  1. I was wondering how you were feeling! I"m glad everything's going well! "Weigh" to go!
  2. Hi! I live in Saskatchewan & was wondering if you arranged things for your surgery by yourself? I'm just wondering if the cost was less than going thru Weight Loss Forever in Saskatoon? They charge $9000 & I'd have to pay my flights unless I upgrade to a different package.

Thanks, & glad you're doing well!

  3. Check out the Total Vertical Gastric Plication...forum, it's at the bottom the list of different boards.
  4. I know what you mean. I never mentioned to hubby cuz I figured if I wasn't approved than there'd be no point. I asked him his opinion last night, said I didn't want to hear 'you don't need it' or other stuff, just what he'd think if I wanted to do it. All he said was 'we can't really afford it'. I told him that I knew that but what I've spent over the last 20 years probably cost that much & I don't want to spend the next 20 trying every pill & crap that comes out to try to lose my weight. My mom, aunts, grandma...are all overweight & I look at them & think there's no way I want to be feeling like this when I'm their age. I'm turning 40 (eek!!!!) this year & it's time to do something permanent.

I emailed Caralee but haven't heard anything. If I go ahead, I'll do the credit line thing as well. That'd be cool if there were a few of us from WLF at the same time. Did they give you a price with a facilitator going?

  5. Dr. Watkins: I, like MS Lisa, have about 50 pounds to lose & have been looking into VSG. I have been approved by LIMARP (Dr. Pompa) in Mexico, but now that I have seen this thread, I'm very interested in more information. I would be self-pay, I am Canadian and do not qualify for any WLS as I'm not considered morbidly obese. Is there a website or email address where I can get more information on the cost of the procedure? I have no major co-morbidities, just GERD.
  6. I just got an email saying I was approved but don't know what happens next. I replied with my questions, but since it's the long weekend I won't hear anything for a while. Do they forward paperwork? Is there medical tests to be done here? Do I book a date? I asked for the full price list to compare what it costs to use their patient facilitator. Any extra info would be great!
  7. Hey, did I see you say that you have a date? I finally got an email from Caralee at WLF & she said I'm approved. What do I do now? I replied to her but since it's the long weekend I haven't heard and am curious. All she said was that I was 100% approved. Do they send information, do I call the clinic to book? Arg, as soon as I read it I had the "maybe I shouldn't, I don't really have the money & should just do it myself!'. Now that I've been okay'd, I'm gonna talk to my hubby & tell him about the surgery & that I really want to have it. I haven't mentioned it because I thought if I don't get approved it won't matter.

  8. Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank everyone for all the good information on these boards! I've been lurking for about a week & finally decided to post. All my paperwork has been forwarded to the doctor in Mexico & now it's a waiting game to see if I'm approved! I started a 'liquid' diet yesterday just to see if I could do it, 1 1/2 days in & it's not bad. I was going to go to Starbucks on my lunch break, I usually get a frappachino w/skim milk or a carmel macchiato w/skim milk, but on my way I decided I really didn't have any interest in one!! I'm trying to stick to Slim-Fast, Activia yogurt, eggs, lowfat string cheese, V8... Most of the posts have such a good vibe & everyone seems to be happy with their decision (at least the one's I'm choosing to read!) I look forward to becoming a 'sleeve sister' soon!!

sleeve - I still haven't heard! :frown1: The waiting is driving me crazy! I started the process with WLF, Caralee & Tammy said they'd put a rush on my paperwork since they lost it the first time, but nothing! I attended one of the online meetings in July & that's what made me decide that I wanted to go through with the surgery. Fingers crossed! :biggrin2:
  10. I was wondering how long it took from the time your information was sent to your doctor of choice to approval & a surgery date? I've sent my medical history to the doctor & am waiting to hear back to see if I'm a candidate. Waiting is crazy, the more I read, the more I want to get the surgery booked & get on with my life! Any info?

It does make me feel better, for the most part I've read good things. I don't think I'd hesitate to use Dr. Aceves either. We'll see! sleeveorbust - I'll let you know when (if) I get a date, it would be so great to have someone down there who's familiar with everything!

I'm thinking Dr. Pompa, simply because I can get a pkg that includes everything, airfare, hotel, a facilitator...I won't have to worry about anything. Although there seems to be more posts regarding other doctors!

Thanks so much for greetings! I don't have a date yet, I just found out my info was lost in cyberspace! Ack, so now I have to resend it all. But on the plus side, they'll put a rush on my application. I would love to be able to go in September, I'll keep you posted! I look forward to hearing how everyone is doing! Good luck & ((hugs)) to everyone who gets to start their journey!
  14. I'm going through a business called "Weight Loss Forever" in Saskatoon, they deal with Dr. Pompa, they do all the arrangements, flights, hotel....& will send a facilitator who has had the surgery. I'm worried because my BMI is at the minimum where they will do the surgery. I also don't have any of the MAJOR co-morbidities. Just GERD, back problems, asthma... I need to lose in the 60 pound range but have tried everything & I do mean everything! So I'm really hoping that I'll get the okay. I've seen a few on the boards that had about 70 or so to lose, so I'm 'hopin'!! :)

    Need advice

I'm sorry there's so many of you struggling! We'll be your cheerleaders, because I know if it happens to me, I'll be the first one to complain! I too was under the impression it wouldn't be as much of a struggle, I know there's always work to do & no magic cure, but come on, you're missing part of your body! Good luck & ((((hugs))))))!

What a holiday gift! It will really be a 'new year' for you!

    Getting my Sleeve Aug 30th

Congrats, you're so lucky to be starting your journey!!
  18. Thanks for the message, I wish I was going soon! I haven't heard anything yet. How long did it take from when you sent your information until you were approved & got a date? I'm so nervous that Dr. Pompa won't agree to surgery, then I don't know what I'll do!

  19. Yah, another Canadian on here! I'm waiting to see if I qualify & would be having surgery with Dr. Pompa too! I'm hoping for October, but have no idea what kind of schedule she's on. All my information has been sent to her & now it's just a waiting game! When were you hoping to get in for you surgery? It sure would be nice to have someone from the boards be down there at the same time!! Good luck & let me know if you hear anything!
  20. Hi! I'm considering Dr. Pompa as well & just waiting to find out if I'm accepted! It's good to hear from another Saskatchewanian!! I'd love to hear how you're doing now & how long it took for you to get a surgery date!

  21. Since I'm guessing your weight loss will be pretty noticeable (I've seen some post with people losing 20+ pounds in a few weeks) I think you'll have to come up with some kind of story because everyone will be noticing how good you look! :thumbup1:
