ChooseToChange got a reaction from MinaT in Food Question
Vitamin Water zero is the only flavored water my nut and trainer all because my mew stomach is sensitive to splenda; which is what most waters are flavored with. VWZ uses Stevia.
Fage Greek Yogurt 0% has a decent Protein to carb ratio. The others are crap when it comes to Protein.< /p>
Remember protein first!!!! Limit your use of yogurt once you are off smushies; same with oatmeal.
If you want to flavor your greek yogurt get the sugar free Torani syrups (this is the only product i use that still uses splenda) I bake with it too.

Hi there Tonileebre! As you can see below I am rocking my sleeve and going on 11 months. My High was 410 and today I am at 260. I am even thinking for my height and stature I may not have far to go. I just consulted a plastic surgeon and they said I have about 30 lbs of skin and "stuff" they will have to remove surgically. So that being said I'm really closer to 230 and my goal is 200. I will be posting new befores and nows after my photoshoot this weekend!
Do it for you! Your worth it!

I swear by the myfitnesspal ap and online site. My surgeon actually uses my profile to follow my progress since I went out of state for my surgery. I am now 8 months out and I find myself in the 1000 calorie a day range. Then it takes exercise out of your daily intake as well. Most days I sit between 800 and 1000 after exercise calories.
Just remember.... Protein first, veggies second and you won't have room for more after that.
If you want to learn more tips and tricks from an 8 month-er that has learned a lot send me a message. I am also a skype coach that helps with menu planning and support via phone, skype and in person here in Tampa.

I just rode my first coaster in 12 years! I am 9 months out, but it took me that long to be able to fit in the seat! No problems with anything on this end unless you count the major rush that made me ride Manta at Seaworld 5 times!
    Have Fun!

I order preop too. I would happily send you the ones I have left. Chike was too sweet for me and unjury was too gritty. These are the two most popular.
You will see in my other posts that I LOVE LOVE LOVE smoothie King Gladiator Vanilla! I would be happy to ship you a sample and I am also able to purchase and ship to you from my local smoothie King if you like it. (45 grms of Protein, 180 calories, 1 carb... can be mixed with Water and fruit or my fav unsweetened almond milk)
Since learning so much about my diet in the last 8 months I am now a clean-eater as well. I do my best to stay away from splenda or artificial sweeteners.
Arbonne has a great line of nutritional that are gluten free, no artificial sweeteners and follow our needs. It's the only chocolate Protein that McSleevie can handle and enjoy.

ChooseToChange got a reaction from Chimera in Confused With Post Op Diet
I was put on mushies on my day 7 post op apt. I slowly added things one by one until I started getting adventurous again with food.
By week 3 I was at about 5 bites of soft solids like fish and broiled chicken cut chicken salad size.
I am 8 months post op and I average 15 bites per solid meal and about 16 ounces when I have my shakes.
If you want some ideas for mushies and other soft foods to graduate to check out the world according to eggface blog. She is fantastic and even though I fancy myself a pretty innovative cook she is my foodie mentor. I do change some of her ingredients because I no longer use milk or soy products.

    Ky,
I know exactly how you feel. My high was 410 and I am just about to hit the 300 mark by new years (fingers crossed). I have been losing consistently and the only place I feel different is in my clothing. I was a 26/28 at surgery and now i'm a 22 on the bottom and 18 on the top. I am extremely happy with my progress and wouldn't trade it for the world. I just wish I felt different naked in front of the mirror.
Everyone, keep up the good work and Happy Holidays!

Get liquids down! Protein and Vitamins can wait until u are less swollen. The drinkable Soups are awesome. When you can start eating take it slow, chew well and avoid carbs like the plague. fruit is great but use sparingly. And check out the world according to eggface blog. ChooseToChange got a reaction from jenni_867 in Hiccups??
Hiccups tell me that my sleeve is full. It how I know not to over eat my sleeve and feel crappy. Once a hiccup comes during a meal I am done.
Just to give you a mental picture. There is a point in your esophagus that it kinda splits off. The esophagus goes to the stomach and the trachea goes to the lungs. There is a little flap over the top of the trachea that prevents food from going into the lungs. When something gets stuck on the top of the flap your body hiccups to get it off the flap so you can breathe normally again. Think of it as air pushing up the lid so it can open.
When my sleeve is full it backs up into my esophagus and hinders the trachea until my sleeve digests some of the food below it.
Kinda weird but hey at least I have a clue now. My stomach was never full with clues before VSG!

Is your body telling you to stop? I hiccup when I'm full. Listen to ur body. If that doesn't work u may have to count your calories.

ChooseToChange got a reaction from GreginMI in Telling people at work about my surgery
I am excited that I have the full support of my coworkers. They are all assisting with my pre-op diet and being extra careful to not bring all the junk around so I'm not tempted in this difficult time of not eating while having a big stomach. More support is better and people always wonder and ask questions about it. I'm excited to educate them. I work in a hotel with two restaurants and the exceptional DoubleTree cookie so as you can imagine it's a bit rough being around food all the time. My chef even offered to make me custom meals if I brought him recipes and dietary needs. If you don't let people in how will you know if they have something to offer your struggle. That's a choice each of us make and I'm excited to say its a great big thumbs up for me. If your in the Tampa area stop in for a bariatric meal courtesy of Chef Juan Villasenor and Food and Beverage Director Michael Pagliarli!
