Lose-it I was also told no straws are to be used. I think you need to check with your doctor on this. Before surgery I always had a glass with a straw in my hand and was told no more. Could be why you are burping so much. I have terrible heart burn and I was told that drinking from a straw puts to much air in the stomach,

My diet will change to puree foods two weeks after surgery. And a month after surgery I'm pretty much back to normal with lots of chewing of my food.

Eyewonder I was told as long as I'm taking pain killer no driving. I will be able to drive when I'm off pain meds. Until than my husband and mother cart me around. Which isn't a whole lot. Not really feeling like being in the public yet. Still sore.

Ok we have talked about what kind of diet we were on before surgery. Now lets post what we are allowed to eat after surgery and when we are allowed to eat and how that went for you. The day of my surgery and the day after my surgery I was on clear liquids only. I drank apple cranberry juice that had to be deleted 1/2 & 1/2 per the doctor. Those two day went ok! I had to take small sips at a time. The doctor instructed that I use a medicine cup to drink from. I thought that was a good example to get my drinking sips correctly. Than on the third day I got to eat food. My diet called for breakfast 2oz. of cream o wheat very thin. Ate it 1/2 a tsp at a time. took me about 30 minutes to eat. I thought it went ok. Until I stood up to clean out the dishwasher and I got dizzy and nausea. Than I got afraid to eat. My mom came over during late afternoon so I tried to eat again. This time I was to eat a little more. Lunch was 2oz cream of chicken soup and 2oz. of yogurt. Here is what I did this time. I dipped my spoon in the soup and licked the spoon off. I ddin't put any thing on the spoon just dipped it and that went ok, I also ate my yogurt this way. I was suppose to have 2oz of soup and 2oz of pudding but I was not feeling hungry so I skipped supper. and of course I had to get in my 48-64oz of water.Which I'm sure I got the much water in. Now this is my diet for the next two weeks. So let us know what your diet consist of since you had surgery.

Today I'm a little sore but not to bad. Went to the store to get food for tomorrow. I get to eat finally! I had two days of clear liquids and tomorrow I get to have cream a wheat for breakfast. yugart and cream soup for lunch and for supper I get more cream soup and pudding. Now every thing is either sugar free or fat free. and that will be my diet for two weeks and than I get to eat pureed food I will tell you more what that is when I get there.

Had surgery today every thing went pretty good. I arrived at the hospital at 5:15 and was back home around 12:30. Every thing went really well. I have some discomfort in my stomach, I explained it as a 3-4 to the nurses for pain at the hospital. The doctor used blue dye in my stomach to make sure every thing was flowing okay inside my stomach. After every thing looked ok to her she glued me all back together and sent me to recovery. As soon as they got me half way awake I was up stairs drinking that nice thick barium shake for my next x-ray. Back down stairs to my room. I asked for a wet cloth to moisten my mouth because I had really bad cotton mouth. A few minutes later my doctor got my x-ray information and told the nurse to get me something to drink. I had a choice of broth, water or crystal light. I choose water. The doctor told the nurse to give me a regular glass of ice water and a little medicine cup to drink from. So you know those little plastic cups that come with liquid medicine at the store, maybe holds 2TBSP of liquid at a time. That is what I had to drink my water from so I would not take too big of a drink. I asked the nurse if I could use the rest room and of course in the recovery room here we don't have the rest rooms in the room so I had to walk down the hall. Walking down the hall was the best. It felt good to get up and move. After using the rest room the nurse walked me around the halls and than asked if I wanted to go home and of course I said Yes. So I went home walked around a little at home and took a nice 4 hour nap because I couldn't sleep last night and have been up for about 4 hrs now. I never had any gas pains but have been burping today which is not like me. Ok that is the best I can describe my day. If you have any questions please ask and I will tell you what my experince was. All I can say I hope every ones surgery goes as well as mine.

I'm heading in to surgery tomorrow and I was on the ensure with high protein per my doctor and I lost 13 lbs in two weeks. The high protein only comes in two flavors which are chocolate and vanilla but don't taste to bad at all.

I'm off to bed here soon, so I can get up way to early for me considering I'm a second shift person. I have to be at the hospital at 5:15 AM for a 7:15 surgery. My doctor put me on a two week liquid diet, which consist of: Breakfast : 1 ensure with high protein Lunch: 1 ensure with high protein Supper: 1 ensure with high protein I also can have sugar free popiscles, sugar free jello, crystal light, and beverage that is sugar free and has no fizz to it.

What is your pre op diet? Share what your doctor is having you do before surgery.

I have been drinking my high protein shakes now since April 18. I only have a few days left befor surgery. I have vanilla and chocolate and I didn't think they were to bad. The worse part was the smell and that was due to high protein. But at least it is almost over. I only have to wednesday! Than I have two days of juice and water and than we get to introduce me to cream soups, pudding and yogurts for 15 days. Oh I can't wait to have meat again! Could some one please tell me how long before meat gets introduced back into our diets?

I will be following you by a couple days. I go in on Wednesday May 2. Ya! I can't wait! At least this moment next time I post I'll be scared to death! ha ha

I think you should give your Dr. a call. First did you stop getting your band filled? how long has it been since you seen your dr. last. Your Dr. still might be able to help you with your band, give him/her a call and give it a chance.

Take all of your pills in with you the next time you see your doctor. He or she will be able to help you with this. Say I'm schedule to go in next week to talk with my dr and was told to bring all medications so the doctor can go over them with me.

Bel12 I think alot has to do with your surgeon and insurance. My surgeon makes every one go on a 6 month diet before even submitting the insurance papers. So I guess you just need to check with your surgeon.

i'm going to have my lapband on May 2nd @ 7:15 am. I'm so excited I can't wai!. I went to my seminar back in Oct, 2011. I first had to get permission from my gastroenterology Dr due to issues 5 years ago. Got the approval from him and than had 6 months with my family Dr. for weigh ins. Finally got to meet with my surgeon. Sent paper work off to insurance and was told it would take about 4 weeks to hear from them. And apparently they knew how anixous I was and sent the approval letter to me in 4 days. I was so excited you would have thought I had the surgery done. So now I get to start my liquid diet next wednesday April 18 also will do my pre op testing. Than I will meet the following week with my surgeon again and than off to surgery on may 2nd. yahoo! I can't wait!
