Bariatric journey Multiple procedures Since 2019 Preparing for surgery

Everything posted by kah1213

  1. Ok I did it. Took the before pics. I don't even recognize myself in these pictures. O.M.G. I don't want to ever be back here again.
  2. Hi Maeg. The first step is probably to attend an info session. I was able to do one online, which was convenient. Then I met with my surgeon to discuss options. Next was a slew of appointments and tests (psych, nutritionist, pulmonary, endocrinologist, cardiologist, sleep study, endoscopy, etc). I was not required to do a 6 month supervised diet like some others here. I would say read read read. I did a ton of research and I really feel like I'm going into this with my eyes open knowing what to expect (as much as possible.) My surgery is next week! Good luck.
  3. Omg I'm glad u posted this. I was just thinking about a before photo. I haven't taken one yet. I think I'm subconsciously scared to even see it which is why I'm procrastinating. I am getting banded next week. Somehow we can trick ourselves into thinking we're not as fat as we really are...but pictures don't lie. Good luck. You've inspired me to take a before pic tonight yikes!
  4. Are you getting enough protein? Maybe that can help?
  5. I think it's totally common. There's a fine line between feeling confident (good thing) and being cocky and stuck up (bad thing). I think you can be happy for your friend, but keep it real and tell her when she needs to take it down a notch.
  6. That's great. Happy for you!
  7. I'm having SILS on may 29. I'll keep you posted!
  8. Not sure. I usually access the group using my phone too.
  9. Try zappos.com or Nordstrom.com because they gave really good online return policies. You could buy a few different sizes and then just return the ones that don't fit
  10. Thanks Rae. Love hearing stories like this! Congrats on your loss do far.
  11. I'm nervous and excited. I'm SO ready for this change.
  12. Anyone having the band with plication? I am...just asking!
  13. Same w/ me, but I've decided to go on liquids a few days before just to jump start. We'll see. I'm jealous you're a week before me! Lol
  14. Welcome! Good luck. Are you on a liquid pre op diet! My surgery is may 29!
  15. 500 cals per day?! Wow. Good luck!
  16. I am thinking I might try to go to the movies over the weekend when I am on liquids to keep my mind off food...so I will have to see 200 movies LOL
  17. I'll start liquids on 5/24 probably...not happy to be on liquids over memorial day weekend!
  18. I only have to do the liquid diet for 1 day before surgery, but I am planning to do it for a week anyway. 10 more days and we'll be banded! I have heard from otheers here that the pre-op liquid diet is much harder than the post-op liquids.
  19. I'm on May 29th too! YOU CAN DO IT! I totally know about feeling like you may fail, but we need to stay positive and I know we'll BOTH be successful.
  20. Hey banded plication peeps! What's your recovery been like? My surgery is on a Tuesday and I'm wondering if I can go back to work (desk job) on Friday or if that's too soon? I'm trying to save some vacation days for later in the year. Thanks in advance.
