  1. I have BCBS Anthem. It took less than a week to get approved. BCBS says 6 months, From the beginning of the process to time I was banded was 3 1/2 months.
  2. Steel cut oats are great and have more nutritional value than rolled outs.

    Needing A Bit Of Encouragement

I agree with everbody's comments. Be patient and throw the scale out the window. What's wonderful is going into your closet and trying on stuff you didn't ever think you would wear again. It's an awesome feeling.

    40Lbs Gone Pics

You go girl!! You look great. I've lost 50 lbs and have another 50 lbs to go. I looked at some pictures that where taken this week end and man what a difference. In group pictures I used to stand on the back row. Now I'm front and center and excited to see them. Good luck on the rest of your journey. Hippiechick74

    Anyone from Jacksonville???

Congrats on your journey!! You made a fantactic choice when you went to Dr. Baptista. He is my hero. He is also a great general surgeon. About 2 1/2 months after my WLS I had a BAD case of acute appendictious and had to emergency surgery. Never been so sick in my life and I'm a breast cancer survivor. Good Luck!!

Am I Nuts To Consider Having My Band Removed??

RavenClaw779 first of all congradulations on beating breast cancer. I am also a breast cancer survivor. Diagnosed in 10/10. However I didn't get banded until 7/20 of this year. Chemo reaks havic on your digestive tract. I had a lot of the same issues and wasn't banded. Don't you love steriods!!!! I'd be patient contact your WSL and discuss these issues. Take to heart some of the advise that was given from fellow posters. I was put on Tamoxafin and worried about getting weight off. Treatment put in into menopause. Since being banded I have lost almost 50 lbs. and wouldn't change a thing. Oh yeah I totally understand the bra thing. Hate them hate shopping for them. I find that my tight surgical bra is the most comfortable to wear. Bummer though since I lost weight I'll be shopping for bra's again soon. Good luck on your journey!!

    Alcohol

My doctor said it was OK after a month. He reminded me though not to forget the empty calories and everything low carb. I find beer to be to filling. I drink flavored vodka with crystal light pure. Have to be careful as it taste like punch and has snuck up on me.
  14. I've been shopping in my closet too!!! Isn't it great.....
  15. janleefran, I didn't mean to sound rude but, You probably won't get a lot of sympathy on this site. FYI....you will probably regret posting. I have a feeling this will be answered by many people. But good luck anyway.
  16. I have to say I do agree with the others. I'm assuming you are self pay. Not sure if your Doctor has had you consult with a psyhcologist. I know it is required for us to do this before we can have surgery. It is also required by the insurance companys that pay for it. Maybe if you talk to some you may be able to sort this out. I sure most everyone on this post has lost and gained weight a thousand times. If we where as fortunate as you and had willpower then we wouldn't be having this conversation today. Start living like you have already been banded. 3 meals aday, no more than a cup of food with each meal and no drinking for an hour. After you are banded if you don't chew very well and eat very slow, let me tell you that discomfort is no fun. I would think long and hard and do your research. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. But since you have money if you don't like it you can have it taken out. Right!!

    Anthem Bcbs Mo?

I have Anthem and I don't think you should have a problem with approval. I was banded on 7/20/12. My BMI was 42 and I have high BP.

Getting A Bad Feeling About Approval

Don't start worrying I think you will be OK. I have Anthem and knew upfront that I would have to pay for the nutrition class. I was approved and banded on 7/20/12.
  20. I am 2 months post op tomorrow and have no regrets.

    On The Other Side

Congrats!!! Welcome to the other side. Mine was a piece of cake as well. with each day I felt better and better. By my one week post op appt. I almost felt normal. FYI....the gas strips everyone talks about, they don't work. Heating pad and plenty of walking helps the best. Good Luck!!

    Ice Cream

Try Breyer's Carb Smart. I can only find vanilla, but it is good and real creamy. Add chopped nuts and sugar free caramel sauce, Yummy!!! Don't over eat on it though it is kinda rich in flavor and might upset your stomach if you eat to much. My doctor has me watch carbs.

    Constipation.....not!

Sometimes I wish that was my problem. Instead I have constipation. I don't think I know whats worse. Nuts seem to be my friend as far as that goes. Good Luck!!
