I never had them before surgery and now get them at least twice a month. I'm only 33. If anyone knows a reason why....I would love to hear.

I used Chu. I was self pay also. She's awesome. 11 months out, no complications, and very pleased. I highly recommend her.

Thanks, Neil. I enjoyed your post. Everyone is different with different doctors. Do what is best for you.
Diets do not work. This is a new way of life for all of us. Everything in moderation.
Don't worry, be happy.

shannon27 got a reaction from DDFinn in I Have Stopped Losing!
I'm in the same exact boat, ddfinn. Sleeved on march 7, have lost 60, and stuck on 159. Up a pound, down a pound, for the last month. Starting boot camp tonight. I want to get to 140.

shannon27 reacted to *susan* in Alcohol and 2 weeks post op!
Asking when it is safe to drink alcohol, eat a cheeseburger or anything does not mean one person is any less serious about this surgery than another. My best suggestion is always to follow what your surgeon advises you to do. Not what Jane, Jimmy, or Johnnie's surgeon advised them to do, because their surgeon doesn't know you! As long as you are following the guidelines set forth by your personal surgeon, you should do fine.
These forums are here for everyone, pre-sleeves, post-sleeves, veterans, etc. People come here for advice, support, sympathy, to see if others have experienced the same things they are, to vent, to learn, etc. Everyone should feel free to post without the fear of being attacked, ridiculed, accused of being a troll or anything else. I am so disappointed in the turn our forums have taken lately, so much negativity, so much of "my way is the only way", seriously, it just needs to stop. If you want to offer advice, that is fine. Do so, but do it in a positive, meaningful and respectful manner or simply don't respond at all and move on to the next thread. If you don't like someone's response, thank them, disagree in a positive, meaningful and respectful manner, or simply ignore their post altogether. If you can't respond to something without calling people ignorant, stupid, being the grammar police or any other names or violations of our forum rules, then please do not respond at all.
This has gone on long enough, members are leaving the forums because of this, people are afraid to post and it must stop NOW!
Thank you.

shannon27 reacted to NtvTxn in But I Do Wanna Be A Size 6
My first goal was to wear a size 8 - I am SURE you can imagine how I felt the first time I slipped into a size 6 and then a size 4!!!!!!!!! The first time a sales lady said something about how tiny I was.....I giggled inside and wanted to ask "Are you seriously talking to ME????" I had NO health issues, I fought to maintain 228 and knew as I got older, it would be more difficult. I also knew that eventually there could be health issues, if nothing else, bad knees, but in all honesty, vanity was my motivation to get this surgery and I am not ashamed of that and I would do it again!!!! It is fun to shop, it is fun to not be the biggest girl in the room....and occasionally be the smallest. My life is totally different, I love it!!

shannon27 got a reaction from allmyjoy in Labor Day Challenge 2012
Ok, last challenge was a bust for me. I lose very slowly - probably around .5 - 1 lb a week. I'm only 4 months out. But I desperately want to keep losing, so I'm going to continue pushing myself.

CW: 170.4
Goal: 160

shannon27 reacted to Spirit Fire in Is This A Problem For Anyone Else?
Soon after surgery I found that I was hyper-sensitive to the tremendous amount of food ads, tv shows, meals, and conversations that surround us each and every day. I had a choice to make: hide from life which my weight was already making me do OR particpate fully. Choosing to participate brings with it challenges. I don't ever want someone to eat differently or feel guilty because they are enjoying something that I choose not to have or that my sleeve can't tolerate. I have a friend who is glutten-intolerant and we now choose to meet at restaurants with glutten free menus, but we haven't changed our friendship or the way we talk with each other because of it. However, in the beginning, I had to learn what her boundaries were and now she is needing to learn what I am comfortable with. I have made a major change in my life and I can't expect everyone to conform to my needs, but I take responsibility for informing the people I care about what I need from them. Bigguy, Shangefan and a number of other posts had some wonderful insights. Your friend probably doesn't know how to approach the subject -- unless this has been his pattern with you over the years. He has to learn at the same time you are learning. I hope it doesn't cause an riff that can't be overcome.
