I went to the Doctor today and purposely chose not to weigh until that visit. Well, I've lost 22 lbs since surgery on August 20! I've never lost that much weight in such a short time! I'm excited about the future! So... Excited!

Every year our choir takes a retreat to a quaint nearby town with boutiques. Boutiques don't carry large sizes so I just look at the clothes and sigh. I want to be able to go in and try on EVERYTHING that catches my eye. I've already bought a size 6 dress for my 40th High School Reunion next year. This old lady is gonna be CUTE!

Well, I didn't make goal. I weighed in today at 197.
HOWEVER -- I did achieve a previously unidentified goal -- I didn't freak out or start my negative self-talk when I went through a 4-week stall at the 200 lb mark. I just continued to eat right, drink my liquids, exercise and I allowed the process to happen.
Am I losing as fast as I'd like - NO; am I stressed about it -- NO.
I feel great and I am healthier and happier than I've been in years. I will reach my ultimate goal -- but the time line is adjustable.
I've joined the Halloween Challenge, my first 5K is on 9/22, I am in Onederland and I've reached the Century Mark, and I am increasing my liquids to 1 gallon a day-- All is well this Labor Day Weekend.

Giselle3264 reacted to Queen of Crop in 10 Months, 80 Lbs And Just Ate Noodles For The First Time!
A few people have told me it's helpful to see what other people are eating (I agree!) so I have posted a few photos of some of my meals on this Sunday's blog. I am so happy to have had noodles (Saimin, a popular dish here in Hawaii) twice this week. First time my tummy allowed that to happen after 10 months and 80 lbs. Also I am so happy that I could only eat a little, but it was enough! AND I lost another lb this week too....
Hope everyone had a good week!

I waited 6 weeks before I started sit ups. It didn't make me sick just a little sore at first but all that worked its way out in a couple of days. Of course I eased into my exercise since I hadn't done a lot since I quit playing football. The skin is a little loose but nothing out of the ordinary. It has tightened up since I started exercising. Hope it continues to improve. I am flattered about the comments. Hottie and cute has never been used as descriptive words when people are talking about me. I have always been the funny fat guy. I can get you laughing but have never been much to look at but I appreciate the kind words. This journey is about getting healthy so I might live into retirement age not about looking good that's just extra gravy! No pun intended! If I have some loose skin it won't bother me because i have been carrying around another grown person around my waist for years now so it can't be much worse than that right? The biggest accomplishments is I'm off my Metformin totally with diet controlled blood sugar and my sleep apnea is much improved. You can actually sleep in the same house with me now and not be up all nite from my snoring! I got another 107 lbs to lose so this is just the beginning of the journey but I am motivated because I know that this is working and I am finally seeing results. I use to be hungry all the time and even with strict diet and exercise with a trainer the scale would barely move. Now the scales move everyday or so. I recommend the Premier Protein shakes. They taste good and fill me up. I drink 3 of them a day and have about 2-3ozs of Protein based meal for supper i.e. chicken breast, tuna, fish, eggs, etc. this has worked for me so sticking with it! Good luck everyone on this marathon! I call it a marathon because I didn't put the weight on overnight and it is not going to come off overnight but it is has been the easiest diet to stick to and I have been dieting since I was a kid. I just hope that I can be a motivation to others like so many on this forum before me was a motivation to me! Good luck and God Bless!

The one thing I have read on here is you must try to get to your calorie goal. That could hold you back or stall you. You know what and I have always said this, "You can change being fat, ugly you can't change." Did your husband have issues with you having the surgery that you know of?

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such an emotional break... I know how you feel because I was feeling the same way just last week. It felt like the whole world was crumbling around me... I lay awake and cried most of the night last night praying for God to show me a sign that I was doing the right thing for me and my family.... this morning when I woke I felt refreshed in my decision.... God won't put anything on you that you can't handle.... he's always there to guide you, he brought you and me to this forum so we wouldn't face this alone. I worried about not making it in surgery too.... but I would rather face a small % complication rate with surgery rather than knowing with 100% certainty that if I don't have it obesity health problems will kill me. Chin up.... wipe your eyes, we are here for you!

