home, thinking about how my life has changed over the last few weeks. No more pigging out with my friends, no more sitting around eating and watching tv. I am truly loving my Life right now. Dr. appointment tomorrow, not really looking forward to getting a fill, maybe I won't need one.
  15. We decided not to go out until I could eat solids. My nutritionist gave me a cute a little plate to take with me when eating out... it really helps to keep my portion size right.. She also suggested that I use a calorie counter website to help.. (MyFitnessPal.com) this has been a real help. all I have to do is put in the name of the food and it calculates the calories... We plan to go out again this weekend and we are going on vacation to Tunica, MS and Memphis, TN next week... Can't wait!!!

  17. My surgeon found a hiatal hernia, but he repaired before placing the band.... wow I'm so sorrry to hear that you couldn't the band... but remember, everything happens or doesn't happen for a reason... stay strong!!
  18. Well today was the beginning of solids for me.. I started my day off with a whole wheat muffin and scambled eggs... then a little taco soup... My husband and I have not been out since April... Today we went to see "That's My Boy"... it was so funny. I wasn't even tempted to eat some of his HUGE bucket of popcorn... later we went out to On the Border... I had the grilled fish tacos, refried beans and grilled veggies. I decided not the eat the taco shells, just had the fish and veggies... everything went down nicely with no problems. I was full after one taco and a spoon of beans... the hardest thing was not drinking while eating...but other than that, I had a great time... life goes on!!!
