Congrats first of all!!!! You have a date set and you CAN do this. I think most of us went through a period where we amost chickened out. I can say personally at 2 weeks post op now that it's the best decison I could have made. I have tolerated all food very well... and yes I am on solid food already and doing fine with it. I used to have horrible acid reflux and that is completely gone now that I am losing weigh and the surgeon fixed my hiatal hernia. Unlike the band you really don't get stuck with the sleeve... you have no restriction point like you did with the band. Don't chicken out... you won't regret the surgery. Best of luck!!!!

As you make your pudding add a scoop or two of protien powder...you not only get a delicious treat but you get the bonus of getting in more protien. Win Win!!!

Drop the soda cold turkey... it's the only way to go. To help with the addiction I drank iced tea for a few weeks, that really helped me get rid of the soda addiction and after that it was much easier to drop the caffiene. I still have an iced tea from time to time but don't crave it or soda at all. Good luck, it's a hard addiction to drop, but my advice is to do it now before surgery. If you think it's hard to do it now just wait until you are struggling with your head and boddy after you have the surgery and you want to eat but your body won't let you.

The first two weeks are the worst... it WILL get better. Remember why you did this in the first place. It's not the easy choice, but it's a good choice. Yep, recovery SUCKS. Getting used to eating less is not easy... but give it a month, give it two months... you will be AMAZED at how much better you feel. There will days that you forget you were sleeved.. until you have a meal and get full with just a small amount of food. But then you will be satisfied. You will have had just a few bites of that corned beef sandwich that you so desire... you will have enjoyed it... and you will be full and happy. Hang in there!!!!

If you need fear... then you need to seriously fear that those 61 pounds that you have lost will be back on and then some with all of the extra calories from the beer. Fear that you will have went through a major surgery and failed yourself. It will be a total waste of a surgery. It's not worth it... I hope you are able to stop drinking and focus on the success you have had so far and on losing the last 28lbs to get to your goal. Good luck.

Both I and my wife had Hair loss with our weight loss. When it will stop?, well that's up to your body. Will is stop?, absolutely in it's own time. Here's an option, probably one that you don't want to hear, but an option none the less. I would take your NUT's advice and get it cut short so that it's less noticible. You have your entire life ahead of you to grow nice long blonde hair again. Here's my suggested twist on that though... since you have nice long hair, why not have it cut and donate it to an orginization like Locks of Love? There are plenty of children out there that are going through far worse that what you are going through right now. The emotional toll of them not having hair along with everything else going on with their body is a lot for them to deal with. At least that way you can feel good about someone being able to use your hair instead of it washing down the drain every morning when you shower. It's a new year and a whole new life for you post surgery, you might as turn this temporary change in your life into something wonderful for someone else. Just my 2 cents. BTW, I am in no way affiliated with this organization, it just came to my mind as something nice to do.

Gene1970 got a reaction from msreaina in ADDICTED TO DIET COKE
Coke was my biggest addiction!!! I stopped drinking them last May and now no longer crave them at all. I knew it had to stop and one night I decided that I was drinking the last soda that I would ever have. I transitioned to Iced tea for a few weeks so that I could at least get some caffiene which helped with not getting headaches from stopping. Once I had surgery I focused on Water and drink iced tea when I want something different. Good luck!!!

I have been worried about the same thing, as my hair has also always been thick and pretty and frequently complimented. But I decided this: I know it's coming so I'm donating the majority to Locks of Love before it gets too bad. Then once it gets thin, I'm going to rock wigs in every color of the rainbow, and learn how to tie beautiful scarves over my hair until it decides to grow back. Beauty is mostly attitude. Pretend you feel gorgeous, and eventually you'll start to feel gorgeous. When you get a compliment on ANYTHING, act arrogant (in a humorous way) and say, "Thanks, I am pretty awesome, aren't I?"
Hang in there sweets. You are still you, no matter what the outer shell looks like.

I am 5 weeks out and I have the same addiction sometimes weighing twice a day! But I know not to take it to heart. I have set a day a month that I take all my measurments and weigh in and that is the only day it counts.

I agree with the other guys. Any man I know wouldn't hold this against you whatsoever, unless he feels you went out of your way to hide it from him. Be proud of your progress and success and he will be proud with you. And if he's not, that should be a red flag to you.

Seriously? NO... NO... and NO!!!! You just had MAJOR surgery on your stomach. If a drink on your 21st birthday was important then you should have moved your surgery date out. Sorry to sound harsh but this is the second post in a week where someone felt that having a drink 1 was important.