My surgery was June 19th, so I'm close to the same point as you. As a rule, I don't "snack"...at least not in the pre-surgical sense of the word. My typical day looks like this:
Breakfast (7-8am) - 16 oz chocolate Muscle Milk lite (200 calories, no sugar, and 30 grams protein)
late morning "meal" (10am) - 1/4 cottage cheese, or 2 oz tuna, or 2TBSP hummus and 6-7 baby carrots
lunch (noonish) - 1/4 cup fat-free cottage cheese (45 calories, 8 grams protein)
1/4 cup tuna salad (made with fat-free miracle whip) - 78 calories, 10 grams protein)
    afternoon "meal" (3-4pm) - 8oz powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth (80 calories, 20 grams protein), or similar
dinner - 2 oz dense Protein ("meat") (between 50-80 calories, 6-10 grams protein)
1/4 cup veggies (next to no calories, no real Protein value...just for variety)
    evening "meal" (8pm) - Gelatein 20 (high-protein "jello"...90 calories, 20 grams protein)
You'll see....I focus highly on protein, averaging between 75 and 90 grams per day. The more protein you consume, the "fuller" you will feel...particularly if you spread it out over the course of the day/evening. I keep my carbs below 30 grams/day, with rare exception. (And please don't panic...the things I listed out above are just an example of the variety of things I may eat, on any given day. The calories and protein intake run roughly the same, however, regardless of the actual combination I choose.)

So 1.4 lbs to lose this week. Please, please, please I want to make it. Good luck everyone during our last week of this challenge. Let's really push it to finish strong no matter our end results.

I totally understand. I have followed every single rule that they have set for me. Getting sleeved should not mean the end of all the things that made us happy. I can deal without the grease and junk food. I get that it will get me nowhere, but caffeine, COME ON doc!!! I'm not going to OD on it when the only time I consume it is through coffee. Funny story (speaking of condescending)....I asked my NUT when I could start having the occassional glass of wine. She literally looked down her nose at me and said, "We will talk about that at your next appointment, but you must remember that alcohol is nothing but empty calories." I wanted to look at her and say, "well so is Water, but you sure want me guzzling 64 oz of that crap a day!" Besides, I don't think there was ever a time in my life where I drank a beer because of how HEALTHY it was. DUH!!

hi there - sorry you are not feeling so well - do you already have a date for WLS, did you need to find out if ins. was covering you?
I am glad your boyfriend is supportive
your mom, like many other moms is probably concerned about you having surgery, worried stuff like that
sounds like you really want/need the sleeve. don't let mom or anyone try and change your mind. Its your body, your life and your decision
i wish i knew more about you - your profile says you don't know your b'day, age, height - i always think this is so funny, you just haven't filled that info out yet - in time right?
    where do you live?
do you have any other family, anyone else you could try and talk to
there are often local support groups that would offer help from other post op sleevers, and pre sleevers to be like you
there is a wealth of information and friendships to be made in support groups
write some more details about yourself, so we can know you better - and can talk
this board is terrific for questions and answers, we're all nice and would love to have you as a new friend - you're not alone
    hope you feel better soon
    take care

Wow that is crazy.... they made me take a pregnancy test an hour before surgery and said there have been people that they have had to tell, like you. I know there must be so many emotions. I can only imagine as I think back to both of my surprise pregnancies. All I know is that God is always good and knows what He is up to. I am sure that His timing is perfect and if you have asked yourself if you should do this right now.... you have your answer. I will be praying of you to have peace and comfort as your process what all of this means for you and your family.

Hey Kiki we were sleeved the same day and have lost almost the same amount of weight. The difference? I did NOT lose 18 pounds the first week. It was 5 immediately and then stall. The next week 6 then stall for days. This pattern has continued each week. My body stops and adjusts to the loss. And that's what you're doing now which is why we're in the same place. Different pattern but same result. 20 pounds in less than 2 months. Yay us!

Giselle3264 got a reaction from misslisa810 in Discouraged With Your Weight Loss?
I've read so many posts from people who are discouraged with their weight loss because they're comparing themselves to others on the forum. No, we shouldn't do that, but we ALL do. I'm hoping this will help. Instead of looking at just the number of pounds someone has lost, look at the PERCENTAGE of their original body weight they've lost. For example, someone who weighed 400 pounds and lost 100, has lost 25% of their body weight. Great job! But if another person weighed 260 pounds and loses 65 pounds, they've also lost 25% of their body weight. That's also a great job!
Yes, gender, age, and biochemistry also matter. But hopefully this will help you put things in perspective. I try to remember this when I'm comparing myself to someone else. Continued success to you!

Christi, you are so right to look at your relationship with food at this point. I completely understand your statement about food being the highlight to your day. I still struggle with that because eating a big meal with all my favorites is no longer my comfort. The key for me is realizing a REAL friend would not make me unattractive, insecure, and unhealthy in so many major ways. As I progress, some things taste SO good, but only for two or three bites. That was always true but I continued to eat past that point. Now I don't. With this control, food is being put back in it's rightful place. Good luck to you!
