  1. Since you are new to the process, share all your information with your family memebers. I laugh when I here taking the easy way out. I even think I though it was an easy way at one time. Boy oh boy this is not easier. the more educated you become the better.
  2. Are any of these people smokers? My next door neighbor would say the same thing just diet and excersie. She smokes. I ask her from this minute on don't pick up another cigarette ever. She looked at me like I 2 heads. She got after me again saying bad things she heard about the band. I brought to her attention again the horrors of smoking. Have you seen the anti-smoking commercials? I just told her I'll take my chances. Smoking is a bad habit just like overeatting.
  3. You will find everyday is better than the day before. I'm 10 days post op and feel great. I also had a hiatal hernia repair.
  4. Good Luck!! FYI.....I'm 10 days post op and feel just about normal. Only had a short lived issue with gas. It is dreadful. Walk, Walk and walk some more. Heating pad helps. Just don't do what I did, I feel asleep with the heating pad on my stomach. Next morning I noticed a blister from the pad being on my stomach to long. LOL
  5. I had surgury on 7/20 and had my post op appt on 7/26. At post op I was told one more week with the clear covering. At that time I can take of the clear covering off and let the steri strips come off on there own.
  6. I wouldn't think so. Maybe just unfill it. I got lap band after breast cancer. Have you been recently diaognosed? My prayers are with you. I'm 15 months out from my late chemo treatment. Stephanie
  7. One week post op and doing really well. I think I would be almost 100% but gas struck on Tuesday . I think I could walk to the moon and it woudn't help. Gas-x I'm not so sure about. But it will pass. I get to start soft foods tomorrow and regular food on 8/4/12. Had my first post op appointment yesterday and I am 7 lbs down. Lost 18 lbs pre op. Let me know how you are doing!! Have a fantastic weekend!! Stephanie
  8. I also have Anthem BCBS. You have nothing to worry about. Once your paper work is submitted you should be approved in 5 days. Mine was submitted on a Tuesday and they called my Dr's office on Friday. I found out on Monday. Good Luck!!
  9. Glad to hear thing went well congrats!!! It's my turn tomorrow. I hope I'm doing as well as you. Stephanie
  10. Do you by chance live in Jacksonville, FL? I do and I'm getting banded tomorrow 7/20 at Memorial Hospital. Dr. Baptista is my surgeon. Stephanie
  11. Hello Melinda in Florida!! Do live in Jacksonville? i recognized your Dr's name. I'm being banded on 7/20/12 by Dr Baptista. I'm so inspired by everyone's success. Stephanie
  12. Good Luck Momo20!! I'm right behind you in 3 days. Stephanie
  13. Also, when I had a scale and saw it going up up up.....It didn't make me go on a diet either. we know what are bodies are doing don't need a scale to tell us that.
  14. Hey Lupe!! My advise is to throw the scale away. The scale is the devil and will sabitoge all the hard work you have done. Try to concentrate on how you feel, look and how your clothes are fitting. One or two things would happen to me. I'd be on a real high feeling great, clothes are getting looser. Then I would hop on the scale. If that scale didn't read what I wanted to see. I looked at it as failure and would go eat. Save weighing in at doctors office. My band date is 7/20/12. I haven't owned scales in 8 years. Hope this helps!! Stephanie
  15. Clear liquids day 1-3, full liquids day 4-8, soft foods day 9-15. Day 16 and on ward regular food. Low carb and low fat. Like I said I was lucky. Since I had 2 abnormal EKG's for the first time in my life, I had to do a stress test but everything seems to be OK. Got released for surgery. I had breasr cancer last year that scared me so I decided this was what I needed to do. Now that there is a possibilty of heart diease on the horizen. I don't think I could be more motivated that I am right now. We all have to much life to live and I'm not wasting another minuite on this crazy merry go round.
  16. Since I have always be a volume eater I knew this was going a challenge. After a visit to my nutrisionist, I started a kinda low fat diet and low carb. My goal is to get to 30 grams or less. I wasn't 100% sticking to it but I worked on it. Now that I have gotten all that sugar out of me I'm not that hungry. Since I haven't been that hungry I decided to practice. I'm not alway's 100% percent with that either but, I have been eating slower and chewing alot. I'm amazed at how quickly I felt satisfied without eating a mound of food. I think before I continued to eat because it just tasted so darn good. I'm fortunate that I don't have a dreadful pre-op diet. I am having surgery this friday at 7:30 and only have to do Clear liquids on Wendsday an Thrusday. I have lost 14 lbs so far. Call me crazy but I think I'm going to start my pre-op early. Why not I've got to give it up anyway. At least until Wednesday I can eat if I am hungry. I will keep ya'll informed. Stephanie
  17. Good Morning!! I'm supposed to be banded on 7/20/12. Went and had my pre-op testing done on Monday, no problem. Went to my pre-op appointment with my surgeon to find out I had a abnormal EKG and a UTI. Had no clue about that. So now this need to be taken care of before I get medical clearance. Did this happen to any of you? Your input is greatly appreciated!! Stephanie
  18. I'm July 20th. 3 day liquid pre-op for me.
  19. Your welcome Jean.....I think this an additional tool needed to get through this. Even better it was written by someone that's been there done that. I think I was pretty well informed before but I was still a little anxious. There is so much to this process and I think I feel much better going into this now. Better get me some highlighters like carolinagirl. Thanks so much!!
  20. I am going to be getting banded on 7/20/12. And like everyone else, wondering about what's going to happen next. Well I decided to order Bandwagon and Bandwagon Cookery. I ordered on line on Thursday mid morning and had it on Monday. Folks......the book is a full of information for just about anything you what to know about Lap Band Surgery. Just thought I would share!! Best of Luck to Everybody!! Stephanie
  21. Breast Cancer did it for me. I already had high BP and cholestrol but that wasn't motivating enough. Looking in the mirror was hard. I was bald had lopsided boobs and a hugh body. Not to mention If I was any heavier I probably woudn't have been able to take care of myself (hygeine etc).
  22. Velvet...your a funny girl. My journey begins on 7/20/12. good Luck to ya!!!
  23. OMG!! I have heard of these issues. I just got my hair back after losing it due to chemo. This is probably the only thing I fear about getting this done. Being bald again is not an option. I guess I will have to protein overload and say lots of prayers.
